  • Fall color was in full swing and I decided to take out my Leica M6 and a roll of Luminar 100. Popho Luminar 100 is a film stock that was released a few months back that is Kodak Aerocolor IV packaged for sale in the 35mm rolls. The film has some very interesting color characteristics and it was cool to see how they worked with the already warm fall colors. I think Luminar 100 or any of these other Kodak Aerocolor films make a great option for an alternative landscape film to the traditional options. Especially if you are interested in bringing out the reds in your images.

We are changing the music on this channel. I’m about sick of lo-fi beats on everyone’s videos at this point.

Glad you like Aerocolor, I think it’s fantastic and posted my own video about it a while back, it deserves a lot more love than it gets. Also Catlabs does a very nice job respooling this to 120, shooting it in Medium format is a dream.

FYI - Reflx labs is offering fresh Aerocolor in 120 and 220. I wish I actually liked the look. The 220 is nice for intentional B&W conversion though😊
I far prefer Vision3 stocks - cheap and superior color IMHO, and ECN-2 in the Jobo is trivial.

Great video, man. Going to have to give this stock a try. Growing up and living in southern West Virginia, this feels like home. Especially the catalytic converter and copper thievery. Lol

the shots at 5:45 and at 11:05 with the yellow lines are slightly reminiscent of Siegfried Hansen's work- check him out!

When you were reading Kodak’s applications for the film you mentioned “medium to high altitude”.
Do you think the reds and yellows pop at immediate distance because at altitude they have to overcome all the Raleigh scattering and the blue the phenomenon creates?
I bet the film would be fairly well color balanced at 10,000 feet in the air. OTOH Ektar would look incredibly blue with little contrast from the same altitude.
Enjoyed the video. Thanks for making it

That’s a very good point. Making up for the blue shift likely experienced at altitude - that makes a lot of sense.
      Thanks for watching!
