  • A bomb at TVC on 4th March 2001 caused UK viewers to see BBC World presentation for only the second time. This video has coverage from the 3am and 6am bulletins, including an interview with the News Editor Laurie Margolis, who along with the cameraman captured footage of the bomb going off. Includes some Sky News coverage. The random aspect ratios were as broadcast!

    BBC News 24 having two breakfillers is the strangest thing that has happened in BBC's history.

    Scary to think that this happened the same year 9/11 happened.

    I'm a bit curious about the aspect ratio when BBC News 24 joined World Presentation. Did the News 24 channel automatically adjust the 16:9 ratio of News 24 to 4:3 (on the presentation side), or the recorder/you adjusted the aspect ratio manually to 4:3?

      @@sambaker2387 A controlled explosion means that you detonate it when you want and on your terms, if there's no safe method to remove it from situ then it's done where it's found. The IRA loved a booby-trap, basically any attempt to move the vehicle would've been too dangerous (remember the railway and houses run pretty close to TVC, so it's more preferable to detonate it near an empty building than near the Wood Lane estate, or the tube.

    I feel awful for the people there... But did anyone else notice that Teletubbies was supposed to be on at the start of the video? EDIT: I was trying to point out how early in the morning this happened. I should have been more clear.

    • @toranine09
      @toranine09 Год назад +2

      the start of the video shows footage from just before 3am, the blue info bar that appears when the user switches channels shows the current programme and the programme expected to follow - Teletubbies at 7am. the news simulcasts would go from early morning up to 7am at which point the channel's standard programming would begin

      Yes it did. I don't think the RIRA gave a shit for the old bbc. It was well known that they were biased as hell and yes always talked a load of bollocks about the Irish. Warnings were given and well believe what you want. Rumour was it was detonated behind a fecking wall with a Nokia phone. Now 20 years later we are still stuck with the fecking bbc and they can kiss my whole hairy arse.

      A bomb by the IRA in the UK predicted 4 planes being flown at buildings 3000 miles away in America. Yup. How DID we miss that
