    Do you have any tips for growing a sun flower in a basement.

    • @Worldwidegiantgrowers
      @Worldwidegiantgrowers  7 месяцев назад +1

      Mine hasn’t been doing that good. The lower leaves have been looking funky and I’ve been cutting them off as it grows up so this is my first time trying it maybe Tony from Canton Ohio might come on here and make a suggestion. He’s got one growing in his basement.

    Going to be my 1st year growing seeds from an established grower. So excited. 500 lbs is my goal. Can't wait for this season.

      Me too I’m excited and this is like my 20th year growing. Counting the years, I took off and all.

      @Worldwidegiantgrowers I've got around 8 years. Until 2 years ago, I had no idea what I was doing and what youtube could teach you. It has been a game changer. Over the last 2 years, I've (me) grown exponentially

      500 pounds should be easy. Just keep the insects off the plants and water the plant twice a week and you will blow 500 pounds away.

    Always love watching what you’re doing. I’ve gotten so many idea.
    I was at a seminar and Trichoderma could be used as an anti fungal as it’s an antagonist species too. Pretty cool stuff.

    How long before expected last frost date do you start your pumpkins?

    • @Worldwidegiantgrowers
      @Worldwidegiantgrowers  7 месяцев назад +1

      I don’t use the frost date because I’m putting mine in cold frames with heaters so the frost doesn’t really mean much our frost date is usually memorial weekend but I’m starting my Seeds the first week of April maybe April 10

    • @Worldwidegiantgrowers
      @Worldwidegiantgrowers  7 месяцев назад +1

      If you’re just trying to grow a pumpkin 500 pounds to 1000 pounds, you could put the seeds directly in the ground memorial weekend or you could start your plants in the house 10 days before memorial weekend and then put them in the ground. Not sure how serious you want to be.

      @@Worldwidegiantgrowersthanks! That’s about what I thought. I saw you starting seeds in February and I was shocked because I live in a much warmer climate than you!

    • @Worldwidegiantgrowers
      @Worldwidegiantgrowers  7 месяцев назад +1

      @hunterarmstrong20 I won’t start my Seeds till early April and I will watch the weather and decide April 3 or April 10 in that range. I will start them but I want to get a really early start if possible.

    U use kelp or fish?

    • @Worldwidegiantgrowers
      @Worldwidegiantgrowers  7 месяцев назад +1

      I use wow Wallace seaweed powder, which is kelp. This is your amino acids.

    • @Worldwidegiantgrowers
      @Worldwidegiantgrowers  7 месяцев назад +1

      I don’t use smelly fish products in my garden. I don’t want to draw raccoons into the garden, but I do like kelp for amino acids.

    Do you use a PAR meter? I'm curious what made you implement the shade cloth, it seems like the light is already really high?

    • @Worldwidegiantgrowers
      @Worldwidegiantgrowers  7 месяцев назад +1

      I was afraid of burning the plants so I set the light too high of since brought it down and turned down the intensity so the ppfd now is like 200 range It was like 500 I was frying them, but the light was too high so I don’t know if I actually was frying them lol.

    I'm still watching but I have to stop here. Why do you have a CO2 meter if your not manipulating the CO2? And how the heck is it at 2800?!?!?? That seems like much higher than you would ever have it, even with CO2 tanks.

    • @Worldwidegiantgrowers
      @Worldwidegiantgrowers  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, I think the thing went goofy. I don’t know if it was the paint fumes. I painted the walls white with some cabinet paint epoxy based cabinet paint some real stinky stuff. I think it made the detector go crazy I just wanted to see what the ambient CO2 was in the room?

    Hey mark, just sent a RUclips video of the weedy gardener in Oz to you , he is a very interesting bloke and in this video he does a test on raising seedlings with store bought soils and his own soil, he also makes his own soil and lactobacillus bacteria in many other videos and explains how plants get their nutrients and how light etc works, he's so into it he shows you how the micro organisms work on his plants and soil with a micro scope and time lapse film. He is a cinematographer and makes very informative videos, cheers love from 🦘🦘🦘🦘
