In a few days, I'm going to Japan for the first time and I'll be there for a whole month. I've wanted to go since I was a kid, now 27. I build and remodel homes for a living, so an Akiya for $5k to $10k would be a fun project and kind of a dream come true.

Asbestos, Flood/Tsunami Zone, or Landslide Zone are pretty much the only real huge deal breakers. Also if building materials are relatively affordable, then not much of a problem for me.
I’ve worked enough construction that I can remodel pretty easy, & since I wouldn’t be living in Japan I’d make it an AirBNB & target it towards westerners to rent. Taller doorways, toilets, larger shower stalls, & raised bed frames.
This is exactly what I am looking for a home that’s fully furnished. How does a American buy or get a free house a akiya in japan ? I want to move there so bad I want to live in the rural part of Japan so bad. I wish somebody would do a step-by-step guide. I know I’m not having a midlife crisis just because I’m 42 and single. I have always wished to live in Japan and have like a little Homestead.

I was so close to visiting and working in Japan at one point myself. I had experience with Motion Capture and in late 2015 I was in contact with Capcom about the facial likeness role of Leon for the Resident Evil 2 Remake. I failed to mention I also have a voice acting background, in the end I lost the part and I can't forgive myself for wasting such an opportunity. That would've been a real dream come true to visit Japan.

Could you please make a video on acquiring investment properties in Japan using debt or creative financing, like seller finance? I moved here a little over half a year ago, moved in with my wife, just recently started working after waiting for my visa to come thru, and I am interested in investing in buy and hold properties. Since I did just come here recently, I have very little cash to my name, but I wanna set myself and my wife up for the future through real estate. It would be greatly appreciated

I understand just by buying a house you can't get the VISA you need to stay long term, how does an American get the proper VISA?
Assuming you are a Retiree with Savings/Pension, you can forget about Japan as far as a "Long Term Visa Stay for Foreign Person". As opposed to other Asian countries; such as Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, Japan does not have any type of "Long Term Retirement Visa" for Foreigners (like the ones available in the 4 developed countries listed), and my Japanese friends there state "that lack of 'Retirement for Foreigner Visa' situation will probably not change soon". I found out the hard way = I assumed that Japan DID have a "Long Term Retirement Visa", provided that the Foreigner Applicant was very "financially secure with money in bank accounts", so I started to plan to Retire there, as I speak Japanese and did live and work there on temporary Business Visa stays a dozen times, but many years ago. I was actually shocked to find out that in order for me to get a "Long Term Stay Visa" (initially for 1 year and then renewable for 3 consecutive years and then 5 years) I would have to "come out of my current blissful Retirement on a Pension and "be employed" there. Thanks but "no thanks"... so I gave up. I asked an Immigration Lawyer there: "Why does Japan not have a Retirement Visa for Financially Secure Foreigners" and he replied: "Old fashioned nationalistic thinking, is the reason.". I love Japan so will be visiting there to look at some akiya homes to purchase for "a vacation home".
Some house be sell at cheap price bcos the house haunted also. If i am, i don't want buy that kind house. Bcos there's a story from one of my people who work in japan, he was working in japan and living is dorm for staff but bcos of his senior always disturb him he decide to rent a house. And found one with cheap house. But when he started live there he be haunted by ghost woman in that house. After few days be disturb by that ghost he invite 2 indonesian people who work in his factory also for live with him there. One of friend which he invite communicated with that ghost and after that he know that the house he living for few days own by woman who do suicide bcos her husband cheating with her own little sister. Bcos of she know that her own sister do that at her with her own husband she depressed and stress until suicide. When the woman died, that house be own by her little sister and she rented it bcos she and her husband which is her older sister husband always be haunted by that woman everytime they living in that house. Strangely only little sister and her husband only be haunted by her if they come to that house after those 3 indonesian man living there.
If a house is cursed or not, it’s always a good idea for a Catholic priest to bless the house.
