We stayed in the Equestrian area of the park and enjoyed it very much here! Curt Gowdy has extensive mountain biking trails that have different skill levels. It is very popular in the region for the trails. As I mentioned before, there are also equestrian trails and a nice area to overnight with horses. A couple of corrals are available. Curt Gowdy Park is situated between Cheyenne and Laramie, both easily accessed for dining and entertainment. The rock formations are amazing; especially at dusk! Loved our stay here! Just a heads up, there are plenty of prairie dogs, so watch for holes!

Thank you for this valuable additional information. I will pin your comment to the top for the benefit of others! And yes, watch for those holes is indeed sound advice. Even when walking the dogs they can trip in the them, which mine did multiple times. Thank you again!

I just drove from Battle Pass, through the forest, to Steamboat Springs. It was fabulous! Highly recommended snowy mountain range pass and mirror lake on the way. (About an hour from your location)
Interesting, Edison came to Rawlins for an eclipse and got the idea for a light bulb while fishing/fishing line. Just before you get to the continental divide. The roads were just bare, forest, dirt roads but worth getting my car dirty because all the snow melt running into beautiful streams and creeks! Suffice it to say I got some super fabulous photos. When I arrived in Steamboat Springs Colorado, the scene was just as fabulous! There's a beach? That makes me laugh, "The beaches of Cheyenne," subject of country music songs!

Used to go fishing there with my father in the mid-60s. They've improved the area a lot since then.

I think they did lots of improvements in the 70's based on the research I did. Thank you for watching and commenting.

What a nice state park! I love Wyoming and this place is really nice. It's a shame they don't have a dump station but I guess it would not be too hard to find one. Safe travels!

It’s the only place we’ve been that didn’t have full hookups, but despite that it was one of our favorites - about the closest we’ve come to actually camping! ;)

@@okletsgorv Thanks for the reply! Yes, we boondock a lot so the lack of hookups is normal for us. That said, when we do boondock, it is always nice to have access to a dump station. Then again, it is not a huge problem because we can usually find one somewhere relatively closeby. Safe travels!

You can bring boats in but no swimming? That's crazy!

Yes, it’s kind of counter intuitive. But it’s typical of public water supplies. The logic is that human bacteria and human access is a lot harder to control & police than boats. It’s a well documented perspective through the country as well as other nations.

    No full hookups. I'll pass.
