I love that you got how sweet and cute the movie was. A lot of people just see the weirdness (which is definitely there) and miss how wholesome it is to embrace the weirdness.
I love this movie. I know it's over the top, but being from the UK, I love seeing this cultural aspect. So cool
To me this movie is much more enjoyable than other more straightforward cringe/awkward comedies because it's so clearly infused with a ton of heart and warmth. I just love the stilted (in a good way) mood of the whole town and it's inhabitants. Kip steals every scene he's in, and there are a bunch of amazing side characters. Uncle Rico is hilarious - and his shirts are mint. Bona fide classic film for me. I think if you were among the "popular kids" back in the day you might not get this film, it's very much for the underdogs. I love it.
I forgot how hilarious this movie was. I remember seeing it in the theater with my Grandpa. He thought it was the stupidest movie ever, but I loved it.
The girl on the bicycle was Uncle Rico's girlfriend returning to. patch things up.

My middle school home room teacher also taught the actor for Napoleon. That was like a decade before me but I can feel her vibe in the movie.
