      Non-tech savvy people tend to keep their phones longer (5-7 years or until the they get annoyed enough with their phone). 7 years of updates will benefit them. Even if they don't know anything about the importance of updates, they know Google as a brand. They don't know about Nothing as a company.
      Nothing 2a may have better specs in some areas, but it can't compete with long-term software updates. You'll be forced to upgrade to get the latest security patch after 3 or 4 years

    • @rythmater
      @rythmater 4 месяца назад

      @@NarcolepticRaccoon7 And even then. Nothing doesn't ship all of the AOSP and applicable patches (just like all the other OEMs except Google).
      The Android Security Bulletin only lists a subset of Critical/High vulnerabilities that are backported to baseline yearly releases of Android. Which companies like Nothing use.
      Many other important privacy and security issues are also classified as "moderate", and are rarely backported.
      They will need to migrate to Android 15 to get this month's full patches and improvements. Or change their release cycle to include quarterly and monthly AOSP rebases, which I doubt they will do unless pressured.
      Their phone also lack important security features, like a dedicated secure element and MTE.

Problem is the A series is almost the same as the base phone and Google puts the base phone on sale. Like why is this coming out, has almost all the same features as the regular 8, and Google has the 8 on sale for only $50 more? It’s like they’re trying to be competitive in their own lineup.

    What the point of A series now when it is priced 500 bucks now ? Even 400 would've been justified.

    Does the thicker bezel provide more rigidity to prevent the display from breaking when it falls accidentally. Who makes these kind of thick bezel these days it is super annoying

    I really dont like this too curvy edges. Thats why I got the Pixel 7 instead of the 8 because I just love boxy phones, it looks more modern than extra curvy corners, which looks like a damn soap!

    Dont buy any phone on tensor/exynos. They cant fix stutter lag on aps becouse it is not software related problem. Its shitty chip. I checked multiple devices including samsungs with exynos. All phones with tensor/exynos have stutter issue and its not repairable.

    Isn't it crazy that the Pixel 4a has much smaller bezels and a better design for a price of 330€, than the Pixel 8a can offer at 550€?
    Google is trying really hard to shitify it's former budget segment.
    I see no reason to upgrade....again -_-
    When did Google phones become so boring?

    Unless you get the 100 coupon from Best Buy etc, just buy the 8.

    This device doesn't really make sense especially with the price in mind. The sensors installed are the same as in the 7a. Everyone has to decide whether 7 years of updates, a slightly faster processor and AI gimmicks justify the extra cost compared to the predecessor. A Pixel 8 with a modern front and better camera is definitely more worthwhile.
