I sailed on the Sovereign of the Seas' 4th cruise voyage in 1988. Brand new and it was fabulous. When launched, it became the Largest Passenger Ship in the world. Two more Royal Caribbean, Sovereign Class ships were subsequently built. The Monarch of the Seas launched in 1990, and The Majesty of the Seas launched in 1991. Since it was newly launched and the "Flag Ship" for Royal Caribbean at the time of my sailing, the Sovereign had a top notch crew, staff, outstanding food, and very good entertainment. It is still one of the best on Ship Cruise experiences I have had after a more than a dozen cruises over the years, Sadly, in 2020 during the COVID shutdown, The Sovereign and it's sister ship The Monarch were decommissioned, their interiors stripped of anything valuable or reusable and then taken to Turkey to be dismantled for scrap. Scrapping of both ships was completed in February 2021. "The Majesty of the Seas" was sold in December 2020 to SeaJets, a Greek/Cypriot shipping company specializing in freight and passenger ferry. As far as I know (as of 11/22/2022) the ship has remained in "cold-storage" since purchase and has been renamed "Majesty of the Ocean".

I hope majesty is saved, it’s a shame these boats weren’t around longer.
