I'm just happy to see film community pulling through and making this project possible. Can't wait for my rolls ☺️
I can see two follow-up videos already :)
1) Bulk loading: how-to and tricks and tips from all the experience in-house
2) An opinion video on the much needed step-up regarding recycling in the industry
Nice to see you back 😊
Always good news to have more film. God to see you back.
Glad I could help. :D After the two reels you sent me, I really didn't need to buy another roll. But I did anyway, even though I'm generally very skeptical of new films. I just had to have more of them and fund the campaign. I think many will feel the same way when they get their first results back. *Karin Majoka not Katrin :D
This is part from a mail I got from Kodak ProFilm support in relegation to another topic. Out of curiosity I ask if they went back to the black caps and if that cleared up production delays, in a follow up mail and this was their response:
“And yes, the metal end caps are black once again.
That said, the fallout from Covid and more recently the Ukraine conflict has created a slew of supply chain issues that we've been having to deal with.”
The majority of potential users will develop the film and scan the negatives to get to a positive image, be it a digital "inksquert" print or a media image. These folks will need to adjust to the lack of a mask in the emulsion (the orange thing), but digital processing of the image will adjust for that.. However, those who would make an RA-4 print in a darkroom should pass this film. The mask is there to color balance the dyes in the negative emulsion to fit the requirements of a well balanced print. Omit it and your results will have color imbalance and shifts you probably cannot correct. Agfa used to market their color negative film without a mask until the early 1960s, then switched to the Kodak masking formula used today.
After I watched several videos including grainydays, I am really keen to try this film as well.
Nico, can you please provide more information on the large capacity bulk film loader. I see the 100’ machines, but nothing beyond that on the market or web search. Thank you
Thank for your inside information
The best and worst thing for me about this campaign is that this might be one of my favourite looking films ever, and it might just be a limited run. I'm really glad Santa are doing what they are doing and the campaign got funded, and I hope this becomes a semi-regulary available film!
It is Kodak Aerocolor 125 for anyone wondering. Pretty sure the project already mentioned it.
Really need this to come to 120
I'm very keen to try this film especially after watching Karin Majoka's video. I wish there were more spots to claim bulk rolls of this film - as the 20 spots offered were far too few. Bulk rolls of C41 film is something a lot of shooters would love.
It’s just the early bird bulk rolls that are sold out. There are no limits on the number of bulk rolls.
@@MLinden111 Thank you Marc
@@AselaArt you bet! I had thought the same thing when I ordered last night.
Options. Ya gotta love 'em. It's awesome that there are people out there that are providing one by making the SantaFilm. It will be interesting to see how long we crazies can keep film alive and educate the eyes of those looking at images made with film. To my eyes, I still prefer film....it just has the look of real life to it.
Strange you are not allowed to say who makes it. Didn't they say on their official announcement that you can see examples of this film if you search for specific # that says what it is?
This is the first time I've heard the orange mask described as any sort of advantage for scanning. It is nothing but a PITA when trying to get the colors correct in scanning. It's a relic of the past and needs to go the way of Autographic film.
Si la máscara fuese como los rollos de C41 lo compraría porque solo hago copias en RA4
Kodak produces ProImage 100 which from what I’m seeing has a look quite similar to Santa 100.
Hmm disappointing to hear that I can’t get good scans easily. I don’t own Negative Lab Pro and it looks expensive. Not sure what I’m going to do with the film now lol
It works fine with lab scans too, at least Carmencita has done a great job with them
@@NicosPhotographyShow Appreciate the reply. That's a relief.
"its been a minute" Lucy said ; )
L saw the video, looked at me and started wawing. Hola :)
No orange mask... It would be funny to try to reverse process it to a positive
Sounds like Aerocolor
By Kodak no less. Shocking, I know. Silberra has been selling it too.
That's cause it is, under instagram images on the indiegogo page it says that it was previously available as Aerocolor 125.
Is it cuz Santa flies....with magic and he's in the air...aero... And he's bright red colorful, get it!?
