  • Welcome back to another video from Spottersuk, in this video we’re at Swanage finally taking a trip on the direct service from the swanage heritage railway to Wareham on the South Western Mainline.
The Service itself takes just under 50 minutes onboard a Class 117 and 121 Bubble Car and we left swanage at 16:23 and arrived at wareham at 17:09.
The service itself was a pretty cool experience and certainly was a success with summer activities for family’s however i don’t think i will do the journey again due to the high price.

Wow. They've done well. The last time I was there it ran from Swanage to a car park at Norden.

That’s still the terminating station on the other end of the normal services.

@@SpottersUK Oh, OK. In 2000 there was no visible track beyond Norden. I agree with you about the 20 quid price to Wareham but maybe this will come down in the coming years. It's fairly impressive that they've managed to reconnect with the mainline.

that’s cool, i prefer the steam trains on the swanage railway. I just think it can be a bit boring with the 117. Unless they have heritage diesels in service as well

just a little bit of info! Sygents no longer works out of Corfe and is now based at norden in the headshunt siding there, (the bit where the static steam loco normally is at RtR)

i dont blame you for leaving, i have very mixed feelings on the group seeing as all we do mainly is work on the b van, the best thing we have done is definitely the trip up to Churnet Valley Railway where they are a bit more relaxed with rules letting us do alot more than we ever would be able to at Swanage. Apparently according to Aiden the rules are so strict because our P Way department dosent like us track side with trains running, makes no sense to any of us but oh well.
