The recording of the Consul was done by the devs of Raising The Bar Redux, all rights belong to them. I simply made this edits by adding a few sounds to it #hl2 #halflife #beta #consul #RTB:R
He prob would've been the worm when we met him. Kinda making it a disturbing plot twist that the Consul we see on video wasnt rly him, and that the true Consul was a disturbing figure. God I love the dark and gritty Half Life 2 Beta no joke
@@Ushankov i bet the horrors beyond my imaginations i experienced in my nightmares about gmod and half life were actually all just deleted half life beta from aprrarel universe revised in my dream
I somewhat disagree, some element of the release is cooler than the beta like the OSIPR, and other Combine earth architecture. But you could apply Beta concepts to the final release, by interpreting it as the early years of the combine occupation, where Synths are still used in the majority to occupy earth as the Earth Armed Branch/Overwatch are still being manufactured/developed, and the Combine are still in the process of transforming earth into another factory. Wallace Breen is a much more deeper character than the Beta Consul. I mean you could argue its because The Consul was still a concept. To be fair again the Consul is just a title, so mods like Dark Interval have "Consul Wallace Breen", thus the character still could work and its motivations bleed a little into Breen's character.
I tottaly agree, the consul is more interesting than the retail . Examp, if à dictator like Hitler gain acess to alien tech wich will become immortal this mean the dictator will become more feared and more powerfull than the other
It’s not bad but it’s a bit edgy and generic since this is the way many dystopian games were going in the 2000s, definitely prefer the tone of the final product
I can understand and agree, while the Consul truly feels like a dictator, he is still generic compared to Wallace Breen who had an interesting personality and character.
@@Ushankov making Breen a puppet who's anxiously holding onto power makes humanity's situation feel all the more bleak-no human is in a place of control or power anymore, it's all the mysterious overlords of the Combine, everyone beneath them is just trying to survive, even the talking heads like Breen
Still don't understand people who say the Beta would have been worse... You don't play half-life 2 for the gameplay, you play it for the atmosphere... It probably would have been breathtaking to see a real 1984 world with the Consul and a Combine like this.
@@Ushankov well yeah if Half-Life 2 is your first egoshooter it'll be fun but Black Mesa has a bit better gameplay for the guns and even that becomes boring quickly if you often play tf2, cs:go or call of duty. so in the end, atmosphere, soundtrack, nostalgia is the thing you want most in a singleplayer. that's why people even today play old singleplayer games with awful gameplay but there is just no other game like it because it is like handdrawn art from Davinci and every game is different in itself. i still wish we would have gotten the beta, i wonder if it even was the hacker that leaked stuff or if it was gaben who wanted a different art direction or MAYBE they went too far in the game with this 1984 stuff and some Rothschild called them to stop making it so obvious. xD could be you never know, after all, even if you don't believe me, i think half-life 2 is a predicition of or a look into the future. aliens do NOT exist but still, these masks and this consul overlord actually sound possible in real life if we look at old Rome.
@@Ushankov hmm. i usually like Gaben but this decision... these fools say Half-Life 2 turned out a revolutionary game but imo it really would have been cooler and better with the beta. The Consul alone is proof enough.
That fact that the consul was ment to turn into a disturbing creature at the end just brings chills.

The speech is very chilling and horrific. Impressive.
A typical Roman Caesar from 1984, the half life 2 beta had a very dark atmosphere! It's a shame this beta was scrapped!!
Literally Big Brother in 1984. Maybe it's not just a coincidence
So true
All hail me in the name of The Combine, our benefactors and the Universal Union!!
