Oh yeah! And those commercials were hilarious, not only bc of Clara Peller & her 2 friends: "it's a mighty big bun," But the itty-bitty beef patty inside the big bun! 😂😂😂😂😂 God bless her, and everyone mentioned here. RIP🕊🕊
Ugh! They showed that commercial again and again and again until everyone I knew was sick of it. They had tee shirts that said WHERE'S THE BEEF? Denny's had something called "Here's the Beef". It was just the way she delivered the line that made it funny.
Danny Kaye died from a blood transfusion that wasn’t filtered or screened properly- some sources say it was Hepatitis and others saying it was AIDS…..He was a brilliant performer…RIP
This was really touching to see and thanks for sharing your production! VERY impressive and we lost so many GREATS that year. May they all rest in peace................😔🙏
Hugh Brannum grew old in front of a generation of kids. He was fairly young at the beginning of Captain Kangaroo and an old man at the end of the show.
Both Buddy Rich and Lee Marvin served in the US Marines during WW 2. Rich served stateside as a judo instructor training other US Marines in unarmed hand to hand combat and Marvin was a combat veteran who took part in the invasion of Saipan and was wounded in battle.
I know that Jackie Gleason was a legendary performer from the early days of television itself, but to me, he'll forever always be Sheriff Buford T. Justice.
Lloyd Haynes was terrific in his role as a high school teacher in L.A. as "Mr. Dixon" in "Room 222" (1969-'74). One of best TV Shows of all time, winning countless awards. He also had a role in Chuck Norris's first solo Movie in "Good Guys Wear Black"(1978)....True

My parents and I was driving from Anaheim,CA to Las Vegas one night back in 1986 or '87 I believe, when we heard of the passing of Jackie Vernon on the car radio. True Story...He was the voice of "Frosty The Snowman"(1968)......
One slight correction, however: Alf Landon was 101 years of age when he passed away...not 100. He was born in September of 1887, and passed in October of 1987. I remember it in the newspaper at the time, which correctly said age 101. I checked Wikipedia and they made the same mistake as this video (even though they listed the birth/death dates correctly). It could be that this video used Wikipedia -- however two sources getting it wrong does seem to indicate that perhaps not a lot of care was taken. All one has to do is read the dates.
Dean passed on Christmas Day, 1995. His son was an Air Force pilot in the year 1987. I was in the USAF active duty then and stationed at March AFB, in Moreno Valley, Ca. He flew an F-4 Phantom aircraft with a co-pilot on the day he passed, March 21, crashing into one of the nearby mountains around the base. I went on a search and recovery effort along with hundreds of other airman from the base. He and his co-pilot were killed in the fighter jet crash. The plane they flew was utterly destroyed, strewn over the mountain range. Human remains were found there as well, scattered along with military clothing items. I myself found such items. Yes, Dean was not the same after this. He lived another 9 years at least. I visit his crypt when I visit Marilyn's as well. I think of his music, movies and his son as an Air National Guard pilot.
Great actors in their time. I was in Elementary School that year and was in 2nd-3rd Grade. I didn't know they passed that year and was unaware of their deaths and how they died. Great video of them.
(8:26) Alf Landon, 100 years old. Cause of death..."undisclosed." Can't imagine how a healthy 100 year old could just up and die... I might be going out on a limb here, but I would guess "natural causes" (such as organ failure).
Not sure on the David Susskind obit you needed to include the word, "fatal..." as his presence in this video makes clear it was. Wonderful presentation though!
Oh THAT'S Quinn Martin! And to think all these years, for some reason, I thought Quinn Martin was TWO people whose last names were Quinn and Martin, like Hanna and Barbera. 😁

Dean Paul Martin was killed in a plane crash. it was probably, although we will never fully know, a variety of factors that caused the crash although the simple explanation was he slammed it into a mountain. But he knew the mountains were nearby, yet the air traffic controller could not clear him to ascend quickly because of heavy civilian air travel above him. Thus, it was both an accident but it was also an incident. It is also believed that Martin was distressed over the fact that his ex-wife Dorothy Hamill, the famous ice skater, had just remarried two weeks earlier and he had just learned about it.
I don't remember hearing about deans son or that he even had a son, Annnd that his son was married to Dorothy Hamill. I have a feeling he would be very disappointed.

Tv today is a million stupid commercials
Many will remember actor Robert Preston as "Centauri" in the movie The Last Starfighter. Thank you for the video!

Many of us who grew up in the 80's will remember Clara Peller for her most popular "Where's the beef?" catchphrase in early 80's Wendy's commercials.
She was an example of “You’re never too old”. She didn’t become famous until she was in her 80s.

Rita Hayworth was so beautiful!
miss fuzzy britches
I have all of her movies now on HD Blu-ray. Several original photos as well. Yeah, I am a Rita Hayworth fan, especially her 1940s era.
Lots of familiar faces in this video, my all time favorite though is Rita Hayworth. Arguably the most beautiful woman EVER ❤😊
She was also Latina but Hollywood wanted to keep that a secret!🙆🤦😱
So many great stars left us in 87'. Loved Hayden Rorke on I Dream Of Jennie.
Full-Bird Colonel "Dr.Bellows"...

Rat Bolger was "The Scarecrow" in "The Wizard of Oz" (1939)...He also played Shirley Jones father in TV'S "The Partridge Family" (1970-1974).....

Strangely, I remember a lot of these deaths from this particular year. I guess I was watching a lot of television as a 10 year old in 1987.
