The thing that is the most sad and nostalgic is that since these are about people who died in 1962, one year after I was born is that the majority of these people were born in the 1800's. There isn't a person alive today in 2024 who was born before 1900. Since I was born in 1961 at least for the first 10 to 20 years of my life, I was lucky to grow up with still quite a few people who were born in the 19th century. The sense of the passing of time, hard work, nostalgia, history, wisdom and the sense of the passing of an era that can't come back. It is a sense of melancholy, longing for a simpler and better time mostly with people who knew who they were and had led solid lives with decency, meaning and purpose. An example for me is that all of my grandparents were born in the 1890's but I only knew one of them. It is the sense of the passing of an era that can't come back ever, with the feeling for the longing of a better, simpler, safer time.
It has always made me sad that my mother's father was born in 1884(48 when my mom was born) and I never got to know him because we were generations apart. He died in 1955 ,6 years before I was born I often wonder what his voice sounded like
Although I was only a child at the time, I clearly remember the day that Marilyn Monroe died. Several years earlier, my father had taken me to see “Some Like It Hot” (quite an experience for a six-year-old!), the only Monroe film I actually saw in its original release. May she and my father both rest in peace.
Also, Thomas Mitchell, who played Gerald O'Hara in Gone With the Wind. He won the Oscar for best supporting actor for Stagecoach in 1939. He was also in The Hurricane in 1937 and in It's a Wonderful Life in 1946.
A lot of these folk will be long, long forgotten and if not, then foggy in distant memory. Ironically i watched " Hobson's Choice" today, starring Charles Naughton, a fine actor in that stable of Alaister Sim, John Mills, Alec Guinness and Bernard Miles amongst many others. This is a lovely video you have produced. Excellent, best of luck from England

My dad died February 4 1962 age 44. I was 5 years old. He just got his masters in education after serving in the US ARMY for 22 years. He graduated 2nd in his class. He was going to be a teacher.
On Ernie Kovack's grave is written "Nothing in Moderation". The story goes he was reaching for his cigarette lighter while driving thus creating the car wreck that killed him. He was a great person.
It was a drug overdose she had been addicted to drugs for sometime and "Time Magazine" reported in 1973 that Los Angeles County coroner Thomas Noguchi, the doctor who performed Monroe's autopsy, said that contrary to rumors, Monroe's stomach was never pumped after her death. The level of Nembutal in her bloodstream was 4.5 milligrams per 100, which is the equivalent of 40 or 50 capsules indicating suicide. She was a heavy drinker and mix champagne with sleeping pills at times to help her sleep. Her good friend Judy Garland just years later after her in 1969 of a drug overdose.

Thank so much for this thoughtful insight..
That’s so interesting. I was born in 61 and feel the exact same way.
My grandmother was born in 1891. I was born in 1956.
My paternal grandfather was born in Ireland, back in the 1860's, my father in 1905. Me, 1960. Really spread out years between generations.
It has always made me sad that my mother's father was born in 1884(48 when my mom was born) and I never got to know him because we were generations apart. He died in 1955 ,6 years before I was born

Look - there are too many unanswered questions about Marilyn Monroe's death. Let's leave it at that, shall we?
