I’m not sure what RUclips is trying to tell me with the influx of Sisyphus memes I’ve recently been flooded with, but to quote the big man himself: “I don’t regret a second of it. *HAHAHAHA-AHHAHAHAHA-AAHAHA* “
The fact a lot of these GIFs show the guy stopping at the midpoint once the boulder rolls down seems kind of odd to me. The point of 'Sisyphus is happy' is because he's depicted as still going back to push the boulder It's not that Sisyphus is glad to be in a bad situation, it's that in spite of it, he always goes back to try again.
Maybe it’s a show of how Sisyphus would most certainly NOT be happy. Like, imagine YOU had sone ETERNAL TORMENT pushed onto you and then sone philosopher comes along and is like “yeah we gotta imagine this person is happy.” Like, NO?!?
Ahh… So concludes the life and times of King Sisyphus. A fitting end to an existence defined by futile struggle, doomed from the very start… And I don’t regret a SECOND of it!
I actually really like watching the boulders roll down. I'm conflicted on how the game should play. On one hand, gamers love feedback and succeeding at goals, so making it possible to beat or leaving a leaderboard makes it "fun". I liked the idea that "One must imagine sisyphus happy" comes in the form of unlocking stickers to put on the rock, like how "Getting Over It w/ Bennet Foddy" turns the cauldron more gold with every win. But on the other hand, the journey to the height should be enough to fill a man's heart, and so I think the best sisyphus game will have a theoretically infinitely tall mountain but the only reward you get for getting really high is that the rock gets much louder, much faster, there's a lot more particle effects, and then a very large area is provided for the rock to keep momentum and continue rolling when it reaches the bottom. You should be thinking "Wow that thing is truckin'! It's really going out there... That's gonna take a while to get..." But with a smile the whole time, like the smile you get after blowing something up for fun.
