John Lennon said they were doing what the Sex Pistols were doing, except in their early days they had to put a shine on it so it was acceptable. You could say they were protopunk. They influenced a lot alternative bands. Of course U2, Oasis, Nirvana and others were inspired by punk bands, David Bowie, etc. U2 coming out punk and continuing as a post-punk band.
In the early 70s as a teenager I got interested in music. The first artists I started buying were David Bowie Aladdin sane, sweet singles LP, Slade sladest, Marc Bolan Bolan boogie, Suzi Quatro can the can .
Bee Gees were not a disco group, they just had a disco phase. The video missed the most obvious band who were influenced by The Beatles - Electric Light Orchestra or ELO. Jeff Lynne is a massive Beatles fan and they were big fans of him
Indian music was introduced to the U.S. and the western world by Ravi Shankar who in turn introduced the music to the Beatles and Donovan as well as a blues guitarist whose name I am blanking on. The Beatles were the first to POPULARIZE Indian music thanks to George. Please if you are going to report on the Fabs get your facts straight! Jimi Hendrix was never considered heavy metal..he was considered psychedelic rock! Geez! And of course the Beatles were Irishman...smh. It'a fact, not something to be argued..just like someone can be Mexican American..sheesh!🙄 And to not mention Alice Cooper who even mentioned in his autobiography that his earliest band was The Earwigs and did a song based on Please, Please Me and appeared in Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band Film? What are you smoking? In addition, how could you possibly forget David Bowie who appeared in The Rutles and was a major fan of The Beatles? And Mickey Dolenz of The Monkees? Donovan who contributed to The Beatles' music and taught John fingerpickings? And not to mention Elvis who tried to revive his career by covering Beatles songs? And Cher who performed the song "Ringo, I Love You?" And how in the world could you possibly not include The Rolling Stones of whom Brian Jones was close to George and that J and P wrote their first hit? And finally The Who in which Pete wrote in The Seeker, the lyrics, "I asked Bobby Dylan, I asked The Beatles?" And GnR? All of the bands I mentioned were much more influenced by the Beatles than the ones you mentioned and their influence was much more personal. If you are going to be a socalled expert Beatles site, do your bloody research! Smh.
This video seems to glorify ONLY John Lennon. Did Paul McCartney do nothing for the group? Also, Ozzy and Kurt love Paul McCartney too. Get your facts straight, you amateurs.
Yeah the deification of Lennon gets under my skin. I mean I love John too, but the way people dismiss Paul is infuriating. We wouldn't have even had the last few Beatles albums if not for Paul's colossal talent, work ethic and drive.
The Beatles influenced a lot of alternative bands and artists. However, U2, Oasis, Flaming Lips, Nirvana and more were influenced by punk and other subgenres of alternative. U2 came from punk and continued on as post-punk. And grunge and britpop are also subgenres of alternative.
I can't believe that both you and all the commenters forgot about perhaps the most important of the bands that were inspired by the Beatles, Pink Floyd
There's so many great bands that started in the 60s and 70s and cross over to today. Music is so subjective but for my money Led Zeppelin is the greatest band ever. Not just the 60s or 70s. People clamor for them to this day even though the Who and the Stones and others still or have toured in some capacity or lineups . Zeppelin just won't do it really. Limited capacity for sure. Page and Plant tour, it's not called Zeppelin. A few benefit shows and that's it. Plant has had his own award winning solo career and fine solo albums. I love bands like the Cure. The Police. REM. Depeche Mode. U2. The whole spectrum but for my money Zeppelin is the greatest, most talented and influential band of all time. With the Beatles a close second
Why is it that only women idolise Paul? If it's because he was traditionally seen as the 'cute Beatle,' it's both insulting and grossly unfair to Paul, as it completely disregards his immeasurable talent and contribution.
White Christmas was probably the largest selling single in history but he came nowhere to selling as many records as The Beatles. And Crosby overall probably sold less records than Michael Jackson, Madonna, Led Zeppelin, Rhianna just to name a few.
The Beatles inspired pretty much everyone that came after them.
Their influence is immeasurable, incalculable, limitless, infinite.
you left out the Ramones, who created punk rock, and named themselves after a name Paul McCartney used to check into hotels anonymously...
Outstanding Yes you are correct ..a Paul McCartney psydenoum
they left out every single band that ever existed
John Lennon said they were doing what the Sex Pistols were doing, except in their early days they had to put a shine on it so it was acceptable.
You could say they were protopunk.
They influenced a lot alternative bands. Of course U2, Oasis, Nirvana and others were inspired by punk bands, David Bowie, etc. U2 coming out punk and continuing as a post-punk band.
It was his stage name in the early days, Paul Ramon. So Paul was the original Ramone
Those who say they were influenced by the Beatles were great bands but they didn't release a dozen ground breaking albums in eight years
Most bands were influenced by The Beatles, whether they believe it or not.
Aerosmith were also influenced by the Beatles.
Yes Steven Tyler is a Beatles freak and so am I and I am damn proud of it!
Kurt not a fan of Paul
Guess someone should have told him And I Love Her was Paul
someone told him and he suicide...
I saw a Kurt quote saying that he never knew which songs were John’s or Paul’s.
Why do you say that Beatles pampered the ears until only recently. What was the moment hat Beatles songs stopped pampering the ears ?
In the early 70s as a teenager I got interested in music. The first artists I started buying were David Bowie Aladdin sane, sweet singles LP, Slade sladest, Marc Bolan Bolan boogie, Suzi Quatro can the can .
Bee gees were also inspired by them yes there a disco pop band but That dosent mean they should not be included anyone agree
Bee Gees were not a disco group, they just had a disco phase.

@@justinstephenson9360 I agree they rock and pop So To miss them is Crimanal
Their early stuff sounds very Beatlesque
There is no album by the Beatles titled Yer Blues. That is a track on The Beatles aka The White Album.

Bowie does NOT appear in the Rutles.
@@markzappasodi Actually YES HE DOES. PICK UP RUTLES 2: ALL YOU NEED IS CASH!
@@IMeMineWho you didn't mention that it was the SECOND Rutles show! I was thinking of the first one. Must be specific.

We live in a Post Beatles world.... orders for drums and bass, guitar skyrocketing after ed Sullivan

Noelle Gallagher
Pronounce Birmingham properly
All but three of them, and nobody likes them.
Bing Crosby still sold more records.

Crosby was the all time seller until Elvis surpassed him in the late 70s.
