    **This video was uploaded in 4K (3840 x 2160) but appears to be 'stuck' at WQHD (2560 x 1440) for some viewers, including myself. However, when I switched browsers from Safari to Chrome, then I was able to see the video in 4K. RUclips has probably changed their algorithm slightly and depending on which browser you use (Chrome is part of the Google family), it affects what resolution you can see. Safari also probably caps your resolution based on your computer's native resolution. Please comment below if you have other information. Thanks.

    This is just a quick 4K video test using the Fujifilm X-T2 and the XF 18-55mm F/2.8-4 R OIS lens from Hong Kong. I go through all the film profiles from PROVIA to Sepia (I decided to skip the filters in Monochrome). Look for a more in-depth 4K video test between the X-T2 and the Panasonic GH4 with Ryan from Arcade Original (www.arcadeorigi...). From To Kwa Wan, Kowloon, Hong Kong. Thanks for watching and happy shooting.

    Wow, I didn't realize that you could shoot video using the film simulation modes. I really want the X-Pro 2 though.

      yes it's a very cool feature. It's baked in though, you can't decide later to remove it.

    It doesn't matter what my settings are in camera, as soon as I go to the remote it switches to HD 720 29.97. Is there a menu somewhere in the camera to adjust these because for the life of me I can't get the camera to shoot 4K if I use the remote?

      PUUUSH! Thank you! I thought I'm the only one, I consider to build up a Wireless Fieldmonitor just of this sucking bug..

    So you can't change the focus point in the remote app while recording? That's a pity, I hope they make that possible in the future. It would really compensate the lack of a touchscreen on the camera if the remote app allowed focus pulling with touch.

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  7 лет назад

      I'll have to retest in various focus modes, including Face Detection and Continuous. I prefer to either manually focus or single shot focus, which I don't know how it works in video. Stay tuned for more info.

    I'll admit I love this feature and they look really nice. It's good to see they didn't add that puke green cast there pro 160 and 400 film have. The acros actually looks about as close as you can get to the real deal from a digital but the slide film ones however don't remind me at all of the film. But then again can you actually replicate slide on digital? That stuff is magical especially viewing the physical slides themselves. The provia preset however is my favorite one of the lot.

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  7 лет назад

      Yes I find that in general most prefer the Provia and it's very pleasing. It is almost impossible to duplicate the slide look because a slide has this look when it's illuminated from behind, something that's not possible with digital. The ACROS simulation is fantastic too. I wish I had time to do some city shots, but I'll have to wait for another opportunity. Thanks for commenting!

      bigheadtaco Now worries, can't wait to see more from Hong Kong and hope to see you at a Beers & Cameras here at some point in the future! P.S. Your videos helped me decide to pick up a Leica Q for street. I carry it in a Tanner Goods camera bag with a DJI Mavic all over Hong Kong so I can cover ground and air. Thanks and keep the awesome content coming!

      MT Fan awesome, the Leica is a spectacular camera. I would love to play with a drone some time soon..... take care.

    • @Broadluxe
      @Broadluxe 7 лет назад

      bigheadtaco drones are a blast and make for a unique perspective compliment to ground level. The mavic is so portable and easy to get up in the air that you'll actually use it regularly too, would recommend trying to get your hands on that one first if you can, but if not the Phantom 4's will give you a good idea of the capabilities (always welcome to give mine a go if you get back out this way too). A 'BHT drone tracking you doing street' video would be epic BTW :-). All the best.

    I like the quality but latency between frames is too damn high, almost looks like it's between 15-20 fps.

      I was trying to figure out what that was! I've seen it on other videos, I hope they can fix that and also give us a higher bitrate and codec(like XAVC) such as HEVC since it is available.

      there seems to have been an upload error since the video can't seem to go above WQHD. I've re-uploaded and allowed to process for a few hours and same thing. I'm now re-rendering it on iMovie and re-uploading it to see if the problem is from my end, although my initial uploaded video shows 4K resolution. Stay tuned for another upload......

      I just checked something. While in Safari, the video maxes out at 1440, but when viewing from Chrome, it shows 2160.

      In the edge browser it's also at 1440p max.

    • @bigheadtaco

      Sometimes it takes time for RUclips to process in 4K, but 9 hours is too long. I've re-uploaded and same thing I'm re-rendering it on iMovie and re-uploading, even though my initial movie was definitely 4K when it was initially rendered. Stay tuned. I don't know if the error is me or RUclips.

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  7 лет назад +1

      Try viewing in Chrome. I also only get 1440 while in Safari, but Chrome allows all the way up to 2160. I think the issue is that Safari is a 'smart' brower. It knows the limit of your native screen resolution (mine is 1600). If it realizes your screen can't go higher resolution than the video, it chooses the closest resolution that matches. Chrome will output maximum resolution. It doesn't know or care what your screen will output. There's benefits to both I guess, but if your screen can't show 4K, then the browser has to downscale the video to your native resolution, which can affect the video quality.

      When he commented, it had just been uploaded, so it wasn't populated throughout Google's servers yet. I didn't have that option either, but I knew it was coming after it had time to do so.

    Hi
    in ur first vlog with the X-T2 u noticed that the camera would hunt a lot but it appears to have stopped this. Did you do something to change settings? Thx

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  7 лет назад

      +Ba Bu this video was set to manual focus so I didn't have to worry. The AF is better with the latest firmware updates (remember that I had a preproduction model) but it will still hunt a bit.

    • @babu7141
      @babu7141 7 лет назад

      bigheadtaco thanks....perhaps u can give me some advice: is it better to buy a camcorder with the fuji x-t2? From the examples I have seen a camcorder almost never loses focus. But it does mean taking two cameras with me. It will be mostly used for vacations shooting landscapes, people, places and wildlife.

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  7 лет назад

      that's a tough one because I'm not an expert on video. I too thought about having a separate video camera from my stills camera. However, for the sake of weight and space (and expense) I decided to use one device to do both. The problem with AF with what I do is that I can not see what's happening real time. The camera is faced at me, and I can't see what's happening. For you, you are facing the subject, and you can see how the camera decides to track a face, or a subject, or you manually choose what to focus on with the focus points. I don't think it will struggle with you behind the camera. Plus you will get superior video versus a dedicated video camera in the sub $1000 price range.

      bigheadtaco Good points, thanks. I was looking at the Sony AX100 which has pretty good video but then it wont give me the film look or inbuilt grading options....I will consider this some more.....!

      Ba Bu Sony seems to have the best balance of video and stills. The A series is great, as well as the RX cameras.

    Hi Take, thanks for the video.
    I am surprised because on my Android the app doesn't record 4K, only 720p, which doesn't make any sense. Also it doesn't allow ANY focusing for video. Maybe it's an iOS only thing.
    I was also wondering, the continuous autofocusing problems that you had in the vlog test with the pre-production model, do they still exist now? I have a bit of trouble getting robust results with it.
    Cheers

      @bigheadtaco  7 лет назад +1

      I'm still testing video features on a production model X-T2. Face detect focus is actually really good, but it works the best on the XF 23mm f/2. I found it wandered a bit on the XF 10-24mm f/4. AF is not as good as on many DSLRs (Canon EOS 80D) or some of the 1" sensored vlogging cameras (Canon G7X, G5X) but definitely better than previous Fujifilm X series cameras.

      Hello again,
      I went on and tried the app on iOS, and it had the same issues as on Android. Even if I set the camera to 4K, the app will only record 720p videos. Focusing was allowed in Photo mode but not in Movie mode. I'm trying to figure out what I could possibly be doing wrong.
      Could you confirm that the videos recorded through the app were in fact 4K? Thanks a lot.

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  7 лет назад +1

      Orestisc yes definitely 4K, and the rest of the videos I shot using the X-T2 were all 1080. When you trigger the video on and off using the camera itself, do you get a different result? In the menus, you have to choose 4K before you start the video.

    • @salarycat
      @salarycat 7 лет назад

      bigheadtaco I do select 4K through the menus first. If I start the remote through the app I lose control over the camera, the screen goes blank and the buttons don't respond, so I can't start the video from there. The focus seems to be automatic in the movie mode of the remote. Really weird that we're getting different behaviors.
