I stumbled upon Mr. Toohey’s videos two days before taking my TSI test, I was so close to passing the Math part. I bought his crash course and studied for two weeks before taking the math section again and finally passed it! I have been out of school for over 16 years and he made it so easy for me to understand Math! I am just so grateful I found his crash course! Thank you!
Congrats I am retaking mine this weekend or next weekend I am very nervous because I overthink everything. I made a 921 back in 2022 without reviewing math but this year I worked in some math classes reviewing some of the material but I am still very worried about this test. I have 6 classes left to take to graduate and this test is what is holding me back from continuing. Any Advice on how to prepare.
@@YoBoySteven Honestly, I felt so lost while reviewing other math videos so I highly recommend that you buy Mr. Tooheys math crash course. I promise you will understand everything so much better! It really helped me a lot!
Is there anything I can practice that will actually help me pass the math on the first try? I'm dumb as hell in math I've been out of school for almost 36 years, still confused after watching the videos.
@hunnit8860 Start with “Day 1” of my TSI Math Crash Course… you can definitely understand it, and I build up the level of difficulty as you work your way through the course. I made the course for students just like you!!
Omg I just found your video! I took the TSI pre assess to check and all the math freaked me out!!! This is fabulous! I plan to watch and study and take the test next week! Thank you !!!!!
I signed up for Mr. Toohey's TSI math course. It was super helpful. I never took the SAT for college so now that I am transferring to a different college, they needed a TSI math score for me. It's been a couple of years since I took a math class so I was rusty. I watched the videos and got a "college ready" score on my first try. Mr. Toohey is super clear and really shows you how to approach the questions and not freak out. Figuring out what the question is asking is always hard for me and I think Mr. Toohey does a great job of showing you how to think about the questions. Highly recommend his course. Do it, take the test and pass! So worth it!
Thank you, thank you ,Mr Toohey!! Took my TSI today, and passed with a score of 960(the first 20 questions). I took a leap of faith and bought the crash course as I was not sure about the reviews/comments. Studied for two weeks . Let me assure you its worth every penny!
I been out of school for 2 years and I was pretty nervous about the TSIA. I failed the pre-assessment miserably because I did not remember much after being out of school after 2 years. Mr. Toohey's course was not only a good refresher but he also teaches easier tactics to pass this test and avoid expensive remedial classes. If you are struggling to pass the TSIA definitely check out this course.
I have my TSIA2 Math test tomorrow. I found your videos while I was trying to study, and I can’t tell you how much I WISHED you were my math teacher for all grades. Math was NEVER my fave subject and I’d always breakdown and cry because of the anxiety and stress. You really broke my barriers Mr. Toohey. Hi. I decided to get back to college and get a new bachelor since I want to change careers and discovered that I need to pass the TSI test. It has been many years since I attended college, I did review some material and took the test but I felt in the math part obtaining a score of 935 of 950 which is the score I need to pass the test. Searching around I came across with your videos and found them very educational and easy to understand. I also saw that you offer a full course. How do I get the newest version of the course you offer? If you could help me guiding me where/how to get it I’ll very much appreciate. Thanks
No problem! Whenever you’re dealing with just addition or subtraction, it doesn’t matter the order you go in. Really, subtraction is just ADDING a negative number, so from that perspective it’s kinda the same thing… Does that make any sense?
Ive been out of school for over 30 years. I took it 3 months ago and received a 943, then took it again in December and received a 935. How long should i review before taking the TSIA2 math again? Math is the last class i need to graduate and I would like to do so in May but if i keep failing I cant sign up.😢😢
Thanks for reaching out!! The course is broken up into 6 “Days” of prep… ma y students have been able to fully prepare in less than a week, but I would say 1 to 2 weeks is ideal for most students… get access to the full course, watch the videos, practice the problem sets between the sections, and when your consistently able to answer the questions in the problem sets (using the strategies I teach in the course) you’re ready to take the test!
Let me know if you have any questions… You can do this! Just check out the comments section in my videos. I’ve helped countless students in situations like yours to finally pass the test!
I just finished my TSI EXAM & I passed! 957 in math and got a 6 on my essay and 955 reading. Your videos definitely helped, as I'm 20 years after HS here 😆 thank you!
Sure! The only thing being squared in that expression is the 1… one squared means 1x1, which is just 1. Therefore, you get 3x1 which is just 3! Make sense?
@user-pf8ev9nw1h remember PEMDAS… exponents before multiplication… and remember you’re only squaring the number raised to the power… let me know if you have any other questions! : )
Good question! The question says the number of employees (currently 140) is going to increase by 35%… so the number of employees has to be greater than 140, right? The number of people that will be employed by the company IS the total… 189. if the question was asking “what is the increase” you could go with 49. Make sense?
@@MichaelToohey i guess my issue is with the translation to my language of "will be employed", it sounds to me like a process of employment is going to happen - rather than - the total of people that are going to be hired that year, its very strange because it feels like the question has two meanings.
@@MichaelToohey i got a score of 968 in math and 944 in readiness, and two 5's.. is that good? Advisor said she have no idea what kind of score is it 😅but can only run the system and tell me if i need to retake it or not, anyways i passed ! thank you Mr. Michael!
@user-gp1in5ir1x 968 is definitely a great score in Math!! Really well done!! Not sure if 944 on CRC is enough for the program you’re applying, but the scores you got on the diagnostic could be enough for you to be considered “College Ready”… you can find more detailed information about interpreting your score on the college board website: accuplacer.collegeboard.org/accuplacer/pdf/tsia2-interpreting-your-scores.pdf Hope that helps!
Mr. Toohey I love your way of teaching and how you include other students and walk them through it (but you don't give them all the answers and let them figure it out). I will take the TSIA2 for the first time next week and I am a bit nervous. You have taught me things that I was never able to learn in all my school years in under a week. I have watched your recent videos but I'm not sure if I am prepared enough. Do you think being able to solve the practice questions after practicing a bit is a good sign that I could pass?
It’s definitely a good sign!! I can’t make any guarantees, but if you’re able to solve most of the questions on the official practice test then you should be in pretty good shape… keep watching my videos, and keep practicing! You can do this!
@@MichaelToohey Thank you for responding.. yes before watching your videos I had only gotten 4 questions right on the practice exam, so I got very worried. Now I only got 6/20 questions wrong on it. It is still a lot of wrong answers so I need to keep practicing as you said. Thank you.
@@MichaelToohey Mr. tomorrow morning I will take the TSIA2 for math and will make sure to update my score here. I am still not 100% sure but I am confident that I will pass thanks to your videos. Ha! It appears to be my catchphrase! : ) It’s how I know if things really make sense to students or not… if I sense any hesitation in their response, I know there’s something unclear I need to explain… Does that make sense? ; )
I just bought your course for the TSIA2! Should I be practicing all questions even from the first tsi to study for the tsi2 or just the day6 update vids??
Good question! I recommend working your way through the whole course… I build up the level of difficulty as you work your way through, and the later questions build on the strategies and concepts introduced earlier… Make sense?
MR. TOOHEY! It’s been almost 10 years since I’ve taken my math TSI and failed it miserably ultimately leading to me dropping out of school. 10 years later, I decided to go to nursing school only to have the math TSI in my way again. I did the first few free videos and was so intrigued by your teaching style (I ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND IT) that I purchased the full course. It was either pay for the full course + $10 for the TSI, or pay $650 for remedial math and waste my time. I sacrificed a few weekends from my partner to study and get the concepts down… I could’ve cried yesterday I PASSED I PASSED I PASSED! I got a 950, but for someone who’s never been good at math, that’s amazing! I only had to answer the first 20. IM SO GRATEFUL FOR YOU! I start school June 3rd 🫶🏻
Hello! I always see people that comment they’re taking the TSIA2 and never came back lol🤣 I PASSED the essay part which I was truly shock lol I follow your prompt and it was so easy! I’m really thankful ❤️🥹 bc English is my second language and sometimes I struggle lol but I fail the math part and ELAR. I will buy your course today and I will take it again on Saturday🫶🏼❤️🔥 I’ll keep you posted
Absolutely LOVE your videos!! You explain everything very well! I do have a question, though, with learning this way (logic and strategy) when we pass the TSI test and go into college level math, will it be a bigger struggle not knowing how to write out and solve the problems a specific way? (I still want to purchase your course, just curious if i need to also learn the other ways to be prepared for class)
You will definitely have to learn “math class math” to do well in your college math classes. Yes. But a lot of the the strategies you learn in the course will still apply on later math tests, and maybe most importantly how to understand the “language of math” and what things mean in math. That being said, College algebra is a different skill set for sure.
The only way to get the cheat sheet (plus all the problem sets you need and all Day 3, 4, 5, and 6 videos) is to go to tsimath.net and get access to the Full course!
Almost any number will work to get rid of some of the wrong answers… but I generally recommend starting with smaller values like 0 or 1 because they generally make the arithmetic easier! You can always try lager numbers link 2, 3, or 4 if the smaller numbers don’t work… make sense?
Thanks for reaching out! No part 2 available on RUclips, but you can view the rest of the update when you access the full version of the course at tsimath.net
@@MichaelTooheyis it possible to purchase a day pass? I have my test tomorrow and I love the way you explain. I have purchase mathhelp and I can say I wish I found you first. Mathhelp took a while to study on and did not help me pass. This is my second time taking the tsi2
I’ve been out for school for a couple of years and don’t remember much. I have to take the TSIA 2 before I can start college and I don’t remember much what videos should I watch to prepare and teach me?
For sure watch Day 3 (part 1), my TSIA2 Math Practice Test video, and my TSIA2 Math Update video… those are closest to the first set of 20 questions that determine if you pass or fail… But if you need help with basic arithmetic, you’ll want to watch Days 1 and 2 as well… And if you’re serious about passing, you’ll want to get the full course and simply work your way through… I cover every major concept question type tested in the full course… Just go to tsimath.net to get access! And let me know if you have any other questions!
Good question! I always give away about half of my courses for free here on RUclips, which I’m happy to do! But that means you’re still missing at least half of the commonly tested concepts and question types you’re likely to see on the test if you don’t get access to the Full version of the course! With the Full course You also get access to the TSI Math Basic Concept Cheat Sheet (with every major concept tested) and all the problem sets you need to succeed on the test! Let me know if you have any other questions!
Good question! Not sure about the calculator for the GED, but on most of the TSI Math questions you get a basic 4 function calculator, a square root calculator, or even an occasional graphing calculator on some of the questions…
I’ll take the TSI ELAR on the 24 any recommendations to pass? ( only need the multiple choice section ) my highest score is a 938 with a 4 on a diagnostic.
Yes! Watch my TSI ELAR videos on RUclips, including my TSI Writing and TSI Essay Practice videos… if you like the way I teach and you’re learning from my videos, you can access the full course by clicking the link in the description of my videos! Let me know if you have any other questions!
Hey i love how you explain the questions but i want to know where you find sheets to practice more questions of the same topic because by just doing one it doesnt stick up with me, i like to repeat the problems, like the last question, woud love to practice more questions like that but i cant find them on google
The questions that appear in this video are original questions based on feedback I’ve gotten from students who have taken the exam recently and from tests that I’ve seen… Not a lot of official practice tests/questions available online… but all of the questions you need are available in the full version of the course, organized by concept and level-of-difficulty…
Thanks for reaching out!! The course is designed to help you pass the TSI Math test as fast as possible! I don’t cover all the concepts tested in college Algebra, however: only those specifically tested on the TSI… Make sense?
is there somewhere I can see your full cheat sheet? i've been using your videos and cheat sheet to study for weeks now but its hard to see the whole sheet in the video.
Can you plz explain question 4 as it asks how many people will be employed by the company next year so we have 140 employees already so 49 more people will be employed next year so 49 is the amswer how is it 189??
Good question! Notice the question says the number of employees will INCREASE by 35%, so the answer has to be bigger than 140… I mean if it didn’t increase at all (an increase of 0%) then it would still be 140, right?? But because it’s an Increase of 35%, you can find 35% of 140 (which is 49) and add it back to 140 to get 189. You can also just multiply 140 by 1.35 to get 189, as I show you in the video… Make sense?
That’s it! I usually recommend smaller numbers like 0 and 1 to start (just makes the arithmetic easier) but if you need to increase the values you can! Sometimes you see an expression like x/5 and there it makes sense to plug in a 5 to simplify the expression… so it’s not a hard rule… But as a rule of thumb start with 0 and 1
I passed the TSI in first 20 questions with a score of 974. Thankyou so much sir Toohey for this wonderful preparation course 😁 and I do have a question.. What is CLEP exam meant for? Idk because it is recommended on my course placement.
Congratulations!! I’m so happy to help!! CLEP is a test you can take to earn college credits… I’ve never taken the test so I can’t speak to the content or difficulty level, but if you can test out of more classes and earn some credits without taking the class, it can save you time and money… I’d seriously consider giving it a shot!
Thank you for reaching out!! My more recent uploads in my courses have transcripts/subtitles automatically added… so that’s Days 1-5 of my TSI Math Crash course. Unfortunately, Day 6 doesn’t have subtitles, and neither does my ELAR Crash course… looking into this now to see if there’s a quick fix where I can add them by changing some settings… I’ll let you know if I’m able to do so soon!
Hi, in question #2 why are you plugging in just the 1, and how are you getting 10 and knowing that’s the right answer?? I have my math TSAI2 in 2 days 😅 16:46
Good question! Notice they’re asking about the factors of the expression in the question… so we can can plug in a value for x to turn this into arithmetic. If x = 1, then the question is suddenly “which of the following is a factor of 10” (notice, it’s not “which equals 10”) The factors of 10 are positive and negative 1,2,5,10, because those are numbers you can multiply together to get 10 (the definition of a factor… also see the example of the factors of 12 in the video)… so if we get any of those factors of 10 in the answer choices, it could be the the right answer… in this case, only answer choice C gives us a factor of 10 (when x=1), so it has to be C Make sense? Let me know if you have any other questions!
Hello sir , I’m struggling with TSI , can you help me ? I have to give test in this week because that’s the last deadline. How can I contact you ? Can we talk about my problem? How can I contact you faster?
@MichaelToohey okay let me see So like same number equals to same number is true but once they are different it's not a true statement? Did i get that right?
The math was easy I only failed because I didn’t know Median from range. If you can find the area of a triangle and know range, median, and averages you should pass
Great question! I would argue that 14-16 right out of 20 would probably be enough for a passing score. No one knows for sure, but based on what I’ve seen that a reasonable estimate!

Congratulations, Mayra!!! Thank you for sharing your story!!

I been out of school for 2 years and I was pretty nervous about the TSIA. I failed the pre-assessment miserably because I did not remember much after being out of school after 2 years. At 15:19 why didn't you add 3+25 first then subtract 18? I thought it was do whatever comes first left to right PEDMAS. Someone please explain!
No problem! Whenever you’re dealing with just addition or subtraction, it doesn’t matter the order you go in. Really, subtraction is just ADDING a negative number, so from that perspective it’s kinda the same thing…
Does that make any sense?
Such a great teacher

Hi, one quick question -- on timestamp 15:33, can you please explain how 3(1)² became = 3? Thank you
Sure! The only thing being squared in that expression is the 1… one squared means 1x1, which is just 1. Therefore, you get 3x1 which is just 3! Make sense?
@@MichaelToohey yes! Confusing but makes sense! Thank you!

minute 28:18
Why the correct answer is not 49? it says how many employees will be employed not the total of the employees there will be next year..
Makes sense! There really could be a language issue here… if you interpret “employed” as newly hired, it would be confusing…
@@MichaelToohey i got a score of 968 in math and 944 in readiness, and two 5's.. is that good?

Thank you.

I GOT A 950 FIRST TRYYYY!!! THANKYOU SO MUCH❤❤

You can also just multiply 140 by 1.35 to get 189, as I show you in the video…
Make sense?
@@MichaelToohey yes got it
Thanks
Happy to help!
@MichaelToohey for question 2, do we always use 1 for X or use other number if it does not work out?
That’s it! I usually recommend smaller numbers like 0 and 1 to start (just makes the arithmetic easier) but if you need to increase the values you can!
Sometimes you see an expression like x/5 and there it makes sense to plug in a 5 to simplify the expression… so it’s not a hard rule…
But as a rule of thumb start with 0 and 1

If x = 1, then the question is suddenly “which of the following is a factor of 10” (notice, it’s not “which equals 10”)
The factors of 10 are positive and negative 1,2,5,10, because those are numbers you can multiply together to get 10 (the definition of a factor… also see the example of the factors of 12 in the video)… so if we get any of those factors of 10 in the answer choices, it could be the the right answer… in this case, only answer choice C gives us a factor of 10 (when x=1), so it has to be C
Make sense?

So like same number equals to same number is true but once they are different it's not a true statement?
Did i get that right?
@ChiemeUchechi yes! That’s correct!
The GOAT! 🙏
Ha! Thank you!!
The math was easy I only failed because I didn’t know Median from range. If you can find the area of a triangle and know range, median, and averages you should pass
Sounds like you’re close to passing… Study up, and give the test another shot! And let me know if you have any questions!
wish me lucky guys my test is friday
Praying for your success!!
Also I i commented on some of your other videos if you could take a look pls🙏
Sure! Just responded!
Hi Mr toohey .. I wanted to ask you if I got 16/20 in the math tsi exam will I pass ??
Great question! I would argue that 14-16 right out of 20 would probably be enough for a passing score. No one knows for sure, but based on what I’ve seen that a reasonable estimate!
@@MichaelToohey that's so great to know.. thanks teacher 🤍
I’m happy to help! : )
I'm just gonna send it. Omw to take the math section rn.
Praying for your success!!
Lmao FULL SEND. How’d it go???
Failed my tsi makes no sense
I’m sorry to hear you haven’t passed yet! Let me know if you have any questions… I’ll be happy to help!
Same bro! I was so close to passing though
Thank you so much! I have been out of school for 7 years and binged watched your videos the day before and morning of the test. Guys! THE PLUG IN METHOD WORKS ESPECIALLY 0 and 1’S! Thanks to these videos I passed first time with a 951! Highly recommend! I’m a mother of 3 with a full time job, DO NOT GIVE UP! 🫶🏼
Congratulations, Rebecca!!! I’m so happy for your success!!
hi mr.toohey, i started watching your videos in january and i got a 949 on my tsi today!! I am so close, but i’m proud because math has been something i’ve struggled with all my life. it felt impossible until i found your teaching. your style just works for me, i got so many right from plugging in answers like you tell us too. i’m going to be set to graduate college this spring.
i only need one point so i will be going again to get it done next week. please send prayers!! and if you have any advice to strengthen me to ensure i’m set. i noticed i only struggled with geometric spatial/algebraic reasoning a little, so if you have any recommendations for me on that. i can’t wait to comment again once i pass!🩷
You’ve got this Lauren!!! You’re sooo close!!!
Of course, I’ll be praying for you and your success!!
Do you have access to the full version of the course yet?? I have a lot of geometry questions covered in the full version that don’t appear in my RUclips videos…
