This is SO GOOD! Generally I'm a silent viewer, but just had to say how much I love your builds, this park, and just your channel in general. You're such an inspiration and I'm seriously blown away by everything you build in Planet Zoo. You're insanely talented! Thanks for always uploading and making my day better with your commentary and skill. I always look forward to it.
Part of the story is something that happens sometimes where a private owner had Oryx and somehow they broke free or got out and thrived in this little area adapting to it and now people returning want to protect and manage the herd so turned it into a little preserve.
LOVE the wee Alan Wake poster homages! An easy explanation for "arid" conditions in otherwise temperate areas would be a high presence of toxic elements in the soil - heavy metals, acid/alkaline, that sort of thing. It could be natural (funguses, certain insects, thatch) or man-made (electronics/ammunition dump, rust, invasive species)
The town could be named Elderwood, too. Or you could go with something that sounds vaguely mining-related, since that's what it was originally. Blackridge, Coal Hill, Copper Creek, etc. Or name the town after the family that owned the mine; Rudiger, founded by John Rudiger. John settled in the area due to reports of coal, but quantities were greatly exaggerated. Soon after the mines went belly-up, the town dried up, too. John left in the early 90s to pursue his true passion: dinosaurs.
Thank you for including how long it took to make, and the encouragement, it's much appreciated! Funky S aside, the neon sign looks nice! And the whole exhibit looks amazing~ We finished a whole DLC!
Bestinslot I used to watch your content around seven years ago and I was so entertained by it that I never noticed how hidden you stayed you deserve more attention now that I have discovered your channel and so do the other RUclipsrs I used to watch as a kid like draegast gaming beaver mattshea which have all actually have add mutual connection with each other including you back in the golden era of RUclips I really want it to come back and all the nostalgic RUclipsrs who used to be pretty big would come back it is just sad to see how much RUclips has changed since then!😭
If you're looking for inspiration for your town...look into Centralia, Pennsylvania. The town was forced to evacuate due to an underground mine fire that has been nonstop since 1964!!!! The population of the town is 5. Yes, 5. The postal service no longer goes to the town. The broken roads are covered in graffiti. There's toxic gas and smoke coming out of the ground here and there throughout the town. It just screams your vibe!
Oooh, I need to finish my playthrough of Alan Wake.... Always funny to hear you talk about building a chill zoo exhibit. "So...there are no cults, or cryptids, and not much of a story here... It's okay.....I guess......." But seriously, the amount of patience and attention to detail in this whole park... It's all amazing. And I really can see just how much you've grown as a builder since PZ first came out.
In northern canada there's a place called carcroos desert and its a sand desert sorrounded by a spruce forest and it's all apparently caused by the mountains sorrounding it. So a desert in the middle of an alpine forest is not quite as outlandish as one might think
Maybe I should have said this before you actually built the exhibit, but the moment you said "Oryx Station" I thought "Hey, a decommisioned train station would be cool!" An idea for the next build maybe?
I’m making the most of my time playing planet zoo as it’s my favorite game and I’m going on holidays tomorrow and I have work and school is starting up again later this month.
You mentioned how the S on station looked like a 5... What if you played it off as like the 5 was a part of the station's like.. station number? Like how some stations make a whole thing out of their number? And have their slogan underneath? Something along the lines of "105.5 - Your 9 to 5 nonstop station for tunes" or "105.5 and Thrive" .. Idk I am NOT a slogan person ahaha
Hey @BestInSlot, would it be possible at some point for you to do a beginners guide to Planet Zoo? It's such a cool game, but also so hard to navigate 😭
Have you thought about doing an abandoned quarry / mine (considering it's an abandoned mining town) Sorry if I've missed you answering this already. Love ya vids! ❤️
Comment for the algorythm, as I am watching this again 1 year later to get inspiration for my Oryx habitat. Not that it makes any sense, as I build a zoo and you... not, but I still appreciate the inspiration for the greeting card I did after this video back then. 🦥

You did THIS in 6 hours?! Sheesh, you are extremly fast in my book. And I'm in love with the radio station!
And thanks for the pep talk for us ❤️
One of the best desert-esque builds I've ever seen for sure!
Been waiting for this one! I just got home from work as soon as you posted this so it must be fate!
So proud that you finished the pack. You actually are a big inspiration for my Zoo's
Love this zoo the whole thing gives me a bit of ‘the quarry’ game vibes
One of the best yet. Looks great!
Finally, at last, amazingly, shockingly, Bestinslot has finished a a DLC!!!
You could always have the s dark like it burned out? I still think the idea of them escaping from an exotic ranch would be a good idea for them.
Thanks for doing this I know I can speak for everyone when I say this is so far pretty amazing

Excellent stuff. Longtime viewer, thanks to my son getting me hooked, very rare commenter. Well done you 👏
Finishing a dlc? This can't be the real BestInSlot, I think Ruediger is the one who's possessed you
I love this! Really hope you continue it!
I can't believe it
We must praise bigfoot for making this happen

u should build for cougars in that "in the air" area! fits in the park and they can be desert animals
Love hearing the way your brain works
beautiful
I think bears would look pretty cool in the area under the tower
Love the habitat
