I think this just fixed my problem!! I just my finished my first build and when I power the car on the wheels jerk hard to the left with no control in the steering. I’m going to follow your advice and detach the servo horn power the car on and allow the servo to get centered.
Do you guys have any videos of doing anything to the Arrma granite 4x4 blx 3s. I’m new to this hobby and I’m wanting to find out the best up grades on parts and what can I do to get more speed thanks
That thing you call a Servo saver it's called the horn. Servo saver should be on or part of the bellcrank. For an after-market one how would I set the throw on a Traxxas slash 4x4
hi I'm new to rc cars and hav had mine since Christmas ! i hav a acme bullet brushless buggy and it's been great fun but today i upgraded the lower front arms and adjusted the wheel alignment as per your video, i turned the car on to check wheel travel and they don't turn when i turn the steering, if i move the trim they move . any ideas as to what this could be? as i say I'm new to this and am a bit lost! thanks
2 questions Please! 1: How do I buy the blue screwdriver Rodger was using & does it come with 1.0 - 3.0 mm hex allen bits? 2 : I have a DHK Zombie 8e that incurred a head on with 4 x 4 post but post didn't move so here I am! After replacing right front C-hub, steering arm,and front Diff Housing and a-arm pins- the truck ran straight & fine ! I still have cheap orig. servo but it centers fine with horn unattached from steering but when re-attached to linkage it will turn full to the right but will not return to exact center! When I turn left it will turn it won't turn as far as to the left as it did to the right & will not return at all & I had wheels straight when I attached steering linkage ! I also lubed bushings in servo saver & tightened hex nut? Should I reprogram the ESC to the Tx or replace the Servo & Servo-saver? Thanks Guys Love your videos!
Give us a call 562-425-9000 and we'll make sure you get the same exact screwdriver Roger has. It has 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3mm hex bits With servo you need to check another servo on the same channel to see, if it is servo indeed or the signal. If other servo does the same things then you need to check TX, if its not, then replace servo.
@@Rcstreetshop Thanks Guy! I will definitely call next week about the Screwdriver set! I replaced the Servo with a New 20kg servo and truck turns fine when moving but turning while sitting still it doesn't get full throw in both directions & won't center but running forward it centers fine and goes relatively straight so I can live with it till new servo saver arrives! I took servo saver apart & shaft inside was scratched all up and had aluminum dust particles all over inside so hoping new SS will correct this problem! Thanks Roger & Adam you guys are Great!
Hey guys! I just bought a a rustler to get into the hobby. Im a total noob when it comes to RCs. A problem i just started having is my car turns more left than right. The alignment seems fine; it goes straight (enough) when not steering. I did hit the back of my shoe with the front left tire going full speed but somehow it didnt hit the tire enough to stop the RC or even really change the direction. I did mess with the servo saver and none of the plastic gears are stripped. It just seems like the servo isnt pulling right hard enough. Is that a problem that you've run into before and how can i fix it? I also messed with threaded rod that goes from servo saver to the steering bell and now im not sure if theres a certain distance between the plastic swivel parts for max steering. Sorry for the long comment, i just wanted to be thorough. Thanks for your time i hope i get a response. ✌🏼
Cesar,, this could be a couple things. The servo saver could have failed, or it could be a failing servo. Also, the 2wd Traxxas cars don't steer straight all the time. Occasionally the servo saver sticks and the car veers left or right. Best thing to do is use the steering trim on the radio to adjust it. Good Luck!
thx guys now i now what i allways did wrong whas not to power the servo before i connecting the sturing link and always had troubel to drive in a state line
my son recently crashed his stampede and cracked the servo and a curved spring popped out of the truck when he crashed i chenged the servo the wheels are still not steering but the servo itself is working im not sure where the spring goes hoping you can help me thanks in advance
Hello sir sorry to bother after 2 years but i installed a new steering servo on my cousins 2wd Traxxas slash and the servo has metal gears and its not a Traxxas servo its a diffrent servo. But anyways point is that the little screw that holds the servo horn in place constantly gets loose and comes out. Any solutions for that?
And if you’re going to race Mudboss,re-install the servo from the bottom of the chassis... that will give you some clearance for the front of the body to drop it lower
I did that to my Traxxas slash 2 Wd Vxl when I drive it it goes to the right when I stop it it goes back Center drive it and it goes right again how do you fix that
My original rustler servo has lasted 8+ years and it’s been totally underwater😂😂 I’m just replacing it now because everything else is new besides my servo lmao
Anything above 12-15kg "should" do it. But you do not really want to do it for a number of reasons, the most important one is that it does the opposite from what you try to achieve...If you were planing to get a better feeling and controllability, then you would get a very aggressive, itchy, direct and super sharp steering, especially on a higher speeds. When you hit the bump you actually want " something" to absorb it etc. Plus constant direct connection and vibrations would kill you servo much faster.
What does it mean when there is a whining noise coming from your servo , just bought an upgraded titanium geared servo for my slash 4x4 and it's been a night mare thus far
Hi.Wen I turn left my servo makes a noise.like a grinding sound.i took out the servo saver n the servo does not make any noise wen I turn left.I have a stock slash 2wd
if your car steers more to the left it could be your car has more steering left than right or there is an end point adjustment (EPA) issue. if your radio has EPA adjustment you can fix it there. If not, and it is not a mechanical issue you are stuck with it.
No, it is not bad. This just means that you do not have a servo saver and that every time you hit something with your tires, the impact got transferred directly to the servo and might damage it. If you need a servo saver, this wood work for you goo.gl/77DcVQ
Adapter? We are not sure what you mean by adapter. If you are replacing the stock servo with another stock servo you should need no additional parts. Did you mean the servo saver part?
Thank you. I called traxxas and am having another Servo shipped but while waiting I bought an aftermarket one with metal gearing, it was fried in less time than the first one. Both became unresponsive. I can’t believe how fragile these things are. They make them seem so tough in their videos but I’ve had nothing but problems. I bought a Big Foot today and it’s seeming to have the same buzzing noise my sons raptor was making from his Servo. I really want to love RC but these cheap parts mann👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼
You need to check your linkage ASAP! There is something what puts extra load on your servo and extra load toast them. It should not be like this. If you're local to us, stop by the shop our tech will take a look at it.
Receiver has nothing to do with extra load on the servo, it just provides constant voltage and signal. When servo burns, its actually a tiny component on the servo board which burns out because of constant Amps load.
Lol hm no one wants to explain how to remove wire from the radio receptor mcthingy how to get it through the plastic pieces. Sorry guys huge waste of times. Good try tho
Hm well remember how to videos can't skip aspects of the how to. It's the whole point. Long hair guy said it himself we skipped the nonchalant parts lol. But practice makes perfect. Keep at it. Helpful tip. New OEM,OEMMMMMM, servos require you to thread the screws into. Which no one told me. Thankfully traxxes as a 1800 number lol
7:20 min mark Roger said "Put the wheels straight and put it back on...". What he didn't day though, that your power supposed to be ON and servo should be in the middle of its travel (trim to zero) when you put that arm back in the center.
You guys need to tell people with some traxxases.. You need to reset the controller... SOOO THE STEERING IS NOT OPPOSITE!!! and it doesn't run in circles. So I still needed to call Trax..ASS to figure it out!!!!!!!

Awesome rc
That thing you call a Servo saver it's called the horn. Servo saver should be on or part of the bellcrank. For an after-market one how would I set the throw on a Traxxas slash 4x4
Traxxas has servo saver as a part of a servo horn. To set the throw you should use the end-point function of your transmitter/controller.
good video
Thank you

What does the steering stim need to be set to when recalibrating???
What screwdriver do you use? I'm using the included hex key and it turns the servo while i'm tightening it, then it becomes unaligned.
You need to hold the servo arm while tightening it down.

How do you set end points with a tq radio. My servo buzzes at full lock and have heard that's bad for the servo.

Sure if it has metal gears, just use any thread locking compound on the screw (Loctite)

Is their a way you have to push down the saver on to the servo for it to fit it ? Or is it just my saver?
Yes, you suppose to to fit it into the notch.
my servo wont fully turn either way but it does turn like 25% and i just replaced it
Most likely everything was OK with servo and you were needed to dial in dual rates in the controller
So easy
👍👍👍
is it meant to be really hard to re install like that steering alignment on your rc car?
Thanks I guess I didnt tighten it up all the way I was afraid I would break the servo before I got to use it lol
I did that to my Traxxas slash 2 Wd Vxl when I drive it it goes to the right when I stop it it goes back Center drive it and it goes right again how do you fix that
It is really hard to tell over the internet , but either servo or servo saver doesn't work right.
Will the servo link to two different receivers one for the steering one for the rear wheel drive
Yes, you may use one servo with multiple receiver brands (if I understand your question ).
I got new servo for my car I hooked up to battery and kept turning what's wrong?
It's hard/impossible to troubleshoot over the internet, it looks like there is something wrong with your signal..wrong channel, no signal etc
ive replaced my servo saver 3 times this month and they just keep blowing the spring out , super frustrating tbh.
Get full metal gears servo and alluminum arm (not a servo saver)
@@Rcstreetshop ill give it a shot, thanks!
My original rustler servo has lasted 8+ years and it’s been totally underwater😂😂 I’m just replacing it now because everything else is new besides my servo lmao
How much torque is needed in a servo in order to be able or safe to remove the servo saver?
Anything above 12-15kg "should" do it. But you do not really want to do it for a number of reasons, the most important one is that it does the opposite from what you try to achieve...If you were planing to get a better feeling and controllability, then you would get a very aggressive, itchy, direct and super sharp steering, especially on a higher speeds. Adam looks like the guy from the band Eagles
LOL we will let him know!
What does it mean when there is a whining noise coming from your servo , just bought an upgraded titanium geared servo for my slash 4x4 and it's been a night mare thus far
No worries, this is normal! It is digital and that noise is a servo making tiny corrections to be perfectly centered.
Tell me how do I do that with two arms not just one
Hi.Wen I turn left my servo makes a noise.like a grinding sound.i took out the servo saver n the servo does not make any noise wen I turn left.I have a stock slash 2wd
i tjink jour gears are stripped thats why it doesnt make that sound whitout a load
You should always back your screw up until you hear a click before putting them in so you don’t strip the plastic.
Great tip, thank you 👍
RC Street Shop anytime! Love your videos. They have helped me so much!!
These guys are funny lol like
Thanks :)
When I did this it doesn't work properly now. It slips and clicks. Does that mean the servo saver is stripped?
It sounds like you busted a servo gear (inside).
RC Street Shop nope that's not it. The servo fine but the saver slips. I just replaced all the gears
Sorry, usually when it clicks its servo....troubleshooting over the internet doesn't work sometimes.
Thanks alot
Anytime:) Ride safe!
Show the entire process, start to finish no skipping the middle
Next time, will do!
Yeah my servo stoped working and I was hoping you would have shown how to replace it. Time wasted.
hi i just set my servo to neutral O all ok but when i want to adjust left n right i have a problem...the left go more pls help.sorry my english bad.
if your car steers more to the left it could be your car has more steering left than right or there is an end point adjustment (EPA) issue. if your radio has EPA adjustment you can fix it there. If not, and it is not a mechanical issue you are stuck with it.
RC Street Shop thx adam n roger
Hi! Which channel do I attach my servo to? I think I missed that part. Thanks!
It depends on the servo. If you were asking about steering then with most manufacturers it is channel #1
Heres my problem, my traxxas slash only turns right and ive already replaced my servo
Check servo saver and steering trim.
I don't have that big white disc that goes on top of the servo. is that bad?? it is an older slash than yours.
No, it is not bad. This just means that you do not have a servo saver and that every time you hit something with your tires, the impact got transferred directly to the servo and might damage it.

I bought a brand new ford raptor straight from traxxas & my steering Servo went out in two days, without even driving it hard:/
Try to get a replacement via Traxxas warranty dep (they are actually pretty good), and get an aftermarket servo-saver.
