As an ecologist this really made me chuckle, Great Crested newts (not axolotl but close enough) are meant to be these ecosystem indicators that only live in clean water but you always find the buggers in old water tanks and stuff where they really shouldn’t be, and this build just reminds of that

Habitat; Grey Seal (for the fishing village), Gharial, Fallow Deer, Eurasian Lynx, Red Crowned Crane, Black-Tailed Prairie Dog, Grizzly Bear, and Arctic Fox
Exhibit - American Bullfrog, Danube Crested Newt, Lesser Antillean Iguana, Western Diamondback Rattlesnake, Diamondback Terrapin, and Mexican Redknee Tarantula,

There should be a mod (unless there already is) that removes the glass from the exhibits, so you could integrate them into enclosures and the wilderness around your zoos.

This build was very inspiring and interesting! If you want an idea for another animal to add, I think that the Cougar from the North America pack would really fit well in this area. You could maybe do a big cliffside, a waterfall, and a cave, all within a larger forested area.

I love when you're proud of yourself ❤️ And you have every right to be with this project! Looking forward to the fishing village, really.
So, if you waaaant to go with a tiny bit more realism with the themed axolotl exhibit you could add some decals, making it look like the water is circulating there and it's just a faux leaking effect.
Zoo Rostock has things like that, where kids can play with some functions to see how a dam works, how a ship is brought to water, yadda yadda. Actually water plays with circulating water effects would be perfect for this zoo.

  • @foramtastic

Wow this whole park is looking so good! The layers and the rocks and the trees and things... There are just so many beautiful and interesting things to look at!
I don't know about the Pacific northwest, but in New England, lean-tos are pretty common in camp-grounds. And warming huts, to stop hikers and skiiers from dying of hypothermia. Mostly there tend to be things like occasional outhouses, maybe an information stand at a trailhead, parking lots (or places where you just pull off to the side of the road), etc.
Derelict building ideas: an old logging mill, a dam and fish ladder that have been taken down (essentially this was a more industrial area that in recent decades has been allowed to return to a natural state)
I like what you did with the Axolotl and the water tower! And I also find it hilarious that you managed to work in something dramatic like an infection.
(Also: when it comes to things like plant "palettes", I tend to create custom tags rather than hearting the foliage. If you make a custom tag, such as "Elderwood", and add that tag to all the plants you want, then you can pull up all the plants with that tag whenever you want. Especially useful if you're working on multiple builds with different collections of plants.)

The water tower exhibit looks so much better than I ever thought it could! Great job 😊
I got some ideas that might work for the oryx. Maybe near the docks you could make a crashed boat with broken crates, like the oryxes were being transported to a nearby zoo or something but they got into trouble along the way. The boat capsized in a storm, knocking the crates the animals were in overboard. Luckily the tide brought them to the shore and the crates were just damaged enough for the oryxes to get out safely. This would explain how they came to live in the area, maybe to local villagers build an enclosure of some kind for them or they could just be hanging out around the town living their lives. Alternatively they could have come through a crashed truck or plane (but you already did a plane once for the Australia zoo).
Other ideas that make for less of a story but the vibes is to incorporate a sawmill and/or a hunting cabin into the enclosure.

  • @brannwen
    @brannwen 2 года назад

I do like the radio tower idea, especially since it would be needed by park rangers -- I think you've said before that you don't particularly enjoy trying to make "mountains" in this game, but a radio tower sitting on top of one, with hiking paths leading up to it would look really cool! It would be nice for a "set piece" habitat that you can see from afar, out past the little valley and village you have planned, but that would mean shucking the idea of building up in "block" areas and moving the oryx build a bit further back.
(I also agree with VentureWorld that it would be cool to add more animals that would be more "native" to a redwood forest, like black/grizzly bears, wolves, etc. but that can be kept until after you've done all the animals from the conservation pack, since I know you'd much prefer to focus on them! (Nexus Mods specifically has a white-tailed deer and roosevelt/rocky mountain elk that I think would look absolutely stellar in this build, since they'd be native to the forest.))
I've been loving this zoo so far, it looks gorgeous! I still hold on to my previous comment of it looking cozy to wander through -- I'm a bit too far north to truly appreciate redwoods, but as a local pacific northwesterner, any type of large, sprawling forest tends to feel like home lol
(As an off-shoot comment, because it came to mind and I know you like your mystery/unexplained stuff, have you heard/looked into the Missing 411? I think widespread unexplained national park-focused disappearances would be right up your alley.)

Hey! Its me! And I have a idea, maybe (since the scimitar- horned oryx is extinct in the wild) you could make a fake story where when the government of Chad realized that this oryx was going extinct they asked other governments if they could help, and whichever government that Elderwood is based in (probably western USA?) agreed to help and so they made space in Elderwood National Park, since it was already kind of a zoo, for the scimitar- horned oryx and since then Elderwood has played a crucial role in the conservation of the oryx. Okay rant over, bye bye now.

I think (maybe) the water surrounding the island could flow into a river a little later on and turn it into a beaver habitat or another small semi-aquatic mammal, then the river can flow into a waterfall or something and that can be home to something large like a moose or grizzly bear? I don't know but I think this could be a pretty cool concept for later.
Also maybe a bridge going over the river as added viewing? (that is if you add the river concept)
