The bezel police are complaining about it every year (on Pixels). Even now its already small enough they still complain. At this point every 0.1mm if not smaller will matter to them smh

Bro Pixel phones are the most terrible smartphones ever and this is coming from my personal experience. They overheat, have network issues, take too long to charge, have mid performance and battery backup. And those bezels look awful.
in the UK, pixel 8a and 8 are more or less the same price but for 1 month pixel 8a is offering £150 cash back for ANY phone trade in. I have an old basic phone from 2015 and am considering this.

I have an old Xperia A2 so total trade in would be £189, bringing it down to £310. Still using and enjoying my Pixel 4A three years on which cost me £349 at the time. 👍
So what the point? You can buy Nothing phone 2a for 350 with bigger battery, you can buy even pixel 8 for same price. Do you remember the days when (a) series was really budget-friendly?
Non-tech savvy people tend to keep their phones longer (5-7 years or until the they get annoyed enough with their phone). 7 years of updates will benefit them. Even if they don't know anything about the importance of updates, they know Google as a brand. They don't know about Nothing as a company. Nothing 2a may have better specs in some areas, but it can't compete with long-term software updates. You'll be forced to upgrade to get the latest security patch after 3 or 4 years

The Android Security Bulletin only lists a subset of Critical/High vulnerabilities that are backported to baseline yearly releases of Android. Which companies like Nothing use. Many other important privacy and security issues are also classified as "moderate", and are rarely backported. They will need to migrate to Android 15 to get this month's full patches and improvements. Or change their release cycle to include quarterly and monthly AOSP rebases, which I doubt they will do unless pressured. Their phone also lack important security features, like a dedicated secure element and MTE.

I so wish I was the audience for the Pixel a series. It's such a nice, small, yet useful device at such a good price! I just love the powerful cameras on the Pixel Pro series.
I am a huge fan of the A series as I've only used the A series since jumping to Pixel phones. My wife prefers the main Pixel line as does my sister-in-law, but I think the A series is great! Currently rocking the 7A , may get my hands on the 8A , but we shall see.
Why on earth do we have to pay the same price in £ as they have to pay in $? I have never understood this. As usual Google is ripping off the UK fans. It's shocking how often Google short changes us here but nobody says anything about it.
I can't believe how huge the bezels are! I still have a low end phone form 2015 that I hold for the trade in any phone deals and that has smaller bezels. It seems like a deliberate fat bezel strategy rather than a limitation for the budget. The standard 8 looks to be a better deal than the 8a.
And that, my friend, was the whole point of making the bezels so ugly and the price so high. Google is trying to quietly kill the A series and is fabricating a "reason" to do it. If the pixel 8a does not sell well, why should the keep it around for the Pixel 9 series? Google has already confirmed that they will switch to a pattern of Pixel 9, 9 XL and 9 Pro. Make of that what you wish, but I guess this is officially the end of cheap Pixel phones. Damn this company sucks!

Me personally I think Google charging $499 for this effectively kills the A series having any kind of value. I do love all the upgrades but I don’t think it should’ve been above $449 and $399 would’ve been more fair imo. I’d definitely wait until this went on sale before even considering it.

Hope the tensor G3 isn’t the lesser performance version like what they did with the tensor G2 in the pixel 7a.Samsung does good deals to google on seconds,chips that dont perform aswel but have the same name.
The only thing is that Google is setting itself up for failure with the lineup. Besides that tensor chips need to improve their power a bit Pixel’s offer some of the best value for their money. Problem is the A series is almost the same as the base phone and Google puts the base phone on sale. Like why is this coming out, has almost all the same features as the regular 8, and Google has the 8 on sale for only $50 more? It’s like they’re trying to be competitive in their own lineup.
I appreciate the effort but I am done with pixel phones. I owned Pixel 2 XL, Pixel 4XL, Pixel 6, and the Pixel 7 Pro. My honest opinion is that the pixel hardware went downhill after the Pixel 5. I have had nothing but microphone issues and hardware failure with the pixel 6, the pixel 7 pro was replaced twice. I highly recommend staying away until they fix their hardware.
Does the thicker bezel provide more rigidity to prevent the display from breaking when it falls accidentally. Who makes these kind of thick bezel these days it is super annoying
I really dont like this too curvy edges. Thats why I got the Pixel 7 instead of the 8 because I just love boxy phones, it looks more modern than extra curvy corners, which looks like a damn soap!
Dont buy any phone on tensor/exynos. They cant fix stutter lag on aps becouse it is not software related problem. Its shitty chip. I checked multiple devices including samsungs with exynos. All phones with tensor/exynos have stutter issue and its not repairable.

This device doesn't really make sense especially with the price in mind. The sensors installed are the same as in the 7a. Everyone has to decide whether 7 years of updates, a slightly faster processor and AI gimmicks justify the extra cost compared to the predecessor. A Pixel 8 with a modern front and better camera is definitely more worthwhile.

The aloe looks more muted in natural lighting than it does in the official pictures, in the official pics it looks more vibrant
