- 3D printed and working Simpsons TV by u/buba447. Plays the first 11 seasons at random without internet. Knobs work too!
For anyone curious about the tech side:
Inside is a raspberry pi zero with a 32gb and card. The pi is connected to a 640x480 tft display.
The Pi is running Jessie Lite. The episodes were all compressed specifically for the screen and loaded onto the SD card. When the pi is powered up, through the USB port on the back of the tv, it starts playing episodes at random. When on episode ends the next is randomly selected. The top button is wired up to GPIO and turns the screen on and off while also muting the volume. The bottom is a POT that is connected to the speaker inside.

genius on so many levels!
Congrats. I just tried my hand at making one and I crashed and burned so to speak. I had it up and running but tried to make a pi shutdown button, because if I gave it as a gift, there is no way the giftee would be able to cleanly shut down the pi. Unfortunately, some stray wire strands crossed pins when I was putting in a switch and now the screen just has colored horizontal lines. Guess it's junk now.

HAHAHAH THE FACE AT THE END. Loved it. I will definitely try to make one my self. Would love to ask you a thing or two about the electronic part. Have you tried only sound on miniobjects? I'm looking which is the best mini sound board
Love your video man! Good job. I have one problem. Where is defining of GPIO pin 26 (screen switch), because in my case, when the button is on, screen is on and sound is off, but when the button is off, screen is off but the sound is on. I dont understand why?
Do you find the sound adequate? Mine sounded very weak...like I wouldn't be able to hear it if there was any ambient noise in the room...even with the amp and pot turned all the way up. I wonder if you could do 2 amps or something.

Can you put your own videos on this? I would so buy one. They have the tiny TVs that play clips from TV shows but there is no easy way to put your own content on it. This thing you just load up a microSD card with shows and videos and throw it in and you have a tiny entertainment machine.
