    Thank you so much Mr. Tooey!
    This video was BEYOND a save for me. I had convinced the counsler to remove all the math classes this semester and she left me on my own. Basically "figure out how to pass the TSI. I won't bother giving you advice because no lol" so naturally I turned to RUclips and while the length of the videos stressed me out at first. Narrowing down what we had to do, being honest, straightforward and not bombarding us with mathematical equations to do it" the long way" made a huge difference. For once in my life Math didn't stress me out. It made me excited, it made it fun. The engaging conversations in the videos added to it. Not to mention knowing things such as what "median" and "mode" mean as well as the y-intercept question always having X as 0 made a HUGE difference on the exam! I finished first on the set of 20 questions
    Math classes in general have caused me to loose a lot of hair, as well as cry in frustration making me believe I'm not "good enough" they make me physically stressed and give me literal headaches which my mother tries to remove by rubbing an egg on my head- not to mention every math teacher I've has have been literal demons! (except Algebra B who made things simple and easy to understand as you do)
    Not to mention being moved into remediation classes broke me mentally. The TSI Classes have NOT taught me a single thing that was on the TSI! The fact I couldn't pass the exam caused the classes I loved to be removed with stressful ones which caused me to do stupid things. People hate you and assume you're "stupid" or "lazy" for not passing the damn thing when even the school tutorials don't prepare you for it! My friends who showed up to all the tutorials so far, and have math classes did NOT pass. While i- who had 0 resources except the notes I wrote down when I saw your vids passed with flying colors! Now I can pursue the classes which I actually enjoy with calmness and 0 stress!

    My daughter did the pre-assessment and the practice test without studying and we were very concerned about her ability to pass with only 2 days to study. Ordered the course and went through each question, if she knew it and got it correct, we skipped the video explanations and only reviewed the items she didn't know. Wrote down the video and timestamp of each question that she did not know how to solve and re-reviewed those on day 2. Also had her study the cheat sheet the day of the test. Passed with a 960 with a total of about 4 hours of study time. Would not have passed without this course, excellent resource!

    I just completed the TSI ELAR & Math exam 5 minutes ago. I passed above expected!
    Scores from the first time taking in 2022 :
    ELAR - 956
    Essay - 3
    Math - 938
    Diagnostics - 4
    1-10-2024
    ELAR - 953
    Essay - 5
    Math - 950
    No need for diagnostics, got enough right on the first 20!
    Thank you for your help Mr. Toohey! I followed all of your instructions, studied your course, and applied everything I learned.

    I signed up for Mr. Toohey's TSI math course. It was super helpful. I never took the SAT for college so now that I am transferring to a different college, they needed a TSI math score for me. It's been a couple of years since I took a math class so I was rusty. I watched the videos and got a "college ready" score on my first try. Mr. Toohey is super clear and really shows you how to approach the questions and not freak out. Figuring out what the question is asking is always hard for me and I think Mr. Toohey does a great job of showing you how to think about the questions. Highly recommend his course. Do it, take the test and pass! So worth it!

    Why the correct answer is not 49? it says how many employees will be employed not the total of the employees there will be next year..

    • @MichaelToohey
      @MichaelToohey  9 месяцев назад

      Good question! The question says the number of employees (currently 140) is going to increase by 35%… so the number of employees has to be greater than 140, right?
      The number of people that will be employed by the company IS the total… 189. if the question was asking “what is the increase” you could go with 49.

    It’s been almost 10 years since I’ve taken my math TSI and failed it miserably ultimately leading to me dropping out of school.
    10 years later, I decided to go to nursing school only to have the math TSI in my way again. I did the first few free videos and was so intrigued by your teaching style (I ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND IT) that I purchased the full course.
    It was either pay for the full course + $10 for the TSI, or pay $650 for remedial math and waste my time.
    I sacrificed a few weekends from my partner to study and get the concepts down… I could’ve cried yesterday
    I PASSED I PASSED I PASSED! I got a 950, but for someone who’s never been good at math, that’s amazing! I only had to answer the first 20.

      You will definitely have to learn “math class math” to do well in your college math classes. Yes.
      But a lot of the the strategies you learn in the course will still apply on later math tests, and maybe most importantly how to understand the “language of math” and what things mean in math.
      That being said, College algebra is a different skill set for sure.

    • @MichaelToohey

      Good question! Notice the question says the number of employees will INCREASE by 35%, so the answer has to be bigger than 140… I mean if it didn’t increase at all (an increase of 0%) then it would still be 140, right??
      But because it’s an Increase of 35%, you can find 35% of 140 (which is 49) and add it back to 140 to get 189.

    I’m deaf so I wonder if your courses have a subtitle or transcript?

    • @MichaelToohey
      @MichaelToohey  8 месяцев назад

      Thank you for reaching out!! My more recent uploads in my courses have transcripts/subtitles automatically added… so that’s Days 1-5 of my TSI Math Crash course. Unfortunately, Day 6 doesn’t have subtitles, and neither does my ELAR Crash course… looking into this now to see if there’s a quick fix where I can add them by changing some settings… I’ll let you know if I’m able to do so soon!

    Hi, in question #2 why are you plugging in just the 1, and how are you getting 10 and knowing that’s the right answer?? I have my math TSAI2 in 2 days 😅 16:46

    • @MichaelToohey
      @MichaelToohey  9 месяцев назад +1

      Good question! Notice they’re asking about the factors of the expression in the question… so we can can plug in a value for x to turn this into arithmetic. If x = 1, then the question is suddenly “which of the following is a factor of 10” (notice, it’s not “which equals 10”)
      The factors of 10 are positive and negative 1,2,5,10, because those are numbers you can multiply together to get 10 (the definition of a factor… also see the example of the factors of 12 in the video)… so if we get any of those factors of 10 in the answer choices, it could be the the right answer… in this case, only answer choice C gives us a factor of 10 (when x=1), so it has to be C
      Make sense?
      Let me know if you have any other questions!

    Pls for that question 1, you kept saying true statement
    Whats a true statement?

    • @MichaelToohey
      @MichaelToohey  6 дней назад

      Good question!
      7 = 7 is a true statement.
      So is .5 = 1/2
      But 5 = 7 is NOT a true statement.
      Make sense?

      @MichaelToohey okay let me see
      So like same number equals to same number is true but once they are different it's not a true statement?
      Did i get that right?

    The math was easy I only failed because I didn’t know Median from range. If you can find the area of a triangle and know range, median, and averages you should pass

    • @MichaelToohey
      @MichaelToohey  Год назад +1

      Great question! I would argue that 14-16 right out of 20 would probably be enough for a passing score. No one knows for sure, but based on what I’ve seen that a reasonable estimate!

    hi mr.toohey, i started watching your videos in january and i got a 949 on my tsi today!! I am so close, but i’m proud because math has been something i’ve struggled with all my life. it felt impossible until i found your teaching. your style just works for me, i got so many right from plugging in answers like you tell us too. i’m going to be set to graduate college this spring.
    i only need one point so i will be going again to get it done next week. please send prayers!! and if you have any advice to strengthen me to ensure i’m set. i noticed i only struggled with geometric spatial/algebraic reasoning a little, so if you have any recommendations for me on that. i can’t wait to comment again once i pass!🩷

      You’ve got this Lauren!!! You’re sooo close!!!
      Of course, I’ll be praying for you and your success!!
      Do you have access to the full version of the course yet?? I have a lot of geometry questions covered in the full version that don’t appear in my RUclips videos…
