@@hunsinger Good argument and I agree. Defiantly rice should be added with consideration to other ingredients but I think rice is essential for a good burrito.
This takes me back. About 7 years ago, we opened an Austin Grill franchise that lasted a couple years. Essentially the same concept as Chipotle that was starting to gain grounds here in Toronto Canada. The rice we did was a "mexican tomato rice", pico de gallo freshly made daily, guac, sauted peppers and onions, black beans were seperate, but the chicken is I swear made the exact same way. Did well initially but people kept demanding for basic burgers, fries, and poutine because that's what it was previously in that spot. Couple years later and we put a Smokes Poutinerie, that only lasted 2 years too.
Young man! I have to tell you, my husband and I enjoyed this. OMG delicious! It had so many freaking steps and ingredients. But, all worth it. I wanted to send you a picture, but I/we couldn’t wait we had to eat it. We both agree, you have skills!
I used to manage a Chipotle, so I was curious about this video. Back when I was there, we legit did make everything ourselves. I'd show up at 6am to start prep work. Make all the salsas, mash avocados and make guacamole, chop all the veggies by hand, even shredded all the cheese ourselves, and cut fresh limes for juice to squeeze onto the chips. By the time I left, the former CEO of Taco Bell had taken the reins of the company, and just as I suspected it would, things started getting more artificial. We would no longer even marinate our own meat, it would come in a bag, pre-marinated, and the quality of the meat was noticeably worse and the seasoning was much weaker. Started getting pre-chopped veggies, except for the peppers. Who knows how it is now. Used to have pride in my work, then it just started feeling like fast food.
This is untrue and just lies; as someone who recently had their own chipotle location I can tell you all the meat comes fresh and is marinated by hand right there before being grilled. If you or the person whom posted this content were being honest you'd point out the fact he didn't add any lettuce grilled veggies pico de Gallo tomatoes cheese etc. Just rice and protein.

Try Amazon! You can order all sorts of dried chillies,, I would actualy suggest hatch green chillies.. I make green chile stew all the time with them and use it on my burritos. Or sometimes use it as a stew and make tortillas and just dunk them in the stew.. its a lovely thing when its getting chilly in the fall Best of luck with your cooking burritos! Chipotle was my first job and I stayed with them throughout a lot of changes, good and bad. Definitely one of the best quick service/fast food chain restaurants for your money. Treats employees well (being a manager straight up sucks though), great benefits. The prime was definitely when they hand marinated the chicken, diced whole tomatoes for pico, and actually used raw steak. Now the chicken comes in pre marinated bags, and the other meats come pre cooked in sous vide bags. Having worked for the company, I understand how impractical the idea is from the POV of cost, labor, time, and pure volume, but the quality of the meats would be so much better if they braised pork butt and beef shoulder in house. And to current employees - I still have no idea why they dont use dicers for onions and jalapenos instead of doing it all by hand. Quitting that job saved I dont even know how many years on my wrist.
Saved this to continue my new recipe every month this year and it did not disappoint. I just made the chicken tonight and it has become my new favorite chicken. The flavor was amazing. Thank you so much Josh for the video. Keep up the great work can’t wait to try more.

He right tho, Rice cooker cooks the best rice, its easier and isnt time consuming, just leave it there and come back when its done, easy. And I think any asian household would prefer rice cooker than saucepan/pot cooked ones tbh
A good majority of people tend to undersalt their food, even if at all. The later of those two are absolutely insane! People are blindsided by science, and FDA dummies telling you to watch your Sodium, that's a misnomer. Season liberally, but accordingly. If you like bland food, that's all you and perfectly fine. There's a reason why Salt is the number 1 most used seasoning in kitchens. All chefs, cooks, or culinary professionals are taught to season liberally, or accordingly. When you use Iodized Table Salt versus Kosher type (larger crystal) you can use less (Kosher) than you would with traditional Iodized varieties. Some call it "PopCorn Salt". In professional kitchens, you most likely will see Kosher.
My favorite way to get the max taste from grilled/seared chicken is doing it the way you do. Sear it, get the char, then finish cooking in oven Or the slow cooker. I'm gonna try that marinade!! I've been trying to figure it out because i worked at Chip a long time ago and miss the flavor but don't miss the 2k calories and high $$$.
I work at Chipotle and I just came to say that there should have been a bay leaf in the rice :3 other than that, I appreciate the sub for white onion instead of red onion and I like the addition of bacon with the beans, definitely going to have to try that at home!
As a half puertorriqueña, I kinda like cooking my rice with a caldero to get just a teeeeny bit of burnt rice at the bottom. The beans were the best part tbh, best thing I’ve ever made
This takes me back.

Not gonna lie even tho. It's still pretty good. Can't say the same about Taco Bell. The chicken is still fire 🔥.
