    About Blur:
Blur were formed in 1989 by Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree and signed with Food/EMI the same year. Announcing their arrival with debut album Leisure in 1991, Blur continued to revolutionise the sound of English popular music with second release Modern Life Is Rubbish (1993). Five successive UK #1 albums followed - with Parklife (1994) and The Great Escape (1995) helping to propel the band to mass popularity in the UK and beyond. The eponymous Blur was released in (1997) and seventh album Think Tank (2003) was Blur’s first as a three-piece after the temporary departure of founding guitarist Graham Coxon.
Twenty one years after the release of their debut album, 2012 saw Blur 21: The Box, the band's body of work compiled and gathered together into one box. Their most recent release as a four-piece, the critically acclaimed chart-topping album The Magic Whip (2015), started life in Hong Kong when the band had an unexpected break in touring in May 2013.

@@gliderchucker9644 Had to google that one: promo for a best-of in 2000, so no wonder I didn't know it, as I don't tend to buy best-ofs, especially if I already have the studio albums. I think Think Tank and probably/possibly 13 had a few proto-Gorillaz tracks on them - though both of those are after Gorillaz had started.
I do love this one for its Gorillaz vibe though. Been playing it in the car the last couple of days as we'd recently got hold of the reissue of Bustin' + Dronin' and that has three versions of it.
Think I'd better play MiMR next though, thanks...

I was a massive fan of Blur back in the day, especially for Damon Albarn! (I still am a fan, but I love plenty of other music too). One thing that makes Blur's sound so unique is that, (as far as I'm aware), Damon Albarn is the only famous musician to play a home organ. This is one of their songs where that instrument is very prominent. Others include "Lot 105", "Fade Away" & "Theme From Retro".
I used to have a home organ. Those were good instruments, but they took up so much space that very few people wanted them. The closest popular instrument to a home organ is farfisa organ.

    One of their best.
I love BLUR mostly when they have this mix of ...
LoFi ... BluesGuitar ... Big Beat Drums .. distorted weird rythmic phrases .. Albarn filtered vocals bandpass filter and some echoes...
Like "Death of a Party" ... "Caravan" ... "Pyonjang" .. "New world towers" ..
This special very psychological mindfuck psychedelic sound, these chorusses, this worldclass melodies and hooklines..
Some weird trauma nightmarish dreams but it does not matter style hard to explain ..
And all the time its cool, even when its pathetic. Masters of their kind.

    The death of the party
    Came as no surprise
    Why did we bother
    Should have stayed away
    Another night
    And I thought well well
    Go to another party
    And hang myself
    Gently on the shelf
    The death of the teenager
    Standing on his own
    Why did he bother
    Should have slept alone
    Another night
    And I thought well well
    Go to another party
    And hang myself
    Gently on the shelf
    Another night
    And I thought well well
    Go to another party
    And hang myself
    Gently on the shelf
    Another night
    And I thought well well
    Go to another party
    And hang myself
    Another night
    And I thought well well
    Go to another party
    And hang myself

One of the most earworm songs for me. Maybe because it's the little brother of The Specials' Ghost Town.

Funny you said that, because Damon is a fan of The Specials and he even sampled that song for Slow Country by Gorillaz
Anyway, yeah...I'm so in love with both songs, truly genius songwriting!
