One thing I'm really not a fan of is the merging of indicators, rear lights and brake light - these need to be easily identifiable in an instant to avoid being rear-ended - Everything else is a nice update.
Hello MotoBob. I watch almost every video, and you always say that you will tell us everything we should know about the relevant bike. Well if so, many viewers are eager to know, not just that there are options for a lower seat position, but what exactly are these options - the exact centimeters of the seat height with a lower seat or a lower suspension kit. Seat height is not just another detail. For many riders (I think - about 30%-40% of riders) it is a deal breaker versus a deal maker! Thanks :)
Thinking hard about a heavily discounted 2023 s1000xr in triple black with every option, including forged wheels. It would share a garage with my R1250 GSA.
Suzuki 150 horses (@11k RPM), BMW 170 horses (@11k RPM), Kawi 120 horses (@ 9k RPM). HP doesn't mean much at this level - you will not likely to feel the difference between Suzuki and BMW. I have not ridden Suzuki yet, but rode both BMW and Kawi. I find Kawi butter smooth when it comes to power delivery. These bikes are not built for track, but for comfort and rideability over a long distance. Due to Japanese Ministry of Transportation mandate all Japanese manufacturer, both Suzuki and Kawi, have limit on exhaust on its engine which are much more strict than European or North American counterpart - so if you flash ECU, you will get about 10~15% boost on its horses with a proper mapping with exhaust modification.
I understand. The 1000gt looses on comparison with the Kawasaki. You could include triumph 900gt, africa, or v100. The maintenance on non Japanese bikes are awful
So wanted to buy one a year ago. Among other brands I have A GSA and A K16GT. The issue I had was the 1000cc I4 was very buzzy through out the rev range.
BMW is going for the win in 2024. I did spec this bike and came to a price of 23 € vs. 25 € that I spec. the new 1300 GS. So yes that bike is on my mind.
You are so right. Most people I know would buy one, but the “locked in” seating position is a deal killer. For some reason, BMW seems to be deaf to this common complaint. They’d surely sell a lot more bikes if they’d address this design flaw.
@@thomasbentley5544looks like they did. At the cost of raising the overall height of the seat. I think originally they had the swoop so that they could keep the seat height the same from this model and the previous gen.
Did they resolve the well-known vibration issues with this model yet? The prior version supposedly got a LITTLE bit better from the prior model. I wonder if the new handlebar clamps addressed this issue or not...
Now to 800 with the low seat as all seat height have gone up by 10mm, and it’s debatable whether that will be any more comfortable than the previous model.
So bothing new for the usa bc rbey all cone w the comfort package. Looks like slight rear olastic rework. And 2 part seat Too bad i font see lane assist or bsm.
The XR has always been the 2-wheeled X5M to me, but now that the M1000XR is out, I suppose the regular XR has been demoted to BMW’s “M- lite” mid tier model. So sad, I feel bad for the guy haha. Anyways, configuring the new model in that Galaxy blue scheme with the carbon side panels to me is drop dead stunning. What the hell would I do with 200hp, 170 is way more than I need on any sort of highway cruising on tours. My only real issue is that my understanding is that any of the BMW 1000cc bikes have that dreaded flat spot in the midrange and need tuning out. That’s effectively adding another 1k to the price of a bike in my mind, which should’ve come from the factory as. Or is it just with the RR models?
Did I miss something, or are there no factory side-cases/luggage options for the M 1000XR? ... if so, it would be as disappointing as an M car without a trunk! 😀
They are offering some flimsy saddlebags you can add. Pretty disappointing, honestly. I would have been 100% in on the M if it retained the standard pannier option.
@@SuperSnallygaster yeah disappointing indeed! I was looking forward to at least some color-matched standard ones... This was the only 2024 bike I was looking forward to potentially break the bank on, never occurred to me that I would be sooo let down by such an obvious miss :-D
@@SuperSnallygaster I share you disappointment man... they seem to have really dropped the ball on this one! I can only imagine who quick I would have written that check if it came with color-matching hard pannier like the S1000XR... then it would have been the perfectly mad "Sport-" (check) "Tourer" (no check)
@@MCProvok I went with a full-optioned and heavily discounted 2023. While I intended to treat myself to the "M," the XR is a fantastic bike in its own right.
white is the best colour, but no way i m paying 3k m ore just for the colour, and a bundle of goodies that i m not gonna use. so BMW found a way to talk me out of buying this, cause white is the best colour for the lines of the bike
Heavy bar ends will fix it if you feel any. I hated the gen 1 vibes so probably more sensitive than most. Gen 2 feels totally different. Awesome bike 😊
The average male on Earth is 175-176cm, and producing bikes with more than 80cm seat hight is a paradox, the higher the seat the smaller the targeted minority .. wtf???
Without shaft drive its just another bike. Not good enough for touring and not good enough for track. Since K1300S there is no true tourers out there. K1600 is to big/heavy, r1250/r1300 to slow and XR no shaft drive. Bmw is now like honda lol:)

Ironic that new GS has new “rider safety aids” at £500 a pop …but discards rear light
Meh; cagers gonna cage
This has been present since 2020 and not updated on this model
@@MV-XD2 true. It's been a shit idea since then.

Love the comparisons, the more the better, makes it much more interesting, THANKS
90% of people buying adventure bikes should be buying these instead. But then, 90% of people buying jeeps should be buying minivans.
Not really, luggage capacity and passenger space/comfort and wind protection is usually better on (large) adv bike.
Have you ridden this and a GS? Very different power delivery and suspension. As a road only bike the GS wins for most people, track sure XR.
buy what you want and brings joy
I agree that’s why I didn’t follow the herd and bought an R1250RS😂
Comment of the year 👍

Wonder why the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT wasn’t included in either the horsepower or price comparison charts 🤔?
Or the Versys1000

I’ve got the 21 s1000XR TE and there’s no where in the UK that you can use the power
I like it enough that I plan to go check one out tomorrow. The lowering/seat height options will be key for me.

I just ordered the light white with M package
That old curved seat needed sorting out

The seat was indeed updated for 2024
@@thomasbentley5544looks like they did. At the cost of raising the overall height of the seat. I think originally they had the swoop so that they could keep the seat height the same from this model and the previous gen.

I really love the blue color scheme

I've done 8k miles on my '22 XR and its fine IMO, no more vibes than any other 4cyl bike.
Really hoping BMW has the 2024 on demo event this weekend at BMW Riverside, CA
What happened to Versys 1000? Why did you put ninja 1000sx dude? 😅
This with luggage or the 1300GS for light touring 2-up?
For two up and touring - GS. More comfortable, better wind protection.
I have ordered the black! Can’t wait.
Which would you choose as a the better sports tourer Kaw 1000sx or BMW S1000 XR
Between all the sports tourer frontend, I like the XR the most. It's all about the looks and then some 😂
Can I get the M package in the Black Metallic Storm color?
Is there an INTEGRATED pannier mount system for the M1000XR so I don't have to hang a girder-system mounting structure, wrecking the look?
There is not. BMW say you can get 8 liters saddlebags. So going for M XR you getting more expensive, slightly higher, less powerful version of M1000R
@@KSArlen408Thanks. Do you know if the "stock" 2024 xr1000 will have pannier provisions? but that will be 170 horsepower? Trying to sort it out....
Let’s hope they have fixed the soft camshafts
850 seat height 😢. I’m a shorty guy and all the bikes I like are so tall! 😅
I think you can lower it down to 790!

Thanks great review. My choice is blue. I have a xr 2019 love it 😢
I wouldn’t bother with one of these in either form. I much prefer the Boxer R1250RS (?) . Much better low down-mid range and shaft drive.
It's just not for you, same as boxer engine is not for me
Ducati V4 for me please. Or the Guzzi V100S.

I have a 2016 Gen 1 from new, only bike I would change for is another XR
The Mxr is a beast
Just need to figure out the 💰😅
is it’s big litre bike or a small litre bike
not stylema calipers?
Make a video on new Himalayan
What bike would you have in your garage if money was no object?
I’d take all of them. That felt like a trick question
Rsv4, ducati superleggera v4
Right!? if money were no object, I could justify at least 20 different bikes in a very nice garage.
V4 RS 👌
Have upgraded the vibration.
I wonder if the new M version has the 200 plus bhp engine?🤔
It does
So they added some padding to the seat. I often thought this felt like sitting on a plank of wood...
Non would be in my garage as I can't get my feet anywhere near the floor while sat on one!
So many new launches 🤯
Reckon this'll be the replacement for my GS. Would have been the M XR, but the black adds something like £4k! 😬
Oof, that's a shame. The M XR looks super sexy
You're mainly paying for the shiftcam version of the engine in the MXR
@MyFatherLoves yup, and I probably don't really need 165hp never mind 200.
Would be fun though.

The XR has much better mid end pull than the rr due to its more "street use" map.
pourquoi vous ne la comparer pas avec la suzuki Gsx-S 1000 GT ?
Excellente vidéo ^^
Almost 28 000 euro (in the Netherlands) with the basic accessories added 😢
you wont notice the 5bhp lol at 11,000rpm
So will there soon be an announcement of an updated S1000R for 2024?
They released the M1000R including the shiftcam technology, probably, they will include the shiftcam technology in the s1000R
Its my dream❤
