DUDE! Those would make fantastic wall tiles! Maybe not for a shower but for smaller areas like back splashes or other decorative applications in a black color scheme. That depth of finish is awesome!
1:44 you left a control subject and proved the need for bubble popping. Very scientific. 4:20 We watch these because you talk fast. So many crafters make us watch extended/repetitive actions while droning on. This was a perfect execution and I want these coasters!
Very nice! Finally a smaller project I can dip my hands into. I've been wanting to make an epoxy table but seems like such an undertaking. This I could at least get the feel for working with epoxy without spending a lot.
A next step might be to make small shelf using a knotty/cracked/knackered piece of hard wood (I used left over/rotting oak planks) - you can practice sealing the knots/cracks, then filling with small amounts of epoxy (coloured if you want), then flattening/sanding/finishing. If you have some big cracks you can double up and practice a few bowties as well :) - ruclips.net/video/jXYmxwdK9_4/видео.html
One thing that might be neat is after you do the first epoxy pour... Going back with a cnc router and v bit and engraving some design and doing a different colored epoxy inlay and then sanding smooth and sealing with the epoxy top coat
Monster (energy) I love the charred wood look. I do a bunch of lichtenberg figures in wood. Custom frames, walking sticks, basically anything wood that I work with that doesn't have to be immaculate.
This is a valuable addition to my woodwork collection ruclips.net/user/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO I still will rate this woodwork plan as the best in my reference library. It always seem to stand out from the rest whenever you go through the library. This is a masterpiece.
Have you ever thought of painting reds and oranges in some of the charred recesses to make the appearance of burning embers? It is something I would like to try eventually.
Honestly the one with the smudge has the best burn lines, this will be my first epoxy project start with coasters and move up. Thanks for all your videos
I’m surprised you didn’t add felt or cork to the bottom! I might like to see them partially sanded too, for another look of the wood charring. Another thought would be to add some mica to that sealing coat!
Lemonade (made with ACV instead of lemons): Why didn't you sand the sides for a nice smooth all around finish? And some gold flecks would be nice with this
The tears of my childhood bully. How about charring the wood of a river table? Char wood Seal charred wood Pour river Pour an additional 1/2 inch over everything I think the shou sugi ban would look great with a grey-pearlescent river. 😯
Love your work, you are the epoxy king!! I'm getting into wood working after watching your channel. Might pick your brain on the epoxy side of things. Keep up the good work! All the way from South Africa!! 🇿🇦
Strongbow cider ,, I used 2 part epoxy at work we used to degass it with a powerful vacuum pump and chamber.. then pour and we had very few bubbles. I like your work, I am recently retired and have taken up wood turning as a hobby, I use a vacuum chamber to help quick dry out the wood prior to turning. I am going to try a flame finish on a bowl next time. Cheers and keep up the good work stay safe.
This is my first exposure to your channel and I gotta say, I love the fact that you talk fast! You’re the channel I’ve been looking for! I usually need just a quick refresher on a technique, or want to know how other people tackle the problem of X when Y comes up, etc, but MOST craft/woodworking videos are made like they’re presenting for television. They breakdown what’s going to happen (instead of, idk, just *starting* ), repeat themselves and the steps they did, take tons of breaks away from the action just to give themselves screen time and act as a “host,” or generally take way too long to just get to the point. I love the fact that you show one thing while talking about another thing and trust your audience to follow along. At the very least you seem to be aware that we all use the “rewind 10 sec” button a lot, which means there’s no need to dwell on anything for a long time. Just leave it on screen long enough for us to catch it and move on. We can (and DO) rewatch the parts we need to see, so why waste time with anything else? I subscribed instantly. I can’t tell you enough how much I appreciate your approach to making videos (I hope this one wasn’t a one-off, lol). Thanks for a great video, and I’ll be checking out your other videos soon!
Peach Bellini Cocktail - I love your coasters! Clear, shiny & shows off the pattern beneath. Your so brave using fire, then covering it with epoxy. Never seen that done without removing all the excess prior to epoxy. Most say it can't be done, yet you did it. Amazing & thank you for sharing 💜
Coffee. I also loved the charred table. I could see these being used as decorative tiles on the wall behind an old wood stove or even the wall of a kitchen countertop (perhaps in the kitchen of a stylish restaurant).
Around a wood stove, you could selectively use orange, yellow, and maybe white metallic paint over the char...then clear coat. For a 3d sort of burning embers effect. It would look like the stove had, and was in process of...burning a hole in the wall behind it lol. I know they have high heat resins...but I don't know how clear they pour.
You are polite and very expressive. I like how you work.. one day I would like to do a small project. For now I am learning from you a lot. Impressive work,Sir..
I have many woodworking tools- but in a small shed that doesn’t give very much room to move around- but I am about to figure it out- these videos are very inspiring and you make beautiful pieces!
You are very detailed in your description and explaination and that is why I subscribed. My favourite beverage is any Blackcurrant beverage drink plus the result from those wood blocks were superb.
Crown Royal....That being said...I love your videos so much ...everything you create is absolutely beautiful...thanks for the education and entertainment...keep it coming...
I found your video interesting and rather complete in the amount of information given on how to do the hentire job. Thank you and don't stop the videos, can't wait for the table you mentioned. Cheers
Coffee. I have been playing with charred white oak for a pen black. First time I did it, I just did dozen or so coats to CA glue, and the char just looked flat. I then coated it in gold acrylic paint, whipped to excess off and it looks great. I have been using Royal Palm Resin (now JB Royal) which is for turning.
Gin and Tonic- These would be great gifts. I'm wondering if theres a way to make these like the one table you made where you accidentally sanded through the burnt section and it looked amazing.
Monster loco-first time watching. I want to make a coaster for my dad for his birthday. This will be my second tjme woodworking ever, but my first project was about just as difficult and I managed it pretty well. This video is super enlightening. I really enjoyed watching it
Wray and Nephew overproof Jamaican white rum. This was a sick project. You’ve inspired me to do this with a bigger board. Probably going to do a desk top.
Testing out four of them! Just sealed them up. Gonna try to use a router jig like you said. But thank you for all the great videos I’m a beginner and I’ve learned a lot from your Channel
Dr Pepper- Currently building a new desk, plained and joined 7 2x4's. Then took outside and roasted it with a pear burner. Just this evening i put the coat of clearcast epoxy to saturate the char. Your video was the reason i undertook this project. Thanks!
I have watched this video a bunch of times and I am going to do this in the house that I am building. I think this would be a really cool tile backsplash in my kitchen. Thinking square them off and then slightly round them over, and then follow it up by finishing the edges and back with some lacquer or something for waterproofing since it will be in a kitchen. Would love to see the master try this and see what results you get, even if it is on a small mockup piece.
What a fantastic idea. I love shosugi ban and these coasters are awesome. My fav drink is red wine (at this particular moment just after dinner!). Thanks
Old Fashioned guys like me would like to see if you really answer every comment. Honestly man, been watching your channel for a while now and I really dig it, the whole thing, editing, narration and of course, the content. Waiting on the burnt table, cheers from Argentina

I was thinking these would be nice for a camper conversion I'm working on but might take too much time.

exactly what I thought :)

I love that burnt wood effect, the table is stunning too. An accent wall tiled in that would be cool!

I was thinking the same thing. That would be really cool looking. No pun intended. 😉
Had the same thought just before i saw your comment, i'd be really cool if done right!
@@graywoulf there was no pun in the first place bud
It would be very interesting to know and see the results if anyone has done this, please share if so
Or you could do it with orange fluoroscent resin and have UV light on top oh it?

Natural light on that finish looks great.
Ice tea is my favorite, I was gonna mention trying a table like that and I seen you're already on it. Awesome can't wait to see.
Thanks Jason! And it’s coming
LOL
Chess board with chard and chard with red dye resin or a cribbage board
Excellent idea
Epic
Love this idea 💡 ❤️❤️
2500$ plus tax and shipping. I can do it for you.
$2000 and free shipping. I can do it for you.
I live in an RV, ( travelling Australia) so just watch… and chill… this is one of my favourite pieces, loved the random finish…. Awesome..
Man these would look great as backsplash for a sink area on a bar in your house. Or even in the kitchen it would look so cool as a backsplash.
I came to comment this
Lol, I just had the same comment

Thanks buddy!
The tears of my childhood bully. How about charring the wood of a river table?
Char wood
Seal charred wood
Pour river
Pour an additional 1/2 inch over everything
I think the shou sugi ban would look great with a grey-pearlescent river. 😯
I like it Ted!
That would be dope, but if you really got ambitious, you could create enough to make a backsplash!
Not a huge river table fan anymore, but the favorite drink had me rolling lol. Reminded me of the chili con carnival episode of south park.
“The tears of my childhood bully”!🤣
Love your work, you are the epoxy king!! I'm getting into wood working after watching your channel. Might pick your brain on the epoxy side of things.

Wow! That would be perfect for backsplash tiles :)
Good call!
Oh that’s a great idea!
Great idea! Ice Water
Yea back splash
Actually, think again- the high gloss black would show mineral deposits.
You made that look so easy, they turned out great! Didn't see a smudge.
Thanks Pete!

This would look awesome done on full plywood sheets for countertops or wall coverings

Dr.Pepper: Dang it... Now I want my whole computer Desk to be like this......and maybe some shelves.
I want to do more too!
I've actually done this to a side of a bed frame I made out of 2x12, I used too much micro pearl in mine so you can barely see the burn.
I just finished doing an entire wall of rectangle tiles like this for a bathroom. It turned out super cool.

You should
Absolutely!
Phin Hayes that would be super mettle! I love it!
I already did! Rub mica pigment or glow in the dark pigment into the cracks before the poxy pour. Have a look on instagram XTN Guitars.
Hell yea
Coffee doesn't require a coaster but this video requires a "like" :)
Extra sweet iced tea is so refreshing when woodworking. I love the coasters. I also like the idea of using them as wall tiles (from other comments).
These look like a fun project. The hardest part for me would be getting my guests to use them! Maybe I need better guests, LOL. Coffee
I feel the same!
Oh you mean because they're savages that wouldn't use coasters... I guess I'd be in the same boat. 🤔
Just keep the torch close and when they attempt to put their cup/glass on the table instead of coaster get the torch out. Wanna bet it will work??
