Feb 23. 1965 Was a very sad day We lost a great comic actor. Who made all of our lives a happy one we all grew up with star laurel.. He and mr, oliver hardy were and will always be the greatest #1 comedy team of our time thank you gentlemen for makeing our world a great place to live May u both rest in peace Fron a fan of theres for life . John 3 16-17 Fron a fan Joey
Paul Waner, a Hall of Fame baseball player, also died in 1965. I met his brother Lloyd, another Hall of Famer, at a baseball camp in Connecticut in 1968.
Interesting that Dorothea Lange's "migrant mom" photo is so iconic that she's identified with THAT pic and not with a personal pic of Miss Lange herself.
Soprano Jeanette MacDonald MGM star of the 1930s and 40s. She and Nelson Eddy were responsible for bringing MGM out of the red becoming the most successful singing screen couple of Hollywood’s golden age. Nelson Eddy, broken-hearted over her death, passed just 2 years later. RIP
Gone too in 1965: Thomas Bertram Costain author of The Silver Chalice a "cult" Bible classic movie introducing us to Paul Newman. I LOVE RELIGIOUS EPICS and Paul Newman did sensational in his "baby teeth" (first movie) and director Vince Saville called The Silver Chalice the "springboard" to Newman's superb career!
Unfortunate that Shirley Jackson died so young. Known primarily for her horror writing and warped-narrator perspectives, she actually excelled in a number of genres, including satire. For me she has always seemed a treasure hidden in plain sight.
"Do you ski Mr. Laurel? No but I rather be skiing than dying!" (Stan Laurel's dying words. But he died of a massive stroke just like Oliver Hardy did in 1957!)
Interesting. Churchill lived to be 90 years old despite being an overweight smoker. Wonder how long he might have lived if he had been a non-smoking health nut.
He was one of the *LUCKY* few that made it to a ripe old age despite his vices The kind of person many smokers say was a relative of theirs (my uncle smoked 60 a day and lived to 90)

It's always interesting to hear personal connections to historical figures.

It's fascinating how certain images can become synonymous with an individual's legacy.

Thank you for sharing these memories of two iconic figures.

Very. Peaceful. Music
I'm glad you found it peaceful! Music can truly be a great escape.
I'm surprised you didn't have Linda Darnell on here she passed away in 65 in a house fire...you can have a part 2-3 to this
Shirley Jackson and Clara Bow were so pretty!
They were indeed! Their beauty and talent are timeless.
Unfortunate that Shirley Jackson died so young. Known primarily for her horror writing and warped-narrator perspectives, she actually excelled in a number of genres, including satire. For me she has always seemed a treasure hidden in plain sight.

Thank you for sharing this interesting tidbit about Stan Laurel. It's amazing how even in their final moments, legends like him have a way with words.
If you can, I would like the name of your theme music. I can’t find it. Thanks!
Thank you for watching! The theme music is "Memories of You" by Kevin MacLeod.
@@funeralfyThanks for the title. I can’t seem to find it anywhere. Any suggestions on where to look? Keep up the good work!
Queen Louise of Sweden was not assassinated. It was her brother Lord Louis.
I was just going to say that. Lord Mountbatten was assassinated in 1978, I believe
Thank you for pointing that out!
And Ray Collins "late bloomer" actor who peaked as Lt. Art Tragg on Perry Mason cut down at 78 from throat cancer.
It's always sad to hear about the passing of talented individuals.
RIP angels
Thank you for remembering these legends with us.
"I'd rather be skiing than dying."
It's important to make the most of every moment we have!

And an alcoholic. Big time.
He was one of the *LUCKY* few that made it to a ripe old age despite his vices

@@Keithbarber OMG.
@@BobbnoxiousWhat a bloke!
Maybe if Churchill had taken up yoga and kale smoothies, he'd still be with us today!

Maybe Churchill's secret to longevity was all the stress from leading a country!
