    Beautiful. Good job. For anyone wondering how to make the correct cuts for the stringers on 45, the easiest way for me is to mark my riser/tread length, using my square and cut the end of my 2x12 on a 45. This is your top step/top of stringer which is placed flush up against your deck. Then use your speed square. Put it flush to the 45 (top of the square to the top of 45 degree cut), then go down the square to the tread length you want and over. mark your stringer. That’ll be your next 45 degree cut whichever direction depending on which direction the riser runs. Using the large speed square just continue sliding it all the way down to whatever length you need your stringer (last/bottom step). Example: I cut my stringers at 7” riser and 11” tread so with my square place up against my 2x12 flush at the top, I just go down to the 11” mark, then over to where the square touches my board. Make my mark. Then slide my square down to that mark and repeat the process. My riser length is 7” so Knowing that I know that my 45 cuts will be 7” deep. I know this is long but for anyone confused on how to get that length, I hope it helps. I’m also diy.. not an expert.

    No wonder it took you longer than you thought it would. It's hard to think of every little thing before starting. Sometimes you've got to figure things out as you go. Nice work. Thanks for documenting.

    The inside boards on the corners need more than one nail in them. It does look good, just afraid it might fall through.

    They look good. Did you consider stacking boxes instead of stringers in this project? Curious if you found an advantage using stringers.

      No I didn't but that would be a good idea I imagine. I found this way and kinda closed my mind to other options I guess. 😁

    I'm building something similar, yours looks awesome.
    How did you get the 45° cuts on your stringers? My saw only tilts one direction. What am I missing?

    • @adventuresofahandyman4446
      @adventuresofahandyman4446  3 года назад +2

      I’m not completely sure if I know which cut your talking about but I think I used my circular saw set at 45

    Do you put any blocking in at the bottom of your stringers or do you let the deck boards keep everything held together?

  • @michaelgollin7853
    @michaelgollin7853 Месяц назад

    Pretty sure u can use math. Its just like a hip rafter. Substitute 17 instead of 12 fir diagonal number.

    So can you just come do our deck cuz the “figure it out yourself “ got me all confused cuz that’s what I need to figure out for my deck
