I am thanking God for you! It took hours of hours of me stressing over making hats for my six year old niece. Your guide gave me the TRYE CONFIDENCE to make two of them in one day!!!! Luv u much❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤❤ I’ve been crocheting for years but mostly afghans and some scarves. I just started doing beanies for babies and adults. Everywhere I looked I found different sizes. YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER..!!!!! Thank you so much!!!
Do you have any information on ribbing for the hats? I find a lot of tutorials work bottom up and I do not like it. What length of ribbing for each hat and is it deducted from the hat length?
It doesn't really matter how many stitches you start with using this technique because you are increasing in each row until the crown measures the right length. That being said I usually start with 6 stitches, just because I like an even number in the first row.
@loopedandknotted3256 beginning # of stitches will matter cause the more stitches you start with, the bigger stitch count it will have from the increases. Ex: if I start with 10 hdc 5mm & #4 yarn and continue in sequenced increases until 5in" (crown), I'll have (72 hdc). That would be a big hat for a 3-6month old, due to all the increases. The reason why it will always measure the same regardless of start # stitches is because the height of the hdc will remain the same, but the circumference of the hat truly depends on # of stitches. 🤷♀️
I started MR 12 DC after 3rd row, 36 dc, and 4 1/2 in. Another one 10 DC in MR. 3rd round 30 DC same measurement. Confused because 6 stitches can influence the size of the hat??
@donnathompson6694 because I was using a chunky yarn. You can start with as many as you want, just continue to work increase rows until you reach the desired diameter.
When u went to second rd u said u have 12 hdc but I got 14 and I counted ur stiches and u had 14 as well am I off or what like I watch 3x and done 3x and still get 14
Finally..a video that is actually helpful. Thank you.
This makes it so much easier. With different hook sizes and different yarns is is such a guess work. Thank you.
Just found you. You just solved my Christmas for grandkids. Thank you

Thank you I’m new at crocheting and this has helped so much 😊😊
You didn’t account for negative ease. That’s a game changer and the key measurement for a crocheted hat.
Thank you so much for the sizing info!!!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Hello, love the tutorial! I was wondering if the measurements can be used to make a bucket hat?
00:19 circumference
1:32 crown width
2:12 length
Thank you so much😂🥰😘🌺💐❣️
Do you have any information on ribbing for the hats?
I find a lot of tutorials work bottom up and I do not like it.
What length of ribbing for each hat and is it deducted from the hat length?
On the ones that go 7.25 to 7.5 do you leave it right in between ? Or does it matter if it’s closer to one measurement?
ABSOLUTELY 💯
Thank you. You took the guessing out of sizing.
Help! Mine does not lay flat!! I’m doing multiples of 12 and double with a 4.5mm hook. It fits fine but it’s not flat
Same! Mine is pointy. Idk what I did wrong
I have a heck of a time making the magic circle, can I do the slip knot instead?
You can make a small chain of 3 or four and join them to make a loop. Then work your first row of stitches around that loop.

How do you know how many stitches to start with in your magic circle, i want to make a beanie for my 18 month old so im not too sure x
It doesn't really matter how many stitches you start with using this technique because you are increasing in each row until the crown measures the right length. That being said I usually start with 6 stitches, just because I like an even number in the first row.

I think it doesn't matter, because you keep increasing until the width of the crown (according to the measurements she gave) :)
So for teen/ small adult would be around 11 years old right? That would be 21' circumference and 6.5' to 7' for crown correct?
Yes these are the measurements for a teen beanie. The best way to know is to measure the head circumference of the person as everyone is different.
Why did she only put 6 stitches n MR? Instead of 10 or 12?
@donnathompson6694 because I was using a chunky yarn. You can start with as many as you want, just continue to work increase rows until you reach the desired diameter.
I’m not good with circumferences and I’m trying to make a beanie for my baby niece can someone tell me the length it has to be so I can make it😢
Anything from 5 to 6 inches long
Is it the same to size Like this for a sun hat or a hat with a brim on it?
It really depends on the pattern with diffrent hat styles.
When u went to second rd u said u have 12 hdc but I got 14 and I counted ur stiches and u had 14 as well am I off or what like I watch 3x and done 3x and still get 14
I think you're right. It should be 6 stitches in the first round and a chain 2 with 2 stitches in each stitch to total 12.
This is the problem I’ve had with every single top down beanie tutorial. 😒
Is it ok if it starts to curl up a little in the beginning?
Yes

What size hook are you using?
Use the size hook that is recommended on the yarn you are using.
How can I crochet this hat with a thin yarn?
The same way. Just keep working rounds until you reach the right circumference, then work on the length.
Crown min 1:21
W
U r not crocheting but knitting
Crocheting is using one crochet hook. Knitting uses two Knitting needles.
