I really like that you seem to be making these campaign review videos a little longer recently. I don't know how much of it is a conscious effort and how much is just that the recent campaigns just have more to be said about them, but this sort of very quick overview of the early moves is really engaging and interesting.
Combination of both I'd reckon
I agree! It’s a quick watch but still gives more insight into what to expect from the campaign. Great series!
idd. Great heads up about the campaign, and also the tips on where to go next. He knows so much
i think it's both.. effort, enjoyment, and analytics
i think these slightly longer videos fill a perfect youtube analytics niche.. multiple consistent uploads, and not just 30 sec shorts.. but 5ish minutes that are easy for the target demographic to engage with and not click off of.. maximizing view time & minimizing ppl leaving the video.. we are strategy gamer demographic after all lol.. less likely to click off of a 6 min video than other demographics
Much better than "Yup. This campaign is good. Fun campaign and strong. See you next time."
For Ze Lady
Every new video makes me super-inspired and start a new campaign well before I finished the previous one 😅 got 10 new going last few weeks 😁
Bruh I never finish my campaigns. Haha I've finished one as tyiron doing the vortex campain. I either lose or they update the game and the file isn't compatible with the new update.
I think I haven't finished a single one, always lose interest when it gets too easy and everything is just auto resolvable or the territory becomes too big and annoying to manage. I think the longest I ever played was grimgor back in tww 1 at turn 250 or something
@@xx-knight-xx2119 haha you need to play more often..!
Yo me too! I love starting new campaigns. I spend like 20 mins a day on the new campaign screen lol. Watching these videos annd getting inspired to start another. I finished an empire campaign in WH1 and ALMOST finished an Isabelle campaign on WH2. Never even finished a vortex. And now I have a Kislev in realms of choas and like 5 IE games going
You can take out Grom in 6 turns, although will only get the trait on the Fay Enchantress. Turn 1 - take out army (manually to limit casualties), build farms to recruit archers, stand by bridge to recover. Turn 2 - take Brionne, recruit archers. Turn 3 - move to Aquitaine bridge, recruit more archers. Turn 4 - Grom should be in the Aquitaine settlement, attack and take settlement. Turn 5 - move towards Massif Orcal. Turn 6 - take Massif Orcal. Can get back to Carcassone by turn 8, well in advance of Morghur/Ikit bothering you.
Yes this is the way to do it. And then you can confederate with Aquataine
you kinda want to farm him though, not just for the trait but also completing the vows can be really benificial
Worked for me - thx.
I love Morgiana, you didnt mention though that Orion WILL attack Parravon. I personally like to obliterate Grom ASAP then declare war on Parravon just so you can secure the very powerful province. It makes recruiting knights and pegasus rider so much cheaper.
That's so anoying, I usually play Durthu and befriend Paravon, who tend to do a better job at protecting my west flank than Orion does protecting my Southern flank, because as soon as he gets hit by 1 enemy like Skaven or Dwarfs, the other moves in and wipes him out.
There’s a mod that stops him from being at war with them.
@@Mire-Drivewhat’s the mod
@@Mire-Drivewhat’s the mod please tell me
Bretonnia has always been my favorite & most played race, so I was able to handle this start position pretty well, but I can definitely see how people would struggle with it.
Definitely agree with what Legend said about getting 3 melee lords to follow her around the map, you can delete whole armies by putting them in melee and using dwellers below (especially in sieges) but you do have to be careful against beastmen and skaven that they dont get ambushed.
You really do wanna bline all three of those factions he mentioned, get to ikit claw before he starts spamming weapon teams.
I also recommend researching most of those technologies that give you diplo relations, otherwise there's a good chance that Clan Angrund and Reikland are also going to attack you as soon as you've dealt with those 3 factions, which you probably dont want to happen.
Yeah I try to play this normally but bretonnian infantry are just such garbage
I understand the knight focus and infantry try not being great but they’re just insanely trash - like playing with skavenslaves
Loving these longer starting position guides which are really helpfull for all newcoming WH3 players!
I found Ikit to be the most dangerous of the three. Simply because he can come at you with up to 4 armies, two of those are dangerous, the other two are like thrash. It's funny with Fey Enchantress to deal with Ikit I found going in ambush stance and baiting with lords to draw out Ikit is effective but it really sucks getting ambushed early on by Ikit. Great guide.
Loving these videos, gives me inspiration to use other lords I wouldn't normally go for.
However, your sound levels seem to be very low compared to other RUclips videos. I always need to turn you almost all the way up, then a ad plays at the end and it's really loud!!
Fairly short into the campaign as well you will have Noctilus raiding your coastal settlements as well
On the topic of Grom, don't go for massif orcal first, on turn 1 kill the starting army and go into channeling stance in the edge of your territory, build a farm and upgrade your barracks to lv2 in your capital, don't recruit anything. On turn 2 take Brionne, recruit 3 peasant bowmen and an additional lord. Turn 3 Grom will have taken Aquitane, go towards the edge of your territory towards Aquitane, recruit 3 men at arms spears with shields, on turn 4 Grom will be recruiting in Aquitaine with only 10-11 units and a beat up garrison and you have 17 units plus a lord. Easy fight, kill him, then go towards Massif Orcal and wipe him out. I have done like 5-6 Fey Enchantress campaigns and this timing attack always works.
I LOVE Fae Enchantress! Her campaign bonuses and starting position are by far superior to any other Bretonnian LL. Unless you're RP running as crusade-Repanse or questing-Alberic, Fae is your best bet for uniting Bretonnia.
In WH2 her campaign was definitely a lot easier, though, and it got progressively harder over time - with the skaven power creep, then introduction of Grom, then the beastmen rework, and now with WH3 something else changed about the game in general that made it actually a lot more challenging. Did you know - before all that, she actually started with a 20-turn mini-event to increase unrest in her provinces so that she had *something* to do? Not only is it gone now, imagine how much harder it would be if that penalty to control was still here. Yikes!
100% accurate on your review. It's rough down there.
I just finished this campaign a couple weeks ago. Morghur is by far the biggest wild card. Sometimes he builds a herd stone, sometimes he doesn't; sometimes he goes to war with Ikit, sometimes he doesn't; sometimes he rushes straight for your territory after Estalia is dead, sometimes he doesn't. Depending on what Morghur does impacts this campaign a lot because he HAS to be dealt with after Grom, as does Ikit right after that. Morghur will often times raid your territory which causes you to take attrition regardless of whether you are in the settlement or not, and if you don't recruit Lords to be your early game killing power your, your peasants are going to take a ton of casualties fighting the Orcs and then Morghur can be in Carcassone's region soon after meaning you can't stop Ikit from jumping over the mountains with his two to three stacks to protect your capitol.
I was doing a fey enchantress campaign last "knight". I moved quickly to get rid of the grom, and found myself still being surrounded by morghur, ikit claw, and the vampires, but I managed to squeak through. Britonnia is one of my favorite factions to play as but God does it take forever to get hippogryph knights.
'Squeak' through? I don't mean to alarm you, but when was the last time you checked your settlement for an undercity?
For anyone wondering, this is the 50th/86 legendary lord reviewed!
Still loving these brief videos doing general reviews of the campaigns, ty.
I enjoyed this campaign when I played it a few months ago, it was challenging the whole way through for me, because as soon as I had gotten rid of Grom, Ikit, and Morgur, and all the vampires, and finally felt like my campaign was rolling the End Game Crisis of Dwarfs hit and I had to deal with them for the rest of my campaign.
Love to see rakarth campaign review. Great videos
I love how these videos are gradually growing in length. I'm thinking that, by the time Legend has finished with all the lords, these videos will be an hour long!
Would love to see a Belegar campaign video. My first go at it I rushed 8 peaks but then got stuck at war with too many factions at once my 2nd go I secured my starting position but then Thorgrim took the 8 Peaks and ive got no clue how to confederate him anytime soon. Im gonna end up finishing short victory without being able to ever afford the top tier units I was looking forward to.
Love these broad overviews, looking forward to the next one whatever lord it is.
Would love to see a Count Noctilus review. I've been trying vampirates and I struggle to figure out how to handle the early campaign (very hard/very hard). Tyrion gets his armies up quickly, and has a large garrison to deal with on top of it. I tried ignoring him to head west once for the valuable ports and gold between Lustria and Naggaroth, but that just got me stuck with more enemies surrounding me, and then Tyrion went to war with me anyway when I couldn't spare any armies to defend. I'm also not sure how to deal with elven archers very well, and phoenixes/eagles love picking off bloated corpses before I can get value out of them (some maps are pretty hard to hide them). Not to mention it feels like the heavily forested maps favor archers heavily compared to firearms.
As Morgiana, get an alliance with Wood Elves as quick as possible. Tree-kin pair great with battle pilgrims and a grail relique as a front line and all of their archer options are better than peasant bowmen. Don't bother with a barracks. Battle Pilgrims are the ideal infantry option for Bretonnia and you can use the other building slot.
Just beware of the madness this alliance can create. In my campaign as Morgiana, I'm fighting against Belegar, Karl Franz and Balthasar Gelt, because they decided to attack the Wood Elves
It makes a fun campaign though
@@nemeo8391 haha it's true. Bretonnia is fun because you can basically be allied with almost anyone because of the diplomatic bonuses, but yeah you kinda have to decide whether you want empire/dwarves or elves because they'll pull you into their drama.
@@coolbeanzbeef Exactly ! And for once I decided to side with the tree huggers, which was a nice change
I had the pleasure to deal with the Emperor's Wrath Steam tank quite early on because of that decision. I never thought it would be such a pain to get rid of it with mainly peasants ahah
I started her campaign after this video - and damn is she strong - Really a lot of helpful tips - By turn 80 i have destroyed all my initial enemies and i am running with treeman and grail units stack - into the belakor's little island.
And brettonnia is the most overpowered race by a long mile.
This sounds like a great campaign to do for your stream later this month
I read the title as the fat enchanteres
The Feet Enchantress.
Would love a Gorok review.:)
another really tough thing to deal with is that skavenblight is pretty much right below carcassone and ikit can go right under the mountains using the underways, able to reach ur capitol in 1 turn pretty much
whereas you have to walk all the waround to get to skavenblight
I agree completely with everything you said. Fay has the best Bretonnian campaign.
Great series - love the short format that gives you quick overview of the campaign and advice on 1st moves.
Can I suggest something though - can you please either include in this or make a quick breakdown on what skills to level on the legendary lords? I always struggle on what to level 1st. For example with Valkia - should I make her good fighter 1st, or go red line?
When I try to find a video on it - there is nothing but 30-40 min videos, that don't really explain it either.
Loving these review vids. Would also very much like to see you revisit the "First XX Turns" style of vids for IE
I LOVE Fae Enchantress! Her campaign is very fun and challeging
Thanks for the video
The French people are pleased
oui
Been my favourite LL ever since I started playing Total Warhammer.
I recently had an amazing start where I got rid of grom, ikit and morghur very fast as they all left themselves in the open, belegar conquered skavenblight after I got ikit and then I sent the fay around to the other bretonian legendary lords and let them kill her before confederating and all of them have her replenishment trait which really helps together with the faction trait
I love you legend
Make it double
Make it homosexual
We* love you legend
Actually imho fay enchantress is somewhat easier now.
Previously grom wasn't there and it was difficult to get rid of the greenskin scourge event (which wastes your time) and even when he was there because bordelaux had a legendary lord he couldn't just immediately go aquitaine so he ended up sitting in massif orcal with a full stack making it harder to take.
And before beastmen rework morghur would kill estalia and go after you like he does already, but ikit-claw was able to occupy estalia and grow stronger now he can't because herdstone, and when you destroy the herdstone you can take estalia (well most of it) since you already are there.
Finally you can now move in encamp stance previously moving and encamping meant attrition (and the rare 1% movement fuckup that prevented you going encamp)
i actually just used the greenskin event to farm XP in warhammer 2, didnt expand at all for 20 turns, just farmed the rebellions until it expired lol.
@@bloodmagiclord8253 wait what? in my experience you get rebellion one, kill it suddenly you have -4 taxes, -20 event, +8 low control, +8 defeated a rebellion, +1 lord got the authoritarian trait, for -7 public order. That means one rebellion every four turns, and thats if you don't get more lords who could get the trait again (also enchantress starts with paladin so+1). Unless you play on legendary or very hard you get too few rebellions. And on those difficulty levels ai gets really big while you sit on two settlements.
@@cathulionetharn5139 yeah I was on legendary. Never had any real problems with the AI being too big, since my characters were much higher level from the xp farm and could just lightning strike. Dealing with Clan Skryre was the only pain.
@@cathulionetharn5139 I forgot about the authoratarian trait actually. I think once I got that I'd go sack massif orcal to end the event.
My thought on the Fey Enchantress are very simple: I’d rather play Ikit Claw !
I cannot STAND cavalry and categorically refuse to have more than one or two units of it per army.
Bretonnia is my personal hell !
But hey, it’s always interesting to hear reviews of a legendary lord that’s always foreign to you !
Cav are difficult to cycle charge with these days because of how the models get stuck and whatnot
Get Repanse rather quickly. While Leoncouer can be somewhat rarely destroyed by combined pressure of Belakor/his playtoys , kemler, Gromm. I rather see Repanse eaten alive by either Arkhan or Settra.
Am I wrong in saying Repanse is usually pretty sturdy, I’ve seen her kinda win southlands rumble more than once
@@logiebear911I can only speak for wh2 on that part. In my experience for wh3 Settra and Arkan have taken the south lands.
For me it was Alberic that got destroyed before I could confederate him. Repanse getting beaten up by Settra and Arkan, can actually be an advantage, because it makes Repanse more willing to confederate. Also, if you are down south beating up Morgur and Ikit it is pretty easy to send a lord down to encounter Repanse real quick.
Nice video as always. *Totally* disagree with 'being aggressive' though, but I guess it depends on what you mean. Vs Grom, yes you should be super aggressive and take him out ASAP. But I had to restart my L/VH campaign after trying to be aggressive after that - I force-marched to the southeast and took out a Skryre fullstack and then sacked Bilbali, the turn after Ikit Claw fullstack + another Skryre fullstack + Morghur fullstack attacked and took out / cornered all my armies. Absolutely not possible. Going to try it again now, and be defensive after Grom is gone.
Legend, congrats on getting CA to provide mortal empires for free. I'm actually planning to buy Warhammer 3 during this weekend's discount. as well as a DLC.
See? It worked!
Dark are these times, and Dark is my mood.
Biggest reason I dont like playing Bretonnia.... I always forget to set vows on newly trained lords and heroes :(
I have a mod that auto completes the vows as you level up. The way the vows are implemented is not fun.
It's another of those campaigns I would like to see you play. One session should be enough; has to be, because there's been too much of a drop off of Bretonnia game viewership to make it worth your while to do another.
After the 3.1 update, the start is quite a bit easier. The Fay Enchantress and her unit of Grail Guardians can duo all of the early fights by themselves, giving you a lot more flexibility early on. You can hand the other units off to a secondary lord and even have the lord squad hang with them instead.
Another great one mate ♥️
Maybe a tip Legend is to explain what a Mortis Engine (effect) is and does for newer players
He follows the termn by saying that if you put her into a blob in melee combat she will do hundreds of kills just by proximity.
@@neruba2173 i know. But a little detail on it would be nice.
I would love to see a playthough of this 😀
I like this one the most out of all of the Bretonnians and play it like a peasant revolt with a mass trebuchets and infantry to protect them, kid of like the dwarves do, but with quantity over quality. Not the strongest, but quite fun.
1:38 hey legend, I saw something a while back that says industry is actually the best economy. Initially farms are definitely better, but mid/late game, after getting all the research for industry, it is better than farms. (Maybe its different in WH3 but WH1&2 industry is better late game)
Which is also quite fun/interesting as your campaign goes on, eventually youll want to have an industrial revolution (changing from farming to industry) which i think is a fun side quest and similar to real life lol
Started a Leon game a few weeks ago. I have to say, belakor was hard to deal with an bretonia vs skaven and beastmen annoyed me so hard.
And I have much struggle with the tactical battles. Normal cav and trashmobs are not easy to handle for my playstyle.
Didn't know how to fight with bretonia easily.
I found the Fay Enchantress to remain the easiest out of the 4 Bret Legendary Lords when compared to WH2 ME. I usually play on VH/VH, so I'll have to give it a whirl on Legendary. Grom is usually so busy taking out other Brets that he's not at home, easy to take his settlements. The threats to the South hadn't posed much of a challenge for me in the 3 or 4 times I ran with Fay on VH/VH in IE so far.
What I found more annoying is Talsyn, how dare he take and hold Bretonnian lands! Waiting to war with him till after the treaty breaking won't affect reliability is annoying too, he often ends up taking a whole bunch more territory in the local areas. I've had some runs where I allied with him and it made it a breeze to fight with him helping towards the South, but he kept nabbing regions that I wanted too. Had to turn around and take him down a peg or five. ;)
The worst foe I faced was this dreaded sea treasures crash bug. I've gone on about it in other posts, but tldr I just seem to often crash when interacting with a Lord on them. Totally random, done many hours of troubleshooting. The official forums seem to show more and more players having the exact same problem, maybe one day CA will fix it. As it stands, anytime I get a crash from this, I stop playing TW:WH 3 for a while.
For some reason I don’t have the problem with Grom, rather I have it with Ikit.
Mainly cause the LL Ai immediately goes for Grom for some reason. Thankful for it, makes it easier, but suddenly Orion decides to declare war on me at random (I had 20+ good diplomacy with them) so that kinda evens the odds.
I play in on Very Hard Campaign and Battle difficulty.
Love ya bro

Boris campaign overview!
You were somewhat wrong though.
Alberic is confederated through tech.
Repance you have to meet and stroke her ego though :P
Turn 5 noctolus sailed over and razed Brione, very fun campaign
She is za sheild that guards the realms of men.....with fine horses. She can drive my Mustang anytime as long as she banishes the gremlins that plague it.
I'd love for you Todo a Fay livestream again
Ah, for za lady
The Vows take time but if you set up the Lords like you say they join in the fun.. A soft Lord in a city alone is great Grom Bait. What goes wrong is the beastmen skaven in Estella then the undead great way to get the vows earn a Paladin vows on the greentide.
Really struggling with this campaign. Wiped out Grom early, only to be besieged by Ikit and Morgher. And whilst I was dealing with those.. I had Belakor attack from the north.. sheesh.
Thanks
nice
Couldnt agree more with this review. Bretonia are such a sack of poo at the moment. Their cav going up against a bunch of orcs wielding potatoes get wrecked. I know CA are looking at reducing the cav unit size and increasing the mass , there's a similar mod going round now and it makes the game so much better
Gor-Rok or The white dwarf next please :)
Hello LegendTW, I do have the same strat regarding the Fae Enchantress for the most part, I didnt consider recruiting extra lords to deal with Graum and other heroes more easily. Do you still think that an army of 4 stack shielded spearmans with 4 stacks of shielded swords man, or any other 50%/50% is bad in the early game since those units have disposable and non-disposable trait and can be used as a meat shield? This allows your spearman to deal with Graums free starting campaign trolls more easily.
I still haven't really played a bretonia campaign. Which is kind of incredibl when you consider i've been playing this game since 2017. Maybe now is the time.
Legend would you recommend taking Fay on foot or unicorn? She wants to be in melee but being large and low mass sucks. On the other hand her spellcasting would be helped by mobility
I personally take the unicorn. It's such a ton of mobility, and I feel that the HP bump at least keeps her on par survivability wise since that mount isn't too big. She's not much more likely to get hit by missiles, and it doesn't open up much space for more infantry to swing at her.
More versatile overall imo.
Wanna see a first 10 or 20 turns guide video on her!
bretonia really need some rework... compared to skaven with all the tools and spells and gadgets and special units and teleporting and plague and lot of other stuff...what you have? supply limit for your units and extremly frustratingly outdated options for vows of your lords and paladins.. you are supposed to be crusader and it takes like 6 turns to globally recruit good stuff....while chaos dlc guys can pull out full stack from air and then with little effort change them into doomstack without even need of any building or wait time....
More 10 turns... More Cheeeseee!
I think CA has a good spread of difficulty in this game. Tyrion's is a pushover, but this is very tough.
Delicious bath water
Fay Enchantress really benefits from getting Gotrek & Felix in the early game
This one is frustrating.. i thought i should head on the beast men straight up, had at least 4 extra knights but still couldnt win (auto resolve said close vic so its probably me butchering cavalry gameplay...)
if you save estalia and destroy monsillion and the orcs very erly, the campaing its more izi because if you donnt do it they destor all the bretonian faction.
I know it isn't optimal but I like to keep 1 peasant mob at all times as a flesh sacrifice.

Sounds like you just suck at the game to be honest. That first battle is incredibly easy.
