I am currently building my second guitar. I went through absolute heck the first time, trying to do things so precise, so precise, so precise… But not this time!, This time I am going to cut so many corners I won’t know which way is left or right. Thank you so much!😎
Ha Ha. Love it. Keep the coffee hot at Jack's Midnight Repairs. It keeps the hands steadier for those fine touch ups. Add those beauties to the "Wall of shame."
That's just what I was afraid of when I made this video. Now that I've shown the world the simplicity of guitar repair, i've probably put myself and other shops out of business:)
! When it comes to Guitar repair i do'nt know Jack, but i have tried the duct-Tape binding trick, and can attest It accepts Sharpie purfling REAL good . . the adjustable Bridge idea is not only brilliant, but i know for a fact i can get authentic Fender Washers at my local big-Box store
Thanks for those astute tips, but I wonder if fender washers on anything other than a Fender is an acceptable practice. We MUST be ever vigilant and meticulous with our repair work:)
Ummm... oh wow, I think I've found a new job, I'll start my own midnight repair guitar business. I can do all those quick and easy repairs with tools I already have in my garage (and used to finish my basement). Seriously I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry! Thank God both guitars look ultra cheap!
Oh dear… needed that laugh. I’m watching the political situation unfolding in America at the moment so the laugh was much needed. I lost it when the stapler came out and cried when you suggested to reach in and bend the ends for extra strength… Tom (Aspiring first guitar builder from Australia trying to watch as many of your “pragmatic” videos that I can before I start)… that you again…
You should consider repairing violin family instruments. Replace those pesky sound posts with a 1/4-20 threaded rod and a coupling nut. Enlarge those f-holes and move it around, tighten or loosen it up - and say Voila!(in French -just like Rene Morel).
I am so glad I haven't started making my guitar yet. These tips will save me so much time.... and I don't think I'll have to learn how to make up batches of hide glue! I am curious though, you never addressed how to cover up that big hole in the body that the strings run over.
For that hole, you just cut the end out of a number 10 food can, place it over the hole and tack it down four times, once if you want it to swivel open for interior access. Follow me for more great guitar repair tips:)
You forgot the shiny finish with a 6 dollar can of polyurethane. No need to tape off the fretboard or take the strings off. Hold it at 2 inches for good measure.😀
Sorry, I'm keeping this for myself. Besides, I can't just trust anyone to have the skills required for this level of work. My reputation is at stake here:)
The finesse and artistic touch required for this level of innovation and job performance is inspiring!

Best repair video I've watched. Now, I feel like I can fix any broken guitar or at least break it AND do it cheap too!

Brilliant repairs it's good enough!
Perfect, I’m on my way.
I like the red green energy of this
I have a friend who would probably give this approach a go! Thanks for the laugh!
Love it!❤
Somehow I am just happy Jack ain't a doctor and I'm the patient! ... great vid, well done!
This is fantastic! I was not expecting this 😂
the roofing nail is a nice touch .....
I probably shouldn't have shown that. If the major manufacturers see it, they'll all be doing it:)

I see what you did there. : )

😂😂🤣🤣🤣😂Can't speak for laughing. Thanks for cheering me up Kevin👍🏼
I needed that good laugh tonight!!
Many laughed. Others got sick. A few thought I was serious.
I bet that Rogue acoustic has never played better!
That could be the only objective fact that came out of this video:)
Thanks for the laugh!
😂so funny. Great work Kevin
Wow, can you fix my Martin D-28 that needs a neck reset?
Just get in line. They're piling up at the door!
That one's a little more difficult. Probably take up to twenty minutes. Cold beer in the waiting room though:)
This is the only man I want building me guitars 😆
Great !!!
Hey.....can you apply the same type of philosophy to something like.....shoulder surgery.....?
It has been done! And many have benefited from just such an approach.

My philosophy since day one! LOl.

Haha. Thats how my brother would do it. Thsts good enough.😅
RUclips lesson 101, good practice # 1: you make videos for more than one person 😂
For a second I thought this video was released 4 weeks too early 🤣

@@thepragmaticluthierswivel access! Absolutely, then I can keep my extra strings and picks in there and they won't fall out!
Love it!
I'm on my way with some of my best guitars. Do you take used traveler's checks?
No, but if you're into the kind of work we do a Jack's, a cold beer is all the payment needed. I like "Spaten" lager.
"Oops" lol. My gf doesn't get sarcasm, this video would mess her up SO much. Haha
Brilliant satire 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
👍👍👍👍👍
Very, very funny Kevin !

Thank you for recommending that finish technique! I'l give that the real college try:)
🤣That was great! lol.
Sad, but true
p.s. i have a 1964 OO-18 (which is considered the absolute best guitar Martin ever made) and there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. Can you help?
A nut and bolt here and there, a few staples and some judiciously placed duct tape and we'll bring that guitar right up to snuff:)
This is great entertainment!! 🤣
Thank you! Sometimes I enjoy taking a humorous look at what we do.
BR549 CUSTM R'PARS
Bwahahahahahaaa ....love it
I have a rare Martin ....only one of three ever built and it needs a reset .
What is the address to the shop .... I'll send it over right away !
Many guitars enter Jack's, some never come out:)

Close Enough Guitar Repair! 🤣🤣
Maybe I should call it, "Guitar Repair In The Park"?
Can we get a franchise? 😅
Sorry, I'm keeping this for myself. Besides, I can't just trust anyone to have the skills required for this level of work. My reputation is at stake here:)
Jeez, I don't know....think I'll take my ol guitar over to Bob's Quick Fixit Shop...he's got the hot glue gun.
That IS a definite downside of Jacks. We don't have a hot glue gun: Got a caulking gun and a pop riveter though:)
Least you could do is put the wing nuts on the inside ........ hehe . Are these real repairs or are you just having some fun ?
I sincerely hope that no one takes any of this video seriously, except for bringing back the Richie Havens look:)
@@thepragmaticluthier he was great at Woodstock but I was busy ln high school in Australia . Take your eyes out Haven they called him ......
🤪🤪🤪
zany face
Hilarious 😂😂
That's the problem with too much moonshine.
Who's moon? And is that shine satin or high gloss?
🤣🤣🤣
And all for the low, low price of a buck 3.50$ That hurt to watch, even on crap guitars. Very funny though.
LOL
Interesting business ideas...hmmmmmmmm.
It is! I figure I should be able to stay in business for about a day and a half before the law suits pile up or they run me out of town:)
Ha Ha
Hopefully this is satire.
It was. I think it was. Yes, I'm quite certain that it was, although....:)
