My fashion tips for my 20-year-old self would be
-There's more to pants than jeans!
-Try tucking in tops (Finally learnt this by copying a cute mannequin outfit when I was 24!)
    -Shop for outfits, not items
-Your body is great - wear crop tops already!
-And stop buying so much clothing! Sleep on every purchase

Bethany - you're like my style big sister that always offers pearls of wisdom! As someone who turned 20 a year before the pandemic began, and now spending my early 20s in the midst of the pandemic, everything seemed to turn on it's head.. Learning about style and discovering my own personal style with your help has really helped root me in something I enjoy and find breathing space in! ❤️
Even though I'm only 22, I think one thing I would tell my younger self 20 years ago is to take time with the process and to enjoy it - not too jump in too quickly to style trends or just mindlessly listening to other style influencers and buying into what -they say- I MUST have! And being thoughtful about my purchases, to not let style envy of -someone else's middle of their journey-, cloud my judgment of what my beginning should be like! To that end, I'm so thankful to have discovered your channel a year and a half ago - your content is always so refreshing and heartfelt, definitely one of my favourite channels (one of the rare channels I leave comments on!). I'm so looking forward to the Masterclass! It's going to be my breath of fresh air in a busy month up ahead ☺️

I'm 23 and I've been learning english since I was 16. When you mentioned the quote about not comparing your beginning with someone else's middle I instantly thought about the languague journey. Because when you are a beginner or even when you are an intermediate learner we tend to compare ourselves with people who has a higher level in certain language.
But the truth is that we don't know anything about their journeys. And we see pretty much just the tip of the iceberg. I'm sure that behind that perfect English there is a lot a hard work and discipline. And I think the same is true for style and fashion.
We should focus more on our own journey.
    Thanks Bethany :)

I am 20 years old and just found this video, in a time where I am figuring out my personal style. I would like to thank you Bethany and everyone that has posted helpful advice on this video!!! 🥺💗✨Ever since I was 14 my style has always being gravitating more towards elegant and vintage chic, mixed with casual lol if that makes sense .😅Especially in this day and age with social media I felt a lot of pressure that I do not dress and genuinely like most mainstream trends on myself as it does not represent me or make me comfortable ( I think those trends look great on others and style is something entirely personal) but this video helped me understand even more that it is okay to have my own unique style.
Every person should dress in clothes that are comfortable, make them feel like themselves and most of all HAPPY! Thank you, Dearly Bethany💌

Thank you for your helpful knowlegde. I do realise that when I wear casual clothes, people treat me like I am a child because I am 5 foot 1 and I am Asian so I am quite small. So I try to wear clothes which are more distinct, and I can tell you that I saw people treat me differently, I hate the way they treat me because of my clothes, but sadly I cannot change that. I cannot agree with you more about the society respects well-dressed person, my mind just blows when you mention this because it is so true

I guess something to take in consideration as well is the fact that when we’re younger and developing our style, we might take other people’s opinions, seeking for that external validation, when in reality it should start within ourselves, it’s a hard process and the majority of time it comes with age. Experimenting with clothing shouldn’t feel “weird”, it should just be a process of getting to know yourself :)

Also, I wish I wore more cute skirts to university!

I LOVED this video, i feel like I’m still on my journey and I’m in my mid twenties but the advice I’d give to my 20 year old self would be don’t be afraid to step out your comfort zone and experiment, try new places and go for more staple pieces. Being 4ft 10, it’s always been difficult but there are a lot more brands out there to suit being shorter than there were when I was 20, which is amazing!! 💓

I am 20 and Im glad I found your channel. I feel plain and boring in my fashion sense. I keep repeating the same style. I'm kinda sad that I can't explore something new. Suddenly, I saw this. Thank you for existing. 💖

Honestly Bethany, my style journey began 3 years ago when I found your channel. I was 23 at the time and had no real connection with my wardrobe. For a year or so, I pretty much copied your outfits but over the course of the last two years, I have truly developed my own sense of style and now I feel more confident in my clothes than I had ever felt. And of course, it's always nice when my friends ask me for fashion advice because I'm such a "fashionista" haha. I rarely leave comments on videos and I know you probably won't see this, but THANK YOU!

I just turned 30 this September. I would probably tell my twenty year old self what I’m saying now: have more confidence with what you wear , care less about what others think and try out the styles (wearing lipstick) and looks that scare you. Haha. I have always been a casual “tomboy” dresser that’s how I feel most comfortable but right now I’m finding ways to stay true to that side while aging up and maturing my look. Great video and amazing advice for any age ❤️

The thumbnail is so on point lmao. The left style was pretty much exactly how I dressed between the ages of 14 and 21. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but I wish I would have started to step out of my comfort zone earlier on in my life. I missed out on so many cute outfits for the sake of familiarity.

I heard a quote in my early 20’s that has always stayed with me: “Dress for the job you want, not for the job you have.” It was said in the context of dressing like you’re in management even if you’re in an entry-level position. I took that advice to heart, and really do believe it helped me to be taken seriously and to consistently advance in my workplace. Now in my mid-30’s, I share this advice with every young woman I mentor.

Being a 21 year old myself, this video was really helpful, thank you! The two tips I really loved were don’t be afraid to elevate your outfits and you don’t have to fit in, standing out is actually more preferred. Also thanks so much for all the quotes you shared 😊 So true about how what you’re wearing affects how you feel and think.

I would tell myself to get rid of weird clothes that don’t fit! I grew up thinking it was wasteful to declutter and that I should just make things work (and not even for budgetary reasons lol), but really I just had a ton of strange stuff that didn’t work for my body. Learning discernment with what to keep/toss was life changing in my late 20s.

I opened myself to exploring (and trying out) new fashion aesthetics, elements, and styles that I haven't tried before. I have seen items that I had thought I would never wear, but when I tried them on, I would grow into them. I think this opens so many doors that help you richen your unique sense of style and change your perspective in how you see fashion.

Tip on a steamer, if you can’t afford to get one, turn on the shower and make the water really hot. Then stick your piece in the bathroom and close the door. In a few minutes it should be good

Great advice! I would tell my 20 year old self that just because something looks good on you doesn’t mean you have to buy it. I ended up with wayyy too many clothes in my early 20’s that looked good on me but were uncomfortable and/or not cohesive with the rest of my clothes.

All throughout high school, the teachers kept demanding us to tuck in our shirts. I never liked my shirt tucked in as I was overweight and self-conscious of my belly. I went to a bad school where kids would bully others for the littlest things (one classmate sniggered at the safety pin that held my trouser zip together), so I kept my school blazer buttoned up. Only now, at the age of 34, I've started to tuck my top in, and I never felt so confident in my body. I completed my weight loss journey years ago, but this little clothing adjustment made me realise how far I had come.

I'm 20 now and the main thing that has caused change in my wardrobe is poshmark and thrifting. It makes such a huge difference because it's cheaper and I don't have to buy the crazy trendy pieces that fill the stores. Really let me widen my horizons.

You have helped me so much to find my style.
Here are some tips I would give my 20 year self
    1. Less is more
    2. Buy 1 piece that is high quality insteadof buying 10 low quality pieces.
    3. Buy clothes that you feel comfortable in
    4. Neutrals are the best thing you will invest in.

Entering my 30's I finally stopped caring about dressing differently than the general public in my area. I've always been a confident person, but looking different than everyone else is scary! Now that I've embraced looking different my personal style has completely bloomed and I've never been happier! Plus my wardrobe has significantly shrunk because when you know what you love there really isn't any room for sub-par.

It’s so true in high school I loved clothes and dressing up and wearing beautiful clothes but in college everyone were wearing sweatpants and sweatshirts to class and I felt like I was too overdressed so I ended up dressing more casual. And honestly I felt bummy all the time and a disinterest in clothes actually. I’m now so excited to get back to exploring my style and just wearing whatever I want to feel good

One piece of advice I’d give my younger self is to never go with what everyone else is wearing. Although my sense of fashion hasn’t always been what one could even call fashion, the only things I really truly regret are the times that I tried to fit in with how everyone else looked. Don’t follow trends, wear what you want and discover things for yourself!
