I have a 23 version and absolutely love it best bike I’ve ever had. Vibes are pretty much nonexistent. Only downside is it gonna break the law every single time you ride the bike or maybe it’s just me.
Demo’d this for a day. 170miles. My GS1300 was in for a starter relay recall. I personally preferred the horizontal twin boxer engine to this in line four. More torque, more engine breaking, more comfortable, less vibration. It’s probably a better looking bike then the GS and enjoyed the akro silencer sound. I was pleased to get back on my new GS at the end of the day.
Calimoto is ace - been using it for about 4 years now, and have been on 1000s of miles of twisty backroads, I'd have not bothered with otherwise - and with a subscription, it's saved me twice from foxed speed cameras too!
Have a 23’ S1000XR M pkg 12k miles this bike is outstanding in every way especially after the Brentune 2+!
Great review! I have the 2022 version and the problem you talked about the sidestand making the bike lean too much is due to the weak sidestand and being a press bike, many mounted the bike while in the side stand. this bend the connection between the side stand and the frame. BMW is doing warranties on it Did mine already
Great review. Love my '23
I have the 24 XR. Absolutely love the bike…. After getting it tuned and having black widow headers, it really rides like a beast.. I feel as though I’ll be keeping this bike for at least two years😂
As a previous RT owners ans GS visionary this thing is awesome. Just take a test ride.
I have a 2022 with a Bren Tune. Fantastic machine, only bad part is dealing with the dealer network. Most are not really knowledgeable about these new bikes and the price of maintenance is ridiculous.
200 dollars for an oil change is stupid. I will do the maintenance myself, but then you have to buy a 400 gs911 to reset the maintenance light and timer.
I loved the look, liked how the "reviews" described it but was very disappointed when I tried it.
The comfort, balance, electronics seem quite good, although the engine... It wakes up only once you already reach illegal speed. under 8k rpm it's as powerful as a 500-600cc.
Have you tried Dynamic and Dynamic Pro mode? Thank you.
@@EEEBA1 I have, I still found it weak compared to what I expected from a sporty bike that powerful.
Plus I'm not used to powerful bike so if you are I imagine you'd be even more disappointed.
I suppose it would be different if it was equipped with the shift cam l.
@@julest9614 I see. Thank you.
I was thinking about the 1250 RS with the boxer engine and shift cam
I wonder if that bike has more torque than the XR.
@@EEEBA1 I don't know about the RS, I tried the 1250RT though and had more fun. I didn't need to reach crazy speed to feel the power.
The GS1300 is not the one to get if you are looking for low end and mid range Grunt to get your rig moving. I suggest the Ducati V4 ...better in every way!
I’m looking at used bikes for colder weather riding so luggage, wind protection, large windscreen etc. so far I e settled on a 2012-2014 K1600 but I’ve thought of these as well.
🙏❤️ Love from Scotland ❤️🙏
This is the bike GS owners should be buying. Since most GS hardly if ever see any offroading.
that's exactly what I did!....no regrets!!!!
I didn't ride either. But GS should be more comfortable for longer rides.
I have both the S1000XR and a GS and they do compliment each other nicely.
Aye, after 8 GS’si have a 2024 XR. No regrets, no going back.
Agree , I didn’t follow the herd so I went for an R1250RS.
I’m hoping eventually BMW will build the XR model variant with a shaft drive , my old K1200S had 170bhp but wasn’t the comfiest , I didn’t want to be a Charlie on the GS but did want shaft and more comfort so I went the R1200RS route but I’d certainly be interested in the XR if it came with a shaft
A shaft drive would be interesting, however the low maintenance chain on the XR is good.
buying BMW is one thing - insuring is the other... was testing recently new GS, RT and this S10000XR . With my 6 years NCB - no quotes to insure them in Essex were available
I pay $489 a year on my 2023 1250 GSA in the US. Not expensive at all.
@@levigato125 lucky you 🙂, welcome to UK… 6 years NCB and only quote I got was 1800£ for Third party only - just because I’m too close to London
This or the 1290 SAS...🤔🤔🤔
I hope that one of these days you might do an actual review.
Probably not, you'd hate to lose those early access invites and perks.
There are other RUclips channels for that. And they don't even cover long term ownership
Fuel consumption could have nice
It's not great. I get in the upper 30s MPG or if I'm careful lower 40s.
Its what BMW X5 is in the car world and it's the only sports tourer that i would really have great bike❤❤❤
Thanks a lot
Have a 2024 Gravity Blue. Biggest issue is there are no color matched plastic inserts for the bags and you can't even really find them primed or in black so I have a sport tourer I cant tour on until BMW gets there act together With the recall on the new GS bags Im not holding my breath on getting them anytime soon
really, your issue is the color of the bags?
@@aao331 the fact that I can't even get primed lid covers to paint myself. Cost an extra $200 to get the black inserts to paint over and my BMW dealer said there were only 2 pairs of those in North Americal right now
The important question is does it have soul and character?
I own both the S1000XR and a R1200GS. Yes the S1000XR has soul and character. You have to work just a little bit to get at it, but if you press it a little the bike does everything you want it to do.
@@abcusa123mich Good to know. Might consider it for the future
All BMW motorcycles are expensive to service.
No they are not. My 310GS costs nothing and 3+ years later it's been absolutely bulletproof. ZERO..not one tiniest problem and the dealer has been more than fair with regular servicing.
Actually they are not.
@@chewylandlive That's made by TVS. I know hourly rates will be the same but the parts will be cheaper
I agree. They charge stupid money in the states. 200 dollars for 4 qts of oil and a filter service at dealer is stupid
I can do my own oil change on my 1250 GSA for less than $55.
it is not my type of bike.... i like good base speed around 2500 revs
Try to make your own Diesel bike then. Use a VW Jetta TDI for it.
😍
Johnson Maria Harris Daniel Young Melissa
850mm seat height is suicide, commercially
850mm seat. Its made for giant Germans. Lowering kit (seat + suspension) would be nice if you could be a bit more transparent and tell us the extra cost. ? £16k list price is soon blown 😢
The Porsche Cayenne Turbo of the bike world? Nice, but go mad and get the M.
To hell with it.....
My ass was sore just sat on it in the dealership….chatting with the salesman 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
dont want a inline 4
Sorry, but there's no I6, or V6... 4 gotta do it.
K1600 has i-6 @@johnnyblue4799
32mpg is worse than a Honda civic
Thanks for the warning, my local is so Fuked, I would take a bmw for free 💩🖕🏻
BMW = Bring More Wallet. Motorcycling is a dying sport. Manufacturers are insane at these prices.
