    Feeling your pain Darrell, thanks for helping me understand it's not just me. For now, I'm pretty satisfied with a OneNote notebook in a channel tab working the way I like. The notebook ended up in a Shared Documents folder in the Files area of the Channel. The Loop component appears visible in the tab view of the notebook (not off in the corner as with Whiteboard). Everyone in the Team seems to have editing rights. Huzzah! I still had to copy the .loop file into the Channel Files area (it started, as usual, in my OneDrive). I needed to use the "Copy as Loop component" option after opening that channel-resident file, rather than going anywhere near the "Share" option in that component. Someone reply to this post if you find any other drawbacks with this approach. Even if it is a workaround until MS fully supports Loop in a Tab, OneNote isn't a *bad* canvas for Loop, in that you can surround the component with supporting content, like instructions for updating the component. I'm very cranky that Microsoft is taking *away* support for the "Website" tab in Teams (forcing you to open in a browser instead), since that would be one answer to our dilemma, just let us put a Loop Workspace page in a website tab. I understand if they are tired of trying to support full browser functionality in a tab, but ...

    interesting insight in the different approaches to solve this "challenge" - thank for sharing.

    ➕ I want the Loop components experience to be more embedded and more organic and natural in the flow of work in Teams. I love the way that you experimented and learned out loud in this session, because this is precisely how we learn the aspects of these features. I also want to add a Loop Component to a Tab for easier discovery. We love the potential, but the don't love the patch work.🏄‍♂

    I've recently figured out that, besides I kinda have a way to create Loop Components with my Microsoft enterprise account, my company is very strict to release all possibilities that Loop could make in my everyday work! It's such a shame! I would love to test everything you show in your videos, Darrell. Not only the contents are extremely helpful, but also you show everything as you were our teammate, explaining every topic in a very easy way. I guess my work life would be pretty much better if I could use all resources Loop have. Thanks for this video, anyway!

    I always press the + button on the top in the Teams channel and select Web icon and link the loop shared link there. And you can rename it whatever you want (shorter name helps). Then you can easily have whatever chat sessions with your team and everyone can click on the tab with the loop web component and you are done.

      I have started doing this too. Earlier when I I tried this method, the website tab showed errors. But it appears to work consistently now.

      @@DarrellaaS it depends on which browser you use and what is setup as your default browser. Loop is a browser based application so if you can open it in your preferred browser then you set it up in Teams tab to open it as well.

    that's why I found you your video. I'm having same needs and found same limitations. Another issue is that Loop pages are also stored on your one drive, not on Sharepoint

    I believe you can add the link to a loop workspace asa website to the top of your teams channel

    • @DarrellaaS
      @DarrellaaS  9 месяцев назад +2

      You're right. That seems to work better than most uses of the website tab. I generally steer away from using the Website tab for anything that needs authentication. But for Loop, it appears to work well.
      It feels cramped with the pages list open.
      I know the Loop and Teams product groups have big plans next year in this space.

    My thinking is that a Loop Component needs to be added to a 'file'/location in another app. What youre looking for sounds more like you want a Loop app (file) tab where you get the Loop canvas rather than being able to just add a single Loop component to a tab in Teams. Once MS sort out their vision for the full Loop app (perhaps once they figure out how or if it will integrate with or evolve OneNote, then this will be easier)?

    Thank you for this video!! I have been increasingly frustrated with the lack of integration between Teams and Loop. Great idea with your Whiteboard work around… I couldn’t get the Website embed to work as some other users recommended in the comments. I think it may be restricted by my administrator due to concerns with access rights idk. Anyways, thank you- you validated my frustration 😅

    Every loop component has a URL. Just use that. You don’t need Word or Whiteboard as a ‘container’.

      You're right Paul. I haven't tried this for a while because I don't have much faith in the Website tab and authentication to the target sites. But it seems to work fine for Loop pages. The only thing I don't like about it is that the space is cramped.

    I am using loop as tabs in chats or channels since I got access to loop on the preview by just adding the link as website.

    • @DarrellaaS

      I'm not a fan of using the Website tab link. It's not reliable with authentication into Loop.

      It has a been a while since I last tried this work around. I did so this afternoon. It is working better than I thought. I shared a page link in a workspace and use it for the Website tab. The Workspace is shared with all members of the team. Other members were able to open the Website tab with no issues. It's little cramped in the UX. But we can expand the tab and collapse the workspace page list.
      Not bad. Thanks for suggesting this work-around @jorge.

    White board has one PITA issue. Outside orgs anbd guest cannot see /access it without certain settings changed by the teams admins. I Think loop components also fall into this category. Idk about you, but I work with customers all the time.

    • @DarrellaaS
      @DarrellaaS  8 месяцев назад

      I hear you. Whiteboard has been quiet about its plans for guest access for years. Loop will support guest access this year. It supports guests in Teams hosted in your org today, by adding a Loop component to a channel conversation. But there’s more coming to Loop / Teams integration too.

    @DarrellaaS You can add the loop link as a webpage tab

      Not for much longer. Website tabs are being downgraded to a simple shortcut and will no longer embed a webpage.

    Microsoft needs to enabled adding Loop PAGES to channels as a core feature AND adding a Loop CANVAS as an app on the task bar to the left. It's a huge limitation in how useful loop should be. They have been cooking loop for 2 years and it's still a mess. For me, I would rather use Microsoft OneNote for all the same essential features of Loop within Teams.

    • @DarrellaaS
      @DarrellaaS  9 месяцев назад

      Much of the Teamsters channel integration we have wanted for 2 years relies on New Teams. Now that Teams is rolling out the new version, we will start to see things move in 2024z

      Thank you for sharing your opinion. New software is never released perfect. Loop is no different. As early adopters, we all want a better way to bring Loop components into tabs in Teams. I am certain there is something in development, given it's one of the top requests.

    6:08 this is where Microsoft is sort of a hot mess. Too much overlapping functionality all over the place
