I really hope this video helps you find your BEST Color Profile, along with my Best Camera Settings. Drop me a comment if you have any questions, i would love hear from you!
This is one of the best videos I've ever seen on RUclips, I love to learn and thank you so much for this
Hi Jeff,
Thank you for your feedback On the filters. Much appreciated. James.
Great video! It took me forever to realize that I was watching footage of the city I’ve lived in my entire life. Way to be distinct, Raleigh.
Ha ha that is funny Eddie. I know what you mean. I'm always noticing entirely new buildings pop up over night.
Great video, thanks for sharing. Awesome intro
Thanks i appreciate you saying that!
Verry good, thank you very much!
Thank you very much 👍🏾
Jeff, my Mavic 2 Pro is inbound. I pulled the trigger and bought one the other day and it should be in next week. I will no doubt be revisiting this post when I start to fly the new drone. Thanks for your information on sharpness, contrast and settings.
Awesome...My favorite drone ever!
Thanks for the tips
That was very well done and was to the point. Your visual comparisons were totally helpful. You are presenting professionally useful info!,,,
Thank you so much Art, i appreciate you saying that.
thanks jeff, great video
Thanks for the thumbs up Pablo!
Excellent work, thanks! Pls keep up with your beautiful channel
Thank for the thumbs up Oleg, glad you found this helpful.
Nice video Jeff! I Actually live right behind that church and fly my Mavic Pro in the field next to it. Let's go fly.
Very meaningful.👍Thank you 😊
So helpful!!! Thanks
You're welcome John, thanks for the thumbs up!
Nice video..thanks,you have a LUT for this setings ?tx
Very informative video. And yes I have a question how do I change my landscape profile values in the app I can not seem to find away to manual change them? Thanks
This is a good tutorial video. Before watching this, I suspected the same thing as you prefer to use +1-1+0 for a day time. If I plan to use a normal mode for a low light, I am going to use either +0-2+0 or -1-2+0 because I noticed that the normal mode has too much contrast in videos during night times. The D-log definitely looks great in the low light as well.
Thanks for the thumbs up shiwadaa07. Yep, -2 contrast in normal mode should take care of any issues in normal mode.
Really enjoyed the video. Very good stuff👍🏼 Come on down and enjoy Hurricane Michael headed our way........good wind testing but the M2P stays inside for now 😄
Haha, i have had enough clean up for the year. Another 5 inches of rain this week, then hopefully some real fall weather on the way😀
Good tutorial and some good research I'm currently +1, 0, 0, for now using Normal colour 4K 24fps FOV (my preferred setting) on my M2Pro as my machine struggles a little with DLOG-M
Hi Future Shock Visuals. Not sure what you are using for an editing program, but i am using the "proxy" files in FCP X, which has helped tremendously in editing 4k 10bit footage. Have you tried that?
Jeff Greene Actually I have used Proxy when using 4K footage on Cameras, But the MacBook struggles some what, but going back out tomorrow with the M2P and I will definitely use DLOG-M 4K and see how it goes. Thanks for the advice
Nice video of the Sikh temple you have, by the way. 😀
Jeff Greene thank I’m glad you enjoyed it
I appreciate your videos and they are helpful so I am a subscriber. I do have a question to ask in terms of shutter speed. I understand the concept that the speed should double the frame rate but what about taking photos which I like to do. I would think differently about shutter speed when I am taking photos, meaning if a subject is moving, using a fast shutter speed. I was told that the DJI mavic pro 2 compensates for this automatically, is this your understanding? Thanks Jeff!
Hi Peter, you are 100% correct. With photos the 180 degree doesn't apply. Especially if i you are trying to take actions shots where you want the subject to be in focus. In this case you would want you shutter speed somewhere in the neighborhood of 1/500. The mavic 2 pro 'can' compensate for this 'if' you are shooting in auto mode. Great question, hope this helps!
Great video Jeff thanks - would these principles still broadly apply for a Mavic Air too ?
Hi Ronan, here is the video for the Mavic Air settings: ruclips.net/video/J98PIr6PYIs/видео.html The principles are the same but the color profile is a tad different (0,-3,-2).
@@JeffGreeneChannel Mighty stuff thanks for that Jeff
Sir. Would you recommend using lens filters ? Even though I will shoot mostly in auto modes. Thx James.
Hi James, if you will be shooting in auto-modes, I would NOT recommend purchasing ND filters. The auto-adjusting shutter and aperture should be enough to cover any situation.
The background is NCSU's Memorial Bell Tower!
Go Pack!!!
Been waiting...
Thanks DrOne, the recent hurricane threw things for a bit of a loop. Hopefully things have settled down so we can fly!
@@JeffGreeneChannel all the best! By the way, please do the same video for the Zoom if you can get hold of it. I have the Zoom and not sure what custom settings are the best to follow.
Awesome, How do you like the zoom so far? I was torn between the two, and wish the lens was interchangeable.
@@JeffGreeneChannel I wish that too! Mostly when I see rich color shots as yours. Well, I assumed that the quality would be at least as good as from the Air camera (lost my Air due to signal loss).
I'm really blown away by the occusync 2.0, it's just a different league compared to the Air signal and range. It also gives sort of a confidence when operating the drone.
The PIA is the filter change which I don't like. Having adjustable aperture is the main factor why I would like to swap the camera later. I hope it will be possible.
@@digiteye yes totally agree on the occusync 2.0. Also am surprised how quiet ( or lower) the sound is compared to the Air.
Hi Jeff. What's the coloured square you have on the top right of your screen. I don't have that on my screen. Great vids by the way.
Hi Bob, thanks for the thumbs up. The color square is a recent addition with the latest firmware. It allows your screen to show in normal color mode, while you are still recording in Dlog-M. It is helpful since the Dlog-M can be so flat, making it hard to see some details(powerlines, etc). Also kind of a sanity check to confirm your exposure is correct.
Thanks Jeff. Also. when you say 0,0,0 i take it you mean +0+0+0 ? only I dont see just a 0 thats not - or +
@@maxv77 yes sir, exactly.
@@JeffGreeneChannel :)
Video Settings for - NORMAL is 8 Bit 16M Colours - DLOG-M is 10 Bit 16 Billion Colours ?
Could you Share a video on how you make those transitions in the beginning??? (Y)(Y)(Y) Great video!!
Hi Alejandro, i certainly can do that. Thanks for the compliment!
@@JeffGreeneChannel I second that request! That building mask was sick!
@@JeffGreeneChannel is there anything online about this topic yet?
@@Aequor97 Hi there, yes i posted this video on the topic: ruclips.net/video/33ZAHJ5ZhI0/видео.html For the building inception i used the mask transition. I used 2 cliips: 1 - clip right to left close to a tall building. 2 - clip pull away shot in same area while gimbal rising. Hope that helps. let me know if you have questions.
@@JeffGreeneChannel perfect! I congratulate to a new sub!
Anyone knows how to correct the warm balance on the mavic2 pro?
No distortions like curved lines?
Does'nt the DLOG-M barrel distortion bother you?
I hate the barrel distortion so much that I just stay away from d-log m
Hi vracan, actually it doesn't really bother me. It would probably bother me more with photos, but with videos I'm always shooting 5 sec clips, with axis movement or subject movement, that the slight barrel distortion is probably only noticeable to other m2p owners.
luckily the photos dont have barrel distortion
How come you don't correct the distortion on the horizon?
im a complete noob shooting whenever I can especially on nice sunny days no grading what settings should i do?
Hi Michael, if no color grading, i would shoot in "normal" mode with the Color Profile set to (+0,+0,+0). I would shoot at a shutter speed of 1/48, ISO 100, and then only adjust your aperture. If you find that things are too bright with the aperture set to 11, then use the shutter speed 1 click at a time to get it exposed correctly on the histogram. If all else fails, there's nothing wrong with auto mode.
sweet helps alot, awsome work on ur channel btw !!!
Thank you sir!
F11 is the worst f number you can use for sharpness . Best f stop to use is 2 f stops from max f stop
sure ! and put af !
How do you color grade your D-Log footage?
Hi Joshua, i use a LUT from the Film Poets called SkyGrades Natural Pack ➤ geni.us/SkyGradesNatural
This works really well for me since the LUT was designed specifically for the Mavic 2 Pro. If i am not using the SkyGrades Lut, i color grade manually 1 clip(takes a bit of time for me), then i copy/paste the grade to the other clips. Hope that helps.
f 11 is not a good choice! its getting unsharp starting after f4. Starting using ND Filters
HLG ?
Why does your shutter speed need to be twice your frame rate? And why shoot 24p?
I would shoot in 25p and more like 200th+ shutter in your situation.
Hi Luke, it's a great question. Basically the film industry settled on the the fact that having your frame rate 2x the shutter speed is the most pleasing to the human eye and creates the most natural amount of motion blur. It is more noticeable with quick close up action scenes than it is for normal landscape video from a drone. Hope that helps.
Additionally 24p is the standard in North America, 25p is standard in Europe.
Cool gemacht sagt Copter Manni würde mich über ein abo von dir sehr freuen
Why would anyone wanting the best out of this camera be shooting at f-11?
Hi Greg, good question. In this situation i was pretty much forced into a corner (f-11), until my ND filters arrive. Ideally, I want to start out in the 4 - 5.6 range with the correct filter. Thanks for pointing this out.
I think you will find that 2.8 to 4.0 is slightly better than 5.6, and above that getting worse fast.
10 bits in a 8 bits screen, 24 fps in a 60hz screen. Yes, you know what you are talking about.
