Wondering what to expect on the TSIA2 Math Test??
In this video, I explain exactly what you can expect to see on the test!
You'll see a first set of 20 questions that give you the opportunity to pass the test right off the bat...
And if you don't pass the first set of 20 questions, you'll be directed to a "diagnostic section" that will pinpoint the areas you need to work on the most...
But if you don't pass the first set of 20 questions, don't give up!! You still have an opportunity to get a passing score if you do well enough on the diagnostic section, so give it your best shot!!
I also show you questions from the most recently released TSIA2 Math Practice test, to give you an idea of the questions you are likeliest to see in the first set of 20...

Passed yesterday with a 965! Haven't been in school for 2 years which doesn't seem like a long time but the mental relief taking your course gave me, allowed me to understand all concepts and take the test confidently. @krishpandey10 that’s a great question!! They don’t publish an exact scoring scale, but if I had to guess I would estimate that around 14/20 right on the first set of 20 would be enough to get you a passing score…

All I have to say is THANK YOU! If you are struggling, if you need help, and you are skeptical buying the course, all I have to suggest is that you do it!! I had failed this test prior, as I have never really been the greatest at math, though as soon as I reached out to Mr Toohey after going through all of his videos, he was able to help! Hey did u get questions like find mode and range? And some factoring quadratics example like x2 - 3x + 12?

I start at TXST in the fall and I was pretty worried about the math section on the TSI. I know everyone says "I'm so bad at math" but I really am. It's so intimidating to me. I've also been out of HS for 2 years now so I'm extremely rusty. Although after watching you, I feel a little more hopeful. Haven't taken the TSI yet, but I will next weekend. Thanks for the help!

Passed last week with a 961! I tried taking it multiple times and couldn’t pass. I felt really defeated and didn’t have have the motivation to do it again. I decided to buy the full lesson and it REALLY helped. I can’t stress how important it is to write down the problems and practice them like you mentioned in your lectures. You can do it if you really put in the effort. Thank you so much Mr. Toohey! Also, the rules you mentioned helped enormously. A lot of the questions on the TSI can be solved with logic and basic estimation.

passed the math section with a 970 and got a 5 on the essay. have to give a huge thanks to you and your videos! without them i definitely wouldn't have passed

Just took the test at school, passed within the 1st 20 question got a 953, glad I avoided those 48 questions

I passed with a 954! first 20 questions I had about 4 days of binge watching the videos of the crash course. My past scores were 928 with low diagnostic , 935 with low diagnostic and now 954 no need for diagnostic definitely helped.

OR just take the English Comp and Math course out of state (online) as a non degree/visiting student and transfer the completed course to your local Texas college. Just make sure the out of state college is regionally accredited so the completed courses will transfer.
When it transfers, you'll be exempt from having to take the TSIA for English Comp and Math.

@@Skerriie I got a 941 after retrying twice after the course and decided to take developmental classes, I’m already taking my main classes, even though I still didn’t pass, his stuff works
I took the tsi and although I got a 942 with your course I did improve from my previous 936 but I’ll retest tomorrow and hopefully I get a 950 or above it’s kind of the last day to test for it
Best of luck on your retest! Work through the sections of the course you’re struggling with the most and give it your best shot tomorrow… You can do this!!

Yes! You get an on-screen calculator on almost all of the questions! : )
Are the TSI questions this year the same as last year or before?
Every test is different! But these are similar to the concepts and question types you can expect to see on the test you take…
I’m very frustrated as I’ve failed this test 3 times. I’m doing well in Algebra 2 as a high school student and I’m in the honors program at the college where I do dual credit but I’m really struggling with the format of the TSIA questions, I know for example how to solve binomials but trying to find which one is not equivalent is a really frustrating process.
I totally understand… success in math class doesn’t necessarily translate to success on this test… watch my videos, and me know if you have any questions!!
Take the course at a regionally accredited college out of state (online as a non degree seeking student) pass it then transfer it to your college and you will be exempt from taking the TSIA.
Just ask your counselor. You may also qualify for exemption under other conditions such as being a veteran, scoring high enough on SAT etc.
are these the questions that will be on the test?
Not the exact same questions (although you might see a repeat or two on your test)… but these questions are representative of the concepts and question types you can expect to see on your version of the test!

These are the same questions from last year. Will the questions be the same this year?
You won’t see any of those EXACT questions… each test varies from student to student… but you can expect to see similar questions/concepts tested on your upcoming test…
Quick question, I’ve watched every video on the math crash website and understood everything so I went online to look up some tsia2 math sample questions and they’re showing way more math than what the actual sample questions from the collage board made so now I’m scared to take the test. Are these sample questions sorta the same as the questions that are going to be in the tsia2?
Depends where those questions are coming from… If they’re not from the College Board (the makers of the actual test), then they’re probably not representative of what you’ll see on the test. All the questions that appear in my course are from the College Board, so they’re more representative of what I expect you to see on the test, especially Days 3-6 of the course. I hope that helps!

How many questions do you need to get right for level 6? All of them? 😢
It’s hard to say exactly (they don’t release the exact scoring scale), but to get a passing score 950 or above on the math, I estimate around 14/20 would be good enough on the first set of 20… you don’t have to be perfect on this test to pass it! Don’t worry!
Is the TSIA2 and Accuplacer have the same math?cI'm taking the TSIA2, but the last time I took it, it was on Accuplacer
Good question! The TSI is basically the Texas version of the Accuplacer… the tests are closely aligned (though there are some differences)… that could explain why you saw “Accuplacer” branding in the test you took…
Same company makes both tests (the College Board)

What does a "950" score represent? How many questions right is that?
That’s a good question… hard to say exactly, and it could vary from test to test (they keep a tight lid on the exact scoring system), but if I had to venture a guess that would be around 14/20 right on the first set of 20 questions… so you don’t have to be perfect on this test to achieve a passing score!
been watching all the ones i can for free. helpful so far. since money is tight i am going to keep searching for more free ones. the tsi. test scares me badly since i have failed before. ugh!! math has always been my downfall.

I just took the TSIA2 math test.
I’m here to tell everyone, that practice test he mentions in this video is absolute BS. The questions on the real test are NOTHING like on the practice test.
Mr Toohey is fantastic! Just be aware, that practice test is not an accurate example of the real one.

@@MichaelTooheyI took that same practice test you mentioned in this video several times and studied the material on it consistently. I actually used some of your videos to help study (which you did phenomenally by the way).
I don’t recall any questions on the real test that had much relevance to what was on the practice test. I can’t pinpoint question by question what was different, but the main thing I noticed was that the questions on the real test were worded unnecessarily difficult and confusing. The questions on the practice test were pretty straightforward in letting you know what you need to solve. This was not the case on the real test I finished yesterday. There were some questions that I simply had no clue what to do. When I finished the 20 questions it took me straight to the reading portion. I won’t know my scores until I finish the reading and essay portion. There were a few questions that I simply just didn’t know what to do because I never studied or have seen the material it was asking.
With that said, I assume I passed. After I finished the 20 questions, it sent me directly to the reading test. I won’t know my scores until I finish the reading and essay part, but I assume I did pass the math since it didn’t take me to a diagnostic test.
@jameswhite9300 Thank you for clarifying!! The full version of my course has a wider variety of questions and question types that don’t appear on this particular practice test… and some of them I’m my course are very much as you describe…
That being said, sounds like you passed! (You’d get the 48 question diagnostic section if you hadn’t)
