jeff st laurent thank you mate, I have plenty more videos to come so I won’t be stopping any time soon that’s for sure, I’m really glad that you enjoy my videos, and I’m always trying new things to be unique so my videos are fun to watch And with comments like this how could I ever stop :-)
mate looks good. I thought the black one was nicely proportioned but more power to you for going with exactly what you want. Thanks for the vid. the bike is going to look great!
Hi IRidetas, thank you for that super nice comment, I have a picture in my head of the overall look Im after so im doing my best, getting comments like yours is what makes it so fun to share this process :) I've updated my camera and audio gear so you will see an improvement around Ep.9, two more episodes before than! Keep the comments and ideas coming :)
No worries. Im loving your vids mate they are very high quality already so look forward to another step up and find them a good balance of how to vs fast watchable pace man so congrsts to you and i find the combination of it inspiring and im looking forward to seeing this and the other projects evolve! Take care and we will be watching! 😁
Thanx IRidetas, I try and keep the talking to as little as possible but enough to explain what I'm doing as well as helpfull stuff along the way, It's always going to be more about the bike build and less about me and what i did for the week. :) As you have probably noticed lol Btw What Is IRidetas?
Haha i hear you. I do very little stuff in front of the camera and im not an over the top high energy personality type of guy! So the vids i do tend to be about the bike or environment not me!!! iRidetas is short for i ride tasmania. I make a few ride/vlog vids and am doing a build series on a bike for my wife atm!
Came for the seat, stayed for the tank. I'm thinking about de-badging / removing the emblems from my gas tank. Can you use bondo/filler over the pin holders to smoothen it out for a flush tank look?
Hi. I love your videos, it helps me a lot with the build of my bike. I'm doing my seat now and I was wondering what about the rubber bumpers? Are they not necessary in this seat pan? Thanks!
if you search for "rubber bumpers for motorcycle seats" i think you will get the idea. In my old seat the rubbers are there to prevent direct contact of the seat with the chassis. I dont know if they are really necessary.
Red Iron Tattoos hi my bike Building brother, great question, I’d use contact adhesive instead of staples, (this was advice from an upholstery guy I spoke to) I t Fibreglass I made with 5 layers of FG mat, it’s not very thick but it is strong 💪. Hope that helps
Always been a big fan of your videos! If I may ask a question, I built a similar fiberglass seat pan like yours, is it safe just to put in on top of the frame, using fasteners to fix it down? I mean is it ok to not have anything in between the fiberglass seat pan and the frame?
Ryan Gao hi mate, great question and I will explain this in an upcoming video, When the upholstery goes on usually they put a layer of material on the underside. Hopefully this answers your question
Ryan Gao I just bought a 1951 singer sewing machine to do the budget scrambler seat myself, the sewing machine has a bit of a funny story that I will tell in a video coming soon so look out for that one 👍😊
Hey Dan, any chance you recall what the thickness of the foam is? Ran into the same issue today. Btw awesome videos you’re putting on here! Was at Cognito Moto’s shop last week to pick up parts and i chatted about you with Devin 😉
Hi Simon, Thank you for the kind words :), Great question by the way, im always happy to help, the black foam was 50mm and the pink is about 25-30mm so half the thickness, are you building the same bike? I assume the conversion went well with Devin? I have a lot to offer Cognito Moto as a business due to my fast growing channel and I'm sure they will see this in time, I thank you for the support, its really nice to know im helping you in your build :) let me know If you need anything else.
Thank you Dan, appreciate the quick answer 👌🏻 I’m building a 72 CB750 sohc from scratch with everything from 1000cc built engine to gsxr front end. Just did the conversion half an hour ago and went flawless, as always from Devin. Yeah i’m sure it won’t take long for someone to pick up and sponsor your channel ... great content! 👍🏻
Simon Wohlfahrtstaetter that’s amazing, have you done a few front end conversation? I’ve got some massive plans for this channel this year so it’s very exciting. So stay tuned and keep the comments and questions coming my bike building brother:)
Alex Mayhew I'm not to sure what it's correct name is sorry, however, it's the highest density you can get for an open cell foam here in Australia and all the upholstery or foam suppliers have it. Where do you live ?
Alex Mayhew I'm currently in the US myself, just jumped on a cruise ship 👍 holiday! Apparently a common foam used for the seats in the us is that multiple colour stuff it is called rebounded or reglued foam. It will work as well as this pink stuff, I would of used the multiple colour foam myself however we can't get it in Australia. Hope that helps
Cafe Racer Garage yeah, it’s really good to see someone make their own seat, instead of cut the frame adjusting to a pre bought seat. I’m about to make my own seat pan in the next few weeks and this is practically a tutorial which has definitely motivated me to make my own. Thanks man and keep the vids coming 👍🏽
Wow Charlie, Thank you :) its these kinds of comments that motivate the crap out of me and keep me inspired to share my builds. You are welcome to leave me a comment anytime :) hitting the like button works too :) Dan

You could have enlarged the spare holes in your seat base as breather holes.
@@hodaka1000 Smart Idea :) love the way you think
@@CafeRacerGarage
Factory seats have them so air can escape when you sit on it and to help them dry out if moisture gets into the foam
AWESOME......THE SOUND IS FIXED! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

thank you brother, any questions just ask ;)
Just bought that foam today I gotta build my own seat pan because I don't wanna loose the back cap and ninja pocket on my 78 GS1000
This is awesome, I can't wait to see how you go, send me an image in Instagram when it's done :)

I'm using the same method on my rigid frame bike
Nice welding pattern!
looking good so far!
Thank you for the kind words Tom.
WHAT FOAM? I cannot find a link or simple answer anywhere! Keep up the good work
you can do closed cell foam or rebond foam. www.thefoamfactory.com/opencellfoam/rebond.html
I'm wondering what glue you use to put the foam on the seat pan. Is it the all purpose cement from your amazon page?
Came for the seat, stayed for the tank. I'm thinking about de-badging / removing the emblems from my gas tank. Can you use bondo/filler over the pin holders to smoothen it out for a flush tank look?
Jason Cho you sure can. It just needs to be good quality filler.
The seat base looks like a skateboard! ...hmm, maybe that's a good idea? :-)
haha yes it sure does, Thanks John :)

What is the name under the seat That is planted

JB Visuals hi mate and thank you 😊
I don't think I am lol only because I don't know what a bcr rider is 😶. what is it?
Good video thanks for all the info 👌🏼

Cafe Racer Garage thanks for the reply, helps allot👌🏻
How come you couldn't carve the seat slimmer?
Leave the space near the tank. Instant nut warmer ,lol
When you remove your oil tank what did you use to substitute it?
Not sure what you mean by oil tank
