I thought Mr.Birchum was bad enough. This "Sitcom" however makes it look decent in comparison. This, along with Velma and Santa Inc, are examples of how not to do politics in entertainment.
Speaking as someone who watches All in the Family, I would say that show is way better than The New Norm, but I'll also go into what made it stand the test of time. The show did not have a clear political bias. It sought to show just how insane conservatives and liberals can be, it was more honest with its language that was heavily associated with discrimination and the social climate of the period. Archie served as the figurehead for the insane right and Mike "Meathead" Stivic served as the figurehead for the preachy and holier than thou left (while ironically as bigoted as Archie in several ways) But the show wasn't solely about politics, because at the end of the day, Archie, Meathead, they were still people, people that were not the sum of their political views, people you can care about. Even as people are becoming more on the fence about what flies in entertainment these days, this show managed to hold up because it was a brilliant series that, at its core, played no favorites. As for The New Norm, it's clear they didn't see All in the Family for its characters, rather its edgy jokes, lending to their utter desperation at sticking it to the other side. It's less like a comedy and more like a collection of archetypes and jokes that can be considered offensive, dare I say generated by AI like the theme song and other stuff. It's not a comedy, it's a borderline checklist. If I had to give it some benefit of the doubt the pilot was meant to demonstrate just what the rest of the show would try to do, but as is I have a feeling the rest of the show would be soulless. It has the same vibe as Our Cartoon President, which was made to cash in on the ongoing political climate and done in a way to be on time with it. The New Norm is so bad, it actually gave me something nice to say about Mr. Birchum, which in spite of its clear conservative slant, I at least know where I stand with it, I can see conservatives possibly enjoy the show, even those who have the stomach for dumb animated sitcoms, and Mr. Birchum, as bad as it is, it feels like it at least has a soul. It feels like something made in earnest to appeal to a certain crowd. The New Norm has no soul, no genuine passion, it's a product made to capitalize on outrage and it can't even do that right.
I think what makes conservative comedy so PAINFULLY unfunny is the classic atage "funny because it's true." When your would view is so inherently flawed and detached from reality, there's no sense of satire or reliability that can make it funny. Not even to themselves.
Between "Norm of the North" and "The New Norm", I am beginning to think a certain word has had a spell cast on it, so that any animation bearing it in the title is ruined.
The thing is with Archie bunker and all in the family is that he kind of went through a character or throughout the show of admitting he was wrong for being a racist and bigot he even he had a black best friend name mr. Jefferson and neither of them would ever admit that they were friends and he was always called out for it by his son-in-law for his behavior
@ my only experience with watching all in the family comes from seeing reruns on it on television as a teenager as I was into all kinds of classic media including classic television shows well all in the family isn’t my favorite show from the 70s that would be Sanford and son from what little I have seen it Archie bunker was Mosley a racist because he was stuck in the past and his son-in-law was more progressive than he was or at least progressive at the time hell, the first episode, which I have seen has a whole talk about racism with his son saying that every man despite their race deserves a piece of the American dream

The tattoos he has and starting in a bar lines him up with the brothers at the beginning of the movie, and he may have been personalizing/dramatizing his mindset.
