All the many years of effort, care, dedication to EXCELLENCE, and attention to detail by so many. It’s hard to imagine that it’s all gone now. Here I am a loyal passenger feeling sad and nearly heartbroken. I can’t imagine how painful it is for the many thousands of dedicated staff who put everything they had into making this particular ship the greatest ever. Watching videos from those glory years and now seeing this beautiful ship torn to shreds. Heartbreaking!

Having lived overseas as a child in the 60s, I was no stranger to ships (SS France, Independence, Michelangelo) but in 1990 I was dating an “anti-cruiser”…who finally condescended to go on a cruise. No doubt in my mind - I chose Sovereign. I didn’t even care about the itinerary, just wanted to bowl him over with the “ship experience”. He grumbled all the way from Albuquerque NM until we reached the pier and he entered the ship….speechless! We had the most wonderful tablemates, our “headline” entertainers were Edie Gorme and Jerry Lewis - Labadee was sensational! Thank you Sovereign! I will never forget that cruise….took Monarch on my honeymoon …😥 they’re gone now, but I’m still “loyal to Royal”!

Thx for sharing! My wife introduced me to cruising on the Souvereign in 2008: In my opinion it was only for old folks, stuffy and boring. My tune changed as soon as I saw the ship and took a step inside. So I had my first little cruise out of L.A. and even saw Dolphins from our porthole. Since than we have done many cruises. This was our most recent one: ruclips.net/video/EJ1Mpvj_a-g/видео.html

I worked in the Sovereign of the Seas as a waiter for 3 years... It was such an experience..!! I spend wonderful moments, I met a lot of people from all over the world...But I also had sad moments... I missed my family, I got so tired many times due to the hard work we had to do on board and many times I wished to go back home.
    Nice video

She was a game changer for royal Caribbean at the time. Just like how wonder if the seas is today's headlines. So sad that such a elegant and beautiful ship is now in beached in aliaga being scrapped and taken apart RIP sovereign of the seas 😢

We’ve been fortunate to sail many ships in the fleet and with other lines too. Sovereign wasn’t our first ship, but memories from times aboard her still stir great emotion in us. The fact that we elected to sail her multiple times to be with her MOST EXCELLENT crew to enjoy those wonderful days at sea, says it all.

I was onboard the Song of America on the day that Sovereign of the Seas arrived in Miami, and observed her coming up the canal (between Dodge Island and the MacArthur causeway) from the port bridge wing. A powerful sight and a great memory.

Awe, this made me teary-eyed... Sovereign of the Seas holds a very special place in my heart. She was the ship I went on my very first cruise (Halloween week of 1993). For me, her and her two sister ships were the most beautiful ocean liners of RCCL. They had the iconic wrap around Viking Crown Lounge sitting on top of them. That made them look majestically beautiful! There will never be another RCCL ship that is as beautiful as you and your two sister ships. RIP Sovereign of the Seas.

Our Mom took my sister and I on the Sovereign in the early nineties - she was pretty new and beautiful. We had the owners suite, beyond gorgeous. The staff was excellent in every department and so friendly. We lost Mom in 1995, we miss her everyday and so appreciate the gift she gave us - wonderful memories. We love you Wimp.💔

What a shame as to destroy the Sovereign, Monarch, and more.

What a beautiful video it brought tears to my eyes.Especially you can see the captain Was emotional and also one of the crew?Next to him, the sovereign was a truly great ship.I had the privilege of sailing on her over 10 times plus her sister's monarch and majesty. They were revolutionary ships, cutting edge and change the cruise industry forever.I'm truly blessed that I was able to go ahead and enjoy all of them. They will surely be missed

My wife and I of 23 yrs married sailed in Sept 1988 for 1 week of the most enjoyable time of our lives. Of course it was our honeymoon cruise, but need not to say the most incredible experience. Her valiant strength and sea worthyness prevailed that week as she confronted Hurricane Gilbert at sea and kept her cool as she battled 20+ ft seas, wow! So proud of her. Fairwell you "Soverign Lady" of the Seas and may you keep all abord safe as you live on.

I was on Sovereign Of The Seas on April 16, 2007. My Dinning room was Illusions Deck 3. I still have my card. The worker's the food and the ship were the best that I ever had the pleasure to be in. I took a cruise on Carnival on May 29, 2008. Dining: Mardi Gras. I still have the card to that ship also. But if I had a choice between Royal Caribbean and Carnival: I would choose Royal Caribbean because of the workers were wonderful and the food & ship was amazing! I miss Sovereign Of The Seas!!!!

Never managed to cruise on that vessel. I commissioned the fire alarm system when she was still in St. Nazaire, trained the staff and did some upgrade later in Miami. Was an impressive ship at that time and an unforgettable experience.
