I love this one, no Radiohead or Thom's solo project's shadow. Thom's passive-aggressive tone at the beginning, followed by that sweet break prior to release his voice at the bridge and outro. I'm in love, I gotta say ❤
4:37 reminds me of body snatchers when it goes into the break and followed by the lyrics shortly after that go "Has the light gone out for you? Because the light's gone out for me" man these guys continue top deliver gems
An instant classic. What a band, what an album. Their debut and this one made me compose music again, after a nearly 10 year pause. It's insane how complex, hauntingly beautiful they have become. They are constantly reinventing themselves, always finding something new, fresh, daring. Thank you gentlemen, for everything you've done.
This is some hypnotic psychedelic 60's inspired taking in this weird dystopian World.😮 Loved the live version , hearing echoes from Burn the Witch & other greats, miraculous musicianship with Thoms soaring voice giving us a blast of the absurdity of Life experience .❤

This song is so fascinating! It gives me strong 90s & early radiohead vibes but then flashes some modern tones in a way that it feels like travelling back and forth through time. Such a mind-blowing song!
This track is my favorite of the album. First time I heard this I couldn’t decide if I wanted to burst with joy or sit in utter silence and be overwhelmed. Fucking amazing fellas!! Great album . Always putting out quality material. Keep on creating ✌️
This is beautiful this is everything I ever wanted Tom York and Johnny greenwood have done it again they have mastered the masterpiece of Music in the form musicians for the form of musicians💯⚡😊
If this song doesn’t become one of their most known tracks, I’ll eat my hat. I hope this doesn’t turn out like Bangers and Mash, where it slaps yet is criminally underrated. Anyways, I love this so much. Clearly the best, hardest hitting track from this album. The softer valleys between the crushing peaks (example: 1:41) before it picks back up (2:11) are just so good. And Thom’s voice….unraveling like he had done for decades. Seriously, one of the top 10 tracks I’ve heard ever, and this is just on first listen. Also, much appreciation on 3:15 for solidifying my point on the possibility of this turning out like Bangers and Mash! Sounds a bit like it lol.
That dreamy krautrock section from 3:12 to finish also reminds me quite a bit of the King Gizzard album Laminated Denim, because it sounds kind of like the album's first track. I recommend you give that record a try, if you're looking for something that sounds similar.
the OG's of prog are still alive (well most of them) so every influence this song as taken as already an history and expertise to it that other have explored
The ending to this song reminds me of Pablo Honey/The Bends era Radiohead. It’s nice that they might be revisiting their roots and finding inspiration in them. I love it!!!
Brilliant track from a brilliant album!! In my humble opinion, 'Bending Hectic' is their MASTERPIECE!! But I can honestly say that every song that Thom Yorke sings is nothing short of Amazing 🎉
It's awesome to hear Jonny can still write amazing art/prog rock songs like this and Bending Hectic after he's spent so much time with electronics and orchestras (of which his work has been equally impressive).
Every song of Wall of Eyes theres someone that say something like "This is the best track of the album"... Every Song it's beautiful for a difrent kind of person. But the hole album its magnificent.
Agreed! But do you know anything about the artwork in all these Wall of Eyes videos (except title track and Friend of a Friend)? Did one of them, or a close friend, do it? Is it all CGI? Am i weird to see what i am seeing in these moving Rorschach blots? I couldn't find anything about them in a (probably lazy) search.
@@lauracooskey9481 you find it in the description of all the video's :) Artwork by Stanley Donwood (longtime partner in crime, made almost all the album covers/artwork of Radiohead and now The Smile) Animation by Sabrina Nichols

I thought Thom promised this wouldn't be Prog. I'm pretty sure this is Prog - and it is fantastic. Incidentally... Radiohead and King Gizzard are two of my very favorite bands. This song sounds very much like a Radiohead/King Gizz mashup to me.
The first Smile album was like In Rainbows or A Moon Shaped Pool. It grabbed you from the start and never let go. This album is more subtle. My first two times thru I was unimpressed, because I was expecting to be blown away like the first album. If it was not Jonny and Thom I might not have listened the third time. But by the fourth time, it was like listening to Bach when every time you listen you hear something new. I am now on maybe my 10th time through. :)
This album is The Smile finding their sound. Everything is so complex and fresh with each song surprising you with changes in pace or melody. A much better album than the first and so glad Tom remembered that he is actually a man and didn't just sing falsetto.
I hear more Revolver Beatles, yet I seem to be the only person I have encountered to think so yet. Put this against Im Only Sleeping or She Said She Said and it’s just a modern take
3:12-5:15 Nobody seems to have pointed this out, but I'm convinced either Thom or Jonny might had been listening to King Gizzard for a while and was inspired enough to write that entire section😤👌
"This goes where it wants to be" is repeated two times... maybe it's just me making up things, but: - at 1:46 the word "be" is sang offbeat with the background guitar - but at 2:46 the word "be" is following the timing of the guitar, indeed being where it wants to be
Thom and Jonny are the only artists I've fallen more deeply in love with as they, have evolved. And what are the chances that those two meet each other.
Imagine being at this stage of your career and putting out face-melting, spine tingling, intense psychedelic music like this?!?! Amazing!
Artists gotta art, man...f'ing brilliant
3:12 Fun Fact: This part here was originally it's own song called "Flanger" that was just incorporated into Read the Room as a second act.
fun fact the part at 2:12 makes the entire song and honestly as much as I love this song if that part wasnt there this song would be mediocre
@@89. Very bowieesque
@milolawrence642 that intro reminds me of so many classic rock bands. I can't put my finger on what song exactly that guitar rift reminds me of tho.
Awesome!
For me, it's a best track on "Wall of Eyes" from beginning till the end. Under Pillows and Wall of Eys also really good tracks.

thom plays the bass on almost every song this album - so sick!

Alot of this seems early Eno, but just so glad they never had to ask him to produce; they have IT in spades!
