People love to think that they need a trd offroad pro even if the most offroad they will be is a dirt road at a campground. They also complain about towing capability only being 5000lbs but they will never tow a trailer.
Most people only need a truck for runs to home depot to get some bags of mulch or a 4x8 sheet of plywood/dry wall, which the ridgeline excels at. It is the only midsize truck that will fit that 4x8 sheet flat between the wheel wells.
The ridgeline is the truck 90% of people actually need.
Exactlyyy its so true
Or, like me, they aren't going to tow a big camper. There are so many smaller, easier to tow campers available that are perfect for couples or couples with a guest (like a grown child) and they are all under 5000lbs max weight. I'm considering trading in my Accord Hybrid for one of these babies so I can buy a light weight camper. It's affordable and capable and I can't justify spending on a Colorodo that I have to add all the features of the Ridgeline to for extra cost, which, depending on two package you add can only get 1,000lbs more supposedly.
I just bought a Trailsport, and compared to the Silverado I was driving... The Honda is amazing. I don't regret the purchase. Hopefully it will have that legendary Honda reliability, which was my main buying point over other brands.
That is great news! You'll love it..
Good job on the video man! It was a pleasure to watch!
Thank you!! Much appreciated!!
The 2025 will be Hondas first full frame vehicles hopefully it doesn’t ruin the smooth ride we shall see.
I hope so too!!
Just bought a black edition! With many OEM Accessory parts worth every penny what a great truck!
Very nice!! I hope you enjoy it!
Hey Bern , great review on the Ridgeline. I have a 2018 and love it. Don't like the button shift. Don't need paddle shifter. Probably will add front leveling kit. 1 1/2 ". Just found your channel and will be watching more.🤟
Thank you sir! I appreciate that! It would look great with a leveling kit. Welcome aboard man!!
Love the videos! Keep ‘em coming!
Thank you sir!!
Solid video. Actually, I am fine with 5,000 lbs of towing. My camper only weighs 2900 lbs. So far in my shopping, most Ridgelines have 1,480 to 1,580 lbs of payload and the new Tacomas that I am seeing have around 1,200 lbs of payload. The Tacoma is a great truck, but most RLs have more payload than most Tacomas in my shopping. Ummm, the RL is more capable than the Tacoma in terms of payload. LOL, the Ridgeline is a truck. I am not brand loyal and will consider all midsize trucks that have around 1,500 lbs or more of payload.
Thank you! Yeah, I myself have never had anything over 5k lbs to tow haha.
Ridgelines are awesome. The 2nd gen addressed the biggest problem with the 1st gen, which was being extremely ugly.
Hahaha it sure was an obscure looking thing LOL
Haha yup the first gen is sooo ugly when the second gen came out I fell in love I’m taking delivery of mine next week can’t wait 🙌🏽
The 2nd Gen ridgeline definitely improved the look of it. I don't see many in my area compared to f150 or even mavericks
That's interesting!!
I live in Michigan, and with a state dominated by the big 3, I hardly see any Ridgelines. However, I like having one of the only Ridgelines in my area, because I don't like to have the same thing everyone else has. It's a copy and paste mentallity with Ram, Ford, and Chevy.
Great review Bern. Wondering what the next Generation Odyssey Minivan will look like inside and outside?
Thank you! Yeah I'm curious myself!
I like having a truck (Trailsport/2024) that not every other guy is driving. Too many F-150s and RAMS in my area. Ridgeline stand out, especially the Black edition and new Trailsport.
Right! I agree. Plus they're fun to drive!
Very good video very detailed I definitely agree with you that shifter is terrible I don't mind buttons for the thermostat and for the stereo but not for the shifter there should be a stick there it would be just better quality you don't have to worry about water or juice getting inside of the cracks of the buttons or even the buttons sticking eventually that's what happens with them Honda went totally wrong here put that shifter back on for 2025 make a truck out of it have a good one
Thank you! Yeah Im curious what the next Ridgeline will be like man
I have a 2023 purchased new in January and what has impressed me is the ITVM-4 AWD system. The torque vectoring is amazing. The wireless charger is dogshit though…
Very nice! Yeah VTM is excellent!! And yeahh I never use the wireless charger haha
Since 2023, pilot kept the same engine but removed the VTEC and went with a DOHC to meet stricter regulations. That paired with a new 10 speed auto lead to about 10% efficiency boost out of the engine. I know because I got a 2024 ridgeline and was hoping they would put the combo in this year. Alas my car makes a great vroom vroom and I stop at the gas station a little more often.
That's not accurate. The 2024 has the same 3.5 SOHC and 9 speed transmission
@@davidnolde1031 typo. Was supposed to say 2023 pilot.
That was my point. I got a 2024 ridgeline and it didn’t get the same treatment as the pilot
The Ridgeline outperforms my ex-Tacoma by far!!
Just traded in my Tacoma a couple of weeks ago for a Ridgeline and it is night and day compared to the Tacoma, it is so smooth and quiet it’s on par with my wife’s Lexus RX 350.
It's true!
Ridgeline really is on a tier of its own, really drives well!
my main selling point was the rear seat leg room for a midsize truck. yes it does not have that much legroom compared to a F-150 but I didnt want a full size truck and this think has the most rear seat leg room of almost any midsize truck
Yeah it certainly is bigger than a Tacoma!
U can measure both 2017 and this new one for ground clearance and see that it has more than advertised 🤷🏻♂️
Yeah true but unfortunately the rear lower control arms hang so low
Good review Mr Bern - feel the "burn" ... Honda Ridgeline is a good truck, but bland exterior & interior ... Honda should give each of their vehicles a unique front end look, not basically the same front end on most of their product line, IMO ... Ford Ranger, Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, Volkswagen Amorok, IMO, look much better inside & out ...
Thank you kindly! Yeah I agree I wish they put a liiitle more effort into it!
Def not companions but rivals fs
Yeah exactly!
I try to like this vehicle but i can't stand that goofy looking trim around the back window.
Yeah I totally agree its for nothing too!
