1) they sacked corusaunt 2)they destroyed the Jedi temple and all within it 3)they stormed the senate tower taking all the senators hostage 4)they executed the chancellor 5)all of this happened in what seems to be 1 day The Great Galactic War might very well be my favorite war in Star Wars
I agree, while they didnt conquer the entire galaxy they held nearly half the known galaxy at the time for considerable amount of years. I think the new sith wars may been more devastating but the advancement of technology in this era i think was at its peak. This era is my favorite era
Geetsly's I'm confused as to where this takes place... is this before or after the Clone Wars? because whenever I hear anything about the Old Republic I would assume it's before the Clone Wars but then there's a bunch of people who have armor that looks very very similar to clone armor so where exactly in the timeline is this
Geetsly's do more old republic stories and can one of those videos explain everything about all nine party members origins in the first knights of the old republic game
Ultra9 - Green Gaming be careful what you wish for. Disney will probably shit on the expanded universe and change it to something much more boring and without Revan
consider all events canon unless said otherwise by a comic, book or movie and tv show. honeslty when they eventually do cover the old republic it will likely be very similar
@@chiefgreef357 If it conflicts with George Lucas whether in words, themes, or vision, that's where I draw the line. As far as how Disney treats Obi-Wan's character is probably the biggest example. Other than that I'm fine to ignore whatever garbage they make and accept it as cannon.
I do very much like the fact that you're covering the old republic era. Personally, it's my favorite era, with so many cool things being so commonplace, like sith, mandalorians, Rakata (or even just their technology) and really good storytelling.
the hell is the first order? oh yeah from that horrible mickey mouse fanfic...yeaah...i only know orgniazations like the vong and imperial remnant and fel imperium and vagaari empire and the chiss ascendancy and the ssi ruu and the rakata and zakuul an- actually this could take a million years..so lets move on
anyone notice how the Republic always blame the jedi order for there dumb moves one time it was there fault ( yoda's jedi order ) but this time it was their fault the jedi tried to warn them before the war but they didn't listen
Some Jedi nearby: Ah it's just one Lightsaber guys, we can handle-! A bunch of Sith inside the ship: Alright, let me explain. *takes out every single one of their lightsabers*
I just wanna say this. From the videos on the OR it seems like everyone was more badass back then compared to now. Really though a clone charged a damn Sith Lord, not to mention the GrandMaster launched the Sith Lord through a mountain like a doll I've never seen any other Jedi or clone do that in the NR and GE
I think it was because they actively had to fight the Sith on an almost daily basis, by the time the prequels start, the Jedi believe the Sith had been extinct for hundreds of years. The only times they had to clash with other force users, were the rare fallen Jedi.
Based on what happened during this war, the only other Legends war that took more lives was the Yuuzhan Vong. I would like to hear about the next war after the Cold War, as playing TOR doesnt really explain it and just sorta pushes it aside like no big deal.
I really like the new videos on the old republic because I think that the fans who have only watched the movies might be interested in learning about a different time period
" For every one republic soldier that died, the Imperials lost ten. " That's because you're sending troopers against COMMANDOS, BROTHER. WOO! WRISTBLADES. ( I like that you even get wristblades in game if you play a commando. )
The Republic was mainly comprised of Standard troopers, with much inferior armor, which had about the same life expectancy of a frontline Sith Trooper. Noe take into consideration Sith Commandos and Heavy Sith Troopers, and you see how this war was truly a stalemate, won only by tactic and deception.
Keima Karatsugi That's the issue with the lore thousands of years go by and warfare is virtually fought the same way. They should put this hundreds of years ago instead but that's just my opinion.
Shane Fowlstone I know right I will always love those type of armours. Also there are a lot of things similar to the movies like the cruisers, tie fighters, the droid army. Tbh it looks like when the clone wars era and the galactic war era had a baby
3:05 Thats the problem the Jedi Order had during the clone wars. They didnt do this. They let Palpatine basically run his own propaganda and either didnt notice or turned a blind eye to it.
I think old republic was not only more advanced than what we saw in clone wars and galactic civil war. But i think it was larger on scale than the clone wars. With only the new sith wars that took place after this era and before hte brother hood of darkness being bigger than it if memory serves. Should do video to rate which conflict caused the most damage
Eternal Empire, after Emperor Valkorion's death his son Arcann started the war and his "excuse" was his fathers murder by outlander, Arcann conquered every faction opposing them in one year, Hutts, Republic, Sith Empire everyone who did not allow Arcann to be in control. After the war ended Arcann signed treatys with Republic and Empire which included giving monthly supplies to them choking their economy. So long as they paid the "bills" Arcann did not invade planets directly, but he still placed huge orbital stations above key worlds to prevent uprisings these were "Star fortresses". So Eternal Empire did not control much area and controlled whole galaxy at the same time. By this I mean they hold only few planets with manpower, like Darvannis for example. Those worlds which Eternal Empire had no troops on were watched by Star fortresses and those poorest of poor planets which did not have any kind of forces watching them were usually simply too poor to do anything. Also if even a single action of hostility happened (rebellion destroying something that belonged to eternal empire), Eternal Fleet was sent to bombard the planet usually, for example Bothawui was bombarded by Star fortress after its rebels tried to knock down the shields protecting the star fortress results were brutal, cities in ruins thousands dead. sorry for my novel but this should give you much information about how they controlled everything and what they controlled lol feel free to ask if you have more questions :P tho I am sure Geetsly could make better explanations than me so the idea of it being in a video is good.
Am I the only one who wants a fps dedicated to the perspective of dolores of both sides, very similar to ww1, trying to display the horrors of war, the mud, the violence and everything. A much slower paced game. I also sometimes imagine it with trench warfare for no reason, but it would add to the texture of the game, the disgusting living conditions of the soldiers. For a while, Star Wars has been trying to glorify war as a cool thing, putting everything in the perspective of Sith and Jedi, portraying them as the heroes of each side, when K always consider the soldiers, whoa re sent away to die, and do the dirty work as the heroes of each side.
I have heard that in the wars of the old republic, much knowledge and technology had been lost, due to the constant deaths of both Jedi and Sith, and also the great destruction of the planets , I GUESS THAT THIS IS RIGHT
Knowledge can be lost to time, especially if it isn't used. Once the war was concluded, much of the military tactics and technologies were rendered almost useless, and therefore lost as no wars were fought. Or, it may look more advanced but that doesn't necessarily mean it is. I'm not sure about this, but my guess would be things such as turbo laser cannons were more advanced in the clone wars, but that doesn't necessarily show. And in terms of size, this war was bigger than the clone wars, so that could also be a sign. And even another reason could be this is a video game that can create special effects for it that are hard to do in real live action films (probably the real reason tbh, but the others make sense in terms of lore)
There comes a point where technology is so advanced, that massive leaps forward are no longer possible. The technology in the Star Wars universe has reached this point, and so there aren't many great advances to be made. It's pretty stagnant, and has been for thousands of years before the movie era. And while it may look like it's more advanced during the Old Republic era, it in fact is not. The ships and weapons are outdated during the prequel and original trilogy eras, but the technology is more or less the same, only with slight improvements. Think of it as Apple's iPhones. New versions come out pretty often, but there's only slight improvements, and otherwise they are the exact same device..
A question: During the Clone Wars, I hear Republic Soldiers like the ones shown in the video were still in service and actively fought and protected the core worlds as the Clone Army didn't make up the entire Republic Military strength. Is this true?
Yes, the Republic still enlisted regular soldiers during the clone wars, and not just to protect the core worlds, but many of the frontline officers and naval officers were normal humans.
i would like to know for once how all these designs are so similiar, talking ships & republic trooper armor - compared to clone / storm / first order troopers & ships (star destroyers, ties etc.) seems weird to me, what is the technological upgrade? what makes the kamino cloners design clone troopers similiar to republic troopers BUT thousands of years later - same for ships & did the tech even evolve? armor, weapons, ships, shields etc. edit: * xwings, smuggler ships, walkers - are we talking about enterprisers / industry that old?

I really wish SWTOR returned to Galactic Republic vs Sith Empire... That's the best part of the era and the game. 3rd party factions for expansions are getting pretty old.
1) they sacked corusaunt
2)they destroyed the Jedi temple and all within it
3)they stormed the senate tower taking all the senators hostage
4)they executed the chancellor

The battles are probably the best part about the Old Republic..
Geetsly's I'm confused as to where this takes place...
is this before or after the Clone Wars?
because whenever I hear anything about the Old Republic I would assume it's before the Clone Wars but then there's a bunch of people who have armor that looks very very similar to clone armor
so where exactly in the timeline is this
The Great galactic war was roughly 3,500 years before the clone wars
Geetsly's holy heck thats far
so is the armor just a republic thing?
because I thought the Clone armor was specified just for them...
Geetsly's I think Darth Malgus or Darth Revan are the best thing about TOR. But the battles especially the duels are awesome.
Geetsly's do more old republic stories and can one of those videos explain everything about all nine party members origins in the first knights of the old republic game
I hope that "The Old Republic" gets its own tv show/movie, its a great story and should be in the spotlight, at least for a little while.
Ultra9 - Green Gaming sign the petition, it's got like 250,000 backers
What is the link?
Still a good story with new stories being added to it, everyone should keep playing it.
Ultra9 - Green Gaming be careful what you wish for. Disney will probably shit on the expanded universe and change it to something much more boring and without Revan
they cant do that, everybody would hate on them! it would be like putting jar jar in episode 8
KOTOR and SWTOR lore will always be canon to me. No matter what the Disney executives say.
ToLegitt2Quit same
consider all events canon unless said otherwise by a comic, book or movie and tv show. honeslty when they eventually do cover the old republic it will likely be very similar

Gotta love the old republic ;)
7:31
Jedi: "One guy?"
*more light sabers ignight*
Jedi: "Oh..."
AmGay Production ha that is good
AmGay Production no it is Jedi: two guys?
Sith: more lightsaber ingnht
Jedi: Oh that’s great
I do very much like the fact that you're covering the old republic era. Personally, it's my favorite era, with so many cool things being so commonplace, like sith, mandalorians, Rakata (or even just their technology) and really good storytelling.
Ah yes, the twenty eight year long lighting war
Joe Sauter it's a big galaxy haha glad someone called this out
If they made the unknown regions known, evil things like the First Order and the Sith Empire wouldn't be able to be a thing.
Gerbil Nolan. nah. They'd go to the deep core worlds.
the hell is the first order? oh yeah from that horrible mickey mouse fanfic...yeaah...i only know orgniazations like the vong and imperial remnant and fel imperium and vagaari empire and the chiss ascendancy and the ssi ruu and the rakata and zakuul an- actually this could take a million years..so lets move on
The.Old Republic era to me is the best part of Star Wars
Loving the old republic lore so far. I would like to know more about the republic troopers, they're just downright awesome looking.
the cool ones are the RSF (Republic Special Forces) they are basically badass enough to take out sith.
Wille Nielsen Havoc Squad!
Sith Crusade you say???
* Takes Out Lightsaber *
WE WILL RETAKE KORRIBAN!!
DUES VULT!!!
DEUS VULT
anyone notice how the Republic always blame the jedi order for there dumb moves one time it was there fault ( yoda's jedi order ) but this time it was their fault the jedi tried to warn them before the war but they didn't listen
Those were all “Listen to your elders...ESPECIALLY if said elders can use the Force!” moments.
They didn't clone armies back then
Malgus was right,
We should've kept courscant and continued our conquest
Based on what happened during this war, the only other Legends war that took more lives was the Yuuzhan Vong. I would like to hear about the next war after the Cold War, as playing TOR doesnt really explain it and just sorta pushes it aside like no big deal.
Geetsly, I love the Old Republic videos. Keep em coming
7:31 best part of the olf republic cinematics
I love the old republic stroy lines! great video!
What's the music in the background at 1:02?
I really like this change of pace with the story
I really like the new videos on the old republic because I think that the fans who have only watched the movies might be interested in learning about a different time period
The blitzkrieg... IN SPACE!!!
Whats the background song? at the beginning, around 2:00 or so.
9:40 when does this battle take place?
Roughly 3,600 years before the movies
Forgive me for my ignorance, but what is the clip from 6:45 onward from? Is it a game?
Noah Gardner it's knights of the old republic. The trailers are much cooler than the actual game
What game/movie is this from? @ 1:40
Can't wait for the next video on this!
what's the background music at around 1:00?
I' am a huge fan of Star Wars, but this is the first time I am getting into this old republic era, and I say it's pretty damn interesting
For the people who are constantly asking where the Cut scene is from. Its SWTOR (Star Wars the Old Republic) game cut scenes made my EA as an MMoRpg
Loooove the old republic, pls do more!
Perfect series/movie material
Surprised you forgot to add the battle for Alderaan, which heavily damaged Malgus a couple of years prior to the raid on Cosuscant.
I think that the with are the best part about the old republic just everything about them is awesome and what's with the sound track Geeslys
Dana - Vibe Tracks. Enjoy
I Loooooooove the old republic lore! keep it up
at 4:49 why is that republic trooper holding a dc15s
@7:10 another happy landing.
" For every one republic soldier that died, the Imperials lost ten. " That's because you're sending troopers against COMMANDOS, BROTHER. WOO! WRISTBLADES. ( I like that you even get wristblades in game if you play a commando. )

Very informative for people who don't own it can't play the game
Why are those troops look like clones? I thought it was thousands of years before the clone wars?
Keima Karatsugi That's the issue with the lore thousands of years go by and warfare is virtually fought the same way. They should put this hundreds of years ago instead but that's just my opinion.
Keima Karatsugi Well the clones were probably based off of them, the republic troops look really badass anyways
Shane Fowlstone I know right I will always love those type of armours. Also there are a lot of things similar to the movies like the cruisers, tie fighters, the droid army. Tbh it looks like when the clone wars era and the galactic war era had a baby
Shane Fowlstone they look like they blast ass and ask question never
Yeah BUUUT, this Republic had the Hammerheads first.
Not the Rebels.
please keep this story going!!!
I just LOVED the old republic, like if you agree
In the next video please make a video on the infamous Havoc Squad. That would be awesome if you could do that. Thanks :)
3:05 Thats the problem the Jedi Order had during the clone wars. They didnt do this. They let Palpatine basically run his own propaganda and either didnt notice or turned a blind eye to it.
Where is the video with the people being slaughtered in the temple from?
Search up "Old republic cinematic" and you will find all the cinematics for the game on YT.
1 so does the old Republic take place after or before the 2 trilogies? 2 are the guys in the armor clones or receuits?3 if clones how?
derp lord 1.before
2.they're recruits
Cool! I like the old republic and legends/expanded universe just because of all the cool looking Sith Lords.
Toad 1000 Pshhh the battles are the best part of the old republic.
I love the old republic it's the best of the Star Wars universe
Just curious about the clones in the Old Republic? who was the host?. They seem like some tough SOBs
Roberto Castro they were mostly volunteers
whits type og battle droide they use in old rebublic trailer?
The great galactic war left its mark on history.
Could you make a video about the mandalorians during the old republic? I think they're one of the most interesting parts of it.
So were the clones armour based off of old Republic armour? But with a little mix of madelorian?
I love the old republic pls do more videos thanks
I think old republic was not only more advanced than what we saw in clone wars and galactic civil war. But i think it was larger on scale than the clone wars. Can you make a video about where the Eternal empire controlled?
Do you mean where the Eternal Empire was controlled or what they controlled?
The second one :)
Eternal Empire, after Emperor Valkorion's death his son Arcann started the war and his "excuse" was his fathers murder by outlander, Arcann conquered every faction opposing them in one year, Hutts, Republic, Sith Empire everyone who did not allow Arcann to be in control. sorry for my novel but this should give you much information about how they controlled everything and what they controlled lol
feel free to ask if you have more questions :P
tho I am sure Geetsly could make better explanations than me so the idea of it being in a video is good.
Thanks loads for this!
What song was that during the beginning of the video

I like the pace
Do More Battles that crippled the old Republic
do a video on old Republic armor
What was the sith army made of ? All of them were sith or they also recruted civilians ?
Please do an in depth video about The Battle of Bothawui :D
please do a video on the old republic soldiers(clone look a likes), i think we all would enjoy that
U know it seems like being a sith sucks balls. your master could kill u at any time or your apprentice betrays u.
could you talk about the 9th battalion dragon corp, I heard that they were in star wars but I can't find much on them
Why does everything look more advanced if the old republic takes place thousands of years before?
fuck canon

Zoveia k
They seriously need to make a old replibif series on netflix like an animated game of thrones
I swear to god when I saw the bunch of with when the sith crashed landed in the temple with tons of them as a surpirse scared me
@geetslys why wasnt anakin killed by the clones when order 66 was initiated i dont know if you have done this before

You've gotta love Malgus
So what battle was in the Hope trailer thi.g
LOVE THE CONTENT
What was the bg music? I really liked it.
Dana - Vibe Tracks. Enjoy
What's the song in the background??
Dana - Vibe Tracks
What are those old Republic clips from? I've never even heard of something like that.
Star Wars the Old Republic its a game cut scene
Commander Wolffe Thank you so much.
Fun Fact: The Blitzkrieg was a German strategy used in WW2 the Germans used it alot because it was successful most of the time.
Sergio Sandoval that was just a title they gave the technique. Similar tactics have been seen throughout history
Yeah, they also invented it
MartianProductions thanks almost forgot that part have a good day everyone!
Sergio Sandoval doesn't it mean "lightning" in German?
I heard it worked and then russian winter hit when they reached a little place known as stalingrad.
The battles/war was the best part about the MMO imo.
It's called Strategic Information Service (or SIS) not Republic Intelligence
I want to learn more about the old republic
What was the war after this one
Im very confused with the time line. Is this after or before the movies?
Josue Hernandez over 3000 years before episode 4. Near nothing relates to the original movies.
Josue Hernandez over 3000 years before episode 4. Near nothing relates to the original movies.
"old republic"
Plz do a vid about the Mandalorian Wars!!!
Holy crap where are those clips from?!?!?
swtor trailers
I wander what would happen if the Jedi had been successful in defending the temple?
what's the name of that game
i would like to know for once how all these designs are so similiar, talking ships & republic trooper armor - compared to clone / storm / first order troopers & ships (star destroyers, ties etc.)
seems weird to me, what is the technological upgrade? what makes the kamino cloners design clone troopers similiar to republic troopers BUT thousands of years later - same for ships & did the tech even evolve? armor, weapons, ships, shields etc.
edit: * xwings, smuggler ships, walkers - are we talking about enterprisers / industry that old?
In the star wars universe progress grows and wanes with the eons.
It's an incredibly large galaxy.
Wars kill off unimaginably large numbers of people in this universe and technological advancement isn't as much of a focus as other areas of life.
I really wish SWTOR returned to Galactic Republic vs Sith Empire... That's the best part of the era and the game. 3rd party factions for expansions are getting pretty old.
how did the republic regain all those planets?
can you please do what happened next
can you do a what if the shuttle full of sith accidentally hit malgus
