Just started dating an entrepreneur. Found this super helpful. I do find myself feeling lonely and I need reassurance because I want to be there for him every step of they way while I'm also working hard for my own success. It's just hard sometimes when he's vague about scheduling time with me or doesn't seem concerned about it. I know he cares for me and I also know I also know this is just the pains of the beginnings for him. Your video clarified that for me. Thanks!

You are right on, I have an entrepreneurs mentality. We are very creative and think outside of the box. Many times we get laughed because of an idea we might have, people think it's crazy or won't work. I've had to back off from sharing my thoughts with relatives because they don't understand.

I honestly didn't think I would watch this video because of the title because I am personally not dating an entrepreneur. I am the entrepreneur in my relationship. The things that I learned about myself in this video is absolutely incredible. It's crazy to see that other people think alike. The fact that I zone out and think about things while my wife is talking to me is just spot on. Patrick, thank you so so much for your videos. Super appreciated!

As much as I understand the entrepreneurial mindset, and I really do because I am not a 9 to 5 person either: Once any event is in the calendar with an alarm and on your daily plan, it is your responsibility as an adult, no reminders. Not everyone else is your assistant, especially not your family and partner. They are your support system, but they don't manage your life and they are not your audience either. And your assistant is not supposed to manage your private life, assistants are there to schedule your business life. They help you with your private life as a bonus, and be very thankful for it if they do. If your business constantly becomes more important than the most important people in your life, you don't need them.

Patrick, your relationship content has blown my perspective wide open. I've struggled with this in relationships, not just intimate, where I know and feel I operate differently. At some point, I started to think my mentality was wrong. I'm just wired differently. I love others for their differences from me and I need to keep searching to be loved and respected for who I am.

entrepreneurs are a little all over the place emotionally, they're in it for the long term, time alone is much needed due to high stress, schedule your relationship, they're always thinking and a little in their heads, the business will always be a top priority for them, it will be the business over events especially in the beginning, most talk to other people a lot, they question things, the majority can not understand and entrepreneurial relationship, they have strong opinions, hate laziness, like growing mentally

Everything he said was absolutely threading the needle. Absolutely true. I have ADHD. I get up in the morning, before I turn the water on for the shower, my mind is already racing with ideas. I get off work, spend hours and hours at home studying. My fiance would tell me she feels like the business is taking over and she has to "compete" for my time. I am doing this partly for her. A few years of pain, a lifetime of pleasure. Had we both seen this video and the followup video for this, we would still be together.

  • @Peteristrate
    @Peteristrate 8 лет назад +106

Omg, this is so true, like, literally, every single thing you mentioned..., at least for me.
Many times I questioned myself, is there really something wrong with me ?
    I feel better now : ))
And, indeed, a capitalist cannot stand with a socialist. Many women tend to have socialist leanings, unfortunately, and it might be coming from their protective nature, which I can understand up to a point.
The most awkward moment is when you go on a date with a woman and she starts telling you how communism is a great idea, and why we should increase taxes so people will contribute with their fair share.
When I experience these moments, I want to stand up and leave from the restaurant... : ))
Also, I despise, those who change their plans short notice, after I, damn, had to book time for them in my busy schedule with 2 weeks in advance. They don't realise how much of an effort that is. They think we'll just meet a few hours later or the next day..., just like that. only because they're incapable to manage their time or they don't really know what they want from life as they get easily distracted with other things and let you down. Now, I learned to treat dates like business meetings. I force people to commit to a certain time and date.

Why don't you explain to them why it doesn't work instead of avoiding them as a whole. Saying this because I got into politics in less than a year and I never went full on one side bc I didn't know about either naturally I am more of the Idea of being a democrat but something about the Dems themselves seemed fishy. So I did research and only last week I watched the china video on this channel and later on Friday my brain went on forever and I realized why socialism leads to communism and my views on socialism changed. I already knew communism wasn't good it's fairly obv but also that video showed other ppl see it that way too.

Dating an entrepreneur here. We’re both young and this experience has changed me in so many ways but it definitely isn’t easy. Dating an entrepreneur is like a long term investment. He’s so driven and focused i havent met anyone like him. In some ways his characteristics have rubbed off on me and i understand so much of these points and the wording in this video is amazing. Although i must admit it feels very lonely and your friends and family will most likely not understand you. I try my best to support him in all the ways i know how to because i really believe in him and want to see him succeed. I understand in the beginning of their business they are spending a lot of time and energy dedicated to it but it really seems at times that im not even a priority and it makes me feel unwanted. I’m want to make it work but is it worth it if it feels like im the only one trying?… any advice for this?

I agree with 99,9% of what you say in your videos, but being an entrepreneur at the beginning, it's about money 10 out of 10, it's about financial freedom then, after you secure yourself and you are comfortable with the business and the money that you make then it's about wanting more, creating, being the best ta ta ta. :)

  • @dtub10

This is SO SO TRUE! My mind is always churning! I'm a real estate investor and I'm a young guy so when I come across women they want dates but I'd rather be thinking of marketing methods for my business. I don't have a kid but I feel like my business IS my baby. I don't wanna make time for shit else BUT my business, not even make time for me! And they always want me to be available for their 9-5 lifestyle but when they call, text or FaceTime call me I'm ALWAYS with my face in my laptop working. I LOVE being wired this way lol. It's a blessing for me but a curse for everyone else. I rather be alone and happy than force myself to be with someone and not be free to be the entrepreneur I truly am!

I have been dating my current boyfriend for 9 months. Never been with an entrepreneur. He's a real estate broker/investor and flips homes. He is just like you. Me being that I've never dated a man wired like him in the begining I felt extremely neglected bc he is never in the present and seemed off. I also did understand that he's a man on a mission and his passion kept me patient. I just needed to learn that his hiis constant withdrawing and his distance made me want to understand his mind more. So I just started reading a bunch of books and even ran across this video lol. Being in a relationship with a entrepreneur is not for every woman but I am adaptable and he challenges me to be a better woman as well. I've ready learned so much from him that now I respect him more as the time progresses!

I would have been better off with an Entrepreneur. I am from a 4th generation family of them --even my brother has his own business and I have had several. I married a man who was not that and he could not understand the mindset. I tried and after 15 years we divorced. We had no children thank God for that. It is true that one must understand the mindset and character of a person building their business....it can be very exciting.

    Pat,
    I AM YOUR BIGGEST FAN!
GREAT video! I have turned on at least 500 people to your channel!
This video in particular struck a chord. I always thought that I was "weird", and that I was not desirable as a woman, because I was always in a "man's" role, as an entrepreneur. When you are an entrepreneurial woman, it's SSSSOOOO MUCH harder to find that special man, because you have to display so many masculine traits in the business world. This can be very unflattering, and frankly a big turn off to most men. Like 9.9% of all men can't stand women who run their own companies, make a lot of money, and are confident in themselves.
I always ended up with men who were broke, needy, and very feminine.
This is why I was always alone for years and years.
Even when I was with a man, he was always wondering why I was always in the spotlight, and not him. You nailed it right on the head in this video. Bravo!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
It wasn't until recently that I found a similar "entrepreneur" but I had to really hide my "masculine" nature around him to get him to marry me!
But he is the right one. Finally. It took 48 years to find him.
What type of advice would you give a woman, who is in a man's world?
I am very curious, what you have to say. I have heard the opinions of others, but since I consider you my new mentor, I am absolutely extremely curious as to what you have to say.
I truly enjoy all your videos! They kick me in the ass every day! I cannot go one day without watching you! Keep them coming!-Your biggest fan, Edie, the Salsa FREAK!!

This is the best thing I've seen. I'm 27 years old. Been driven by my passion for the past several years... explanation of this to past girlfriends has been non-existent... simply unable to find words to explain my "affliction" of living a passion and making a living from it. I have never had more fire for what I do than I do now. Like many many others, I have questioned my "sanity"... I now see that the "ups, downs, and erratic emotions" are a product of our unique genius for whatever we all are going for. I remember being called bipolar several....hundred...times. I chuckle at it now. I know what I am going for has ultimate sustainability, and its up to me. No one will stop me. Hats of to you, sir, for developing such an "on-point" video describing our unique selves.

Patrick in past I tried to share the knowledge of the reason of my way of life or my way of thinking by suggesting him some books ('Rich dad Poor dad' & 'Think & grow rich') but he procrastinated to read that because of his addiction to distraction (Tv & other stuffs), patrick I think I did my part to make him understand humbly but he didn't executed on it

But in my opinion its simply being goal oriented..I swear, entrepreneurs have the best regimins are pretty predictable. After seeing this is opened my mind to alot.. and therefore I believe that I can handle it. I think communication plays such a huge part in it. Business life are lonely when we are crimping the road to success and seeing our selves on the top of the tallest mountain, and on the way there we all need companion to give us supports while we are trying to get there. I have had really bad relationships in the past which affected my trust in men but with this one I am trying be fair and not bring my past insecurities and project on him.
He has been very patient with me trying to show me his world of entrepreneurs by explaining to me in details of his everyday life as an entrepreneur.. I appreciate him doing this but at times find myself slipping into depression b’coz this is all new to me but am determined to support him..

I thought I might share this.
This may not be related to "someone interested in dating an Entrepreneur" but still in the category of relationship and dating.
As a single entrepreneur myself, I find it very hard to be actively looking for a relationship with a woman and the reason is because i'm so focus on how to create a business that generate revenue to that point where my business is more interesting than the woman. Usually the woman doesn't create enough interests to steal my attentions...beside their stunning look of course, which is most of the case. I have always thought that it is hard to find a woman that's an entrepreneur themselves because they are too...as well caught up in their own ideas where I wouldn't be interesting enough to grab their attention.
Because of those reasons... my parents or relative will always ask "Do you have a gf yet? Why not? Why aren't you looking? Are you gay?" lol i'm serious, my mom actually thought I was gay because I was always with my business partner testing out new ideas. I am curious if there are people like this too.
Now i'm very interested in woman and I have always want one where we can build a business and live a dream together. But through out my life, they seem to be a rare breed to find. My questions to you and the rest of the readers would be this.
If you are to actively look to get into a relationship with a woman or man who's an entrepreneur, where would you look and how would you grab their attentions? Or would it be just... "go with the flow and you'll find the right one."
    Thanks.

BboyApacheEntertainment Thank you for sharing that, it is really interesting! I'm not an enterpreneur, I will be, well, at least something like it. I'm still researching and clearing up the ideas in my head. Anyways...
I feel like MY problem to find a guy would be non other than me being set on a combo of things I just can't get over, lol, things that in it of themselves aren't a big deal, but I wonder if I'll ever find a combination of ALL in one person. Of course, I might change my mind on some, but... idk.
I want to have this deep relationship with someone, this intimate, inlove, best friend kind of thing, this person beside you you enjoy, enjoy supporting in their passions, their failiours, ect., so even if I get caught up in my work I know I'll notice the people who have the potential to build that with me. At least I think so... I guess I can't know for sure. But since it's a legit desire that I have I think I'm prone to seeing the potential for it even if I'm not actively pursuing it. Which is the case right now.
I love talking to people, I love getting to know them and, as you can conclude from my reply here as well, I like sharing - I don't mind and even like sharing types of things that others seem to find too private to share so quickly. I like discussing all kinds of things, I like talking about relationships whether they'd be romantic, frienships or other types, I like talkig about life's choices, major views, little habits and quircks - I'm just like that, I enjoy that. And that reeeeally makes me feel like I'll somehow naturally find a person I click with, lol.
I can already imagine meeting a random person at a mutual friend's birthday party I almost didn't go to and hitting it off about something we have in common just because I talk so much that I hit the nail on the head with this ONE thing I over-shared, or started talkig about even though it had little to no relation to the coversation going on previously. It's happened, but only in a platonic way so far, haha.
My point here is 1. I wanted to share all this so I did, haha and 2. being very open, up-front and talkative lets you (unexpectedly) bond with people. It has worked for me in terms of friendship, to me that means it could for a future partnership as well. So, that's my tip for you to simply consider - oversharing. Just kidding, I mean being open and talkative and all. :D
I'm no expert though, so please just treat this as food for thought. And last but not least - ask Pat how he met and hit it off with Jen - he's a "crazy" enterpreneur all caught up in it and he found her and has been building a family with her! :)
I apologize if my reply is chaotic, I hope it's understandable and it helps you in some way. Wish you all the best. :)

I truly love what you do and all of your videos! It's this one thing that I am not convinced and don't agree on. Even if they are wired like this, you can do something about it... making boundaries for yourself. We can tell that they are like this and I know a bunch of entrepreneurs who are like this. Constantly thinking. In fact, I am like this. When something comes to my mind I feel like I want to add it immediately to my career and I am on my phone for a long time. But making that boundary, that when I am with my loved one, I will only only do that for max 20-30 sec, writing down the main idea only, not the entire concept in propositions, is something else. If it happens too many times, you can also make something about it. It is self awareness. Plus the communication with your partner, you have to let her know that sometimes this will happen, but you are working on it, just like you said.
    Love your work!

absolutely. I didn't have a mentor in my growing up years. and I REALLY wish I did. my father is a long distance truck driver, has been for many many years. most of my growing up time. But he also had a very Mennonite mindset. that means you just have to work very hard at a job, do overtime when possible, don't invest your money in this and this and that. it really, REALLY sucked growing up. I wanted so much more and all my dreams were crushed by this bs mindset. now, it's very difficult to change. I don't like it, but this is how it is. I'm trying, and it's definitely not easy. But I'm working on it.

Alvin Dueck I get what you mean that the mindset you grew up receiving from your parents has influenced you and it's hard to change. (If I understand you correctly.) I'm going through something similar, which actually I think is mostly my own fault, cause it wasn't so much my parent's mindset, but their situation and how they HAD to deal with it that somehow shaped in me a model of thinking and for some reason I thought that everything that's different than that model is just not for me. With no reason at all, just automatically - I really didn't even realize I was thinking that way!
One proof of that is simply how long I was thinking about finding an already excisting job/profession, a position to be *hired* in when I was thinking about my work future. I was so frustrated! That's one example.

Maybe only entrepreneurs listen to this. And when they present this to the one they are dating isn't an entrepreneur. They dont completely understand or listen.
I thought this was extremely great and on point because it fits perfectly but the 9-5 person can hear it but and understand the complexity of our minds.
Sometimes I wish I had a simple mind because they look so complete with what they have, driving their simple little cars living a simple little life.

It's hard to date a businesswoman especially if she had a child or children cause she has to work and take care of the child or children and they don't have free time. A woman I like she cancelled on me twice cause she had something come up at the last minute. Now I just want to be friends with her now, cause now I'm in stock market and own ETFs so I'm looking after my investments, studying books on finances, and the own free time I have is on the weekend and holidays which I don't celebrate anyway. It's hard to be with someone who always busy and working.

As a women entrepreneur when dating, it seems men can't handle my independent/free spirit mindset. They want to try and control me by using jealousy or just undermining my needs.
    They want "dominance."
Many times they are just trying to make me feel less than because of their own insecurities. It doesn't matter if they are an employee or if they own a million dollar business!! THEY DON'T FEEL SECURE. So in turn they try to dim my light....BUT little did they know it actually adds fuel to my fire. They actually makes me even stronger! hahaha
I honestly don't know how to find a strong confident man. I don't conform to intimate "relationship" stigma. Its wayyy over thought these days. Its just a best friendship with a dose of sexual tension. He should do his thing and i should be able to do mine respectfully. And at the end of they day come together without the bull shit. Full openness of the good and the bad. Male and females are different..but are meant to compliment one another. They balance each other out. So people need to quit whatever it is they are doing that sets the dynamic off balance.
I guess the relationship my creative mind envisions is not "normal" these days. I'm looking for my male unicorn. So to all the "men" trying to keep me capped for your own shortcomings-step out the way.
    I don't stop and wont stop😜
    xoxo
IBUT little do they know, it only adds fuel to my fire and i become even stronger! ; )

A woman leaving an entrepreneur can be so liberating at times. Kinda why a lot of entrepreneurs stay single because its unfair to their partner to spend so much time away from each other because the entrepreneur is building and creating 16 hours a day, sometimes even in his sleep while dreaming, hence why some walk up in the middle of the night with an idea. We naturally have insomnia and when we crash, we pass out for half the day but its worth it. The world is our play ground, its like kids with so much energy, they can play all day, all night. We don't even see weekends as weekends. We see weekends as the slow days of the week and we cant wait for Monday to show up. Weekends are for anyone and everyone else, not for entrepreneurs. You can't turn it off. It is what it is!

    Financial motive must prevail .
When your running your own business .
You seem bipolar to other folks .
Only your keeping several plates spinning , sometimes a plate loses momentum and shatters to pieces .
Then the others stay going .
You have octinal amount of things on your mind at once .
So when you get asked a question and people can’t under stand you or your current mind state .
That’s only for the fact , you can’t always give others your full attention when they expect an answer .
Nothing to do with being bipolar 😂

I dated a successful entrepreneur for several years, but the downside for me was his inability to take a vacation or any time off. He hadn't taken a vacation in almost 10 years. And on top of that, he didn't want me to go on vacation without him. That didn't work for me. I have generous vacation leave from my 9-5, and I love to travel.

Hey Pat, thanks as always for this amazing video! I'm actually living with an entrepreneur and I couldn't wish for better. He is the best I can dream of (yes, even if sometimes it's very challenging). I can feel what you're talking about. All of these weird things are part of my partner, and probably it's why I like him so much. I truly support him and I think we are gonna have a lot of happiness in front of us...:) My only "frustration" is not to grow as he's growing financially wise. I'm not having, as a woman, the same success that he is having and even if I'm very proud of him and I'm really his first fan, I really, really want to be pair with him regarding this. I'd like to watch more videos from your wife and other biz women ;) Thanks again for what you are teaching us.

Since you are with an entrepreneur, why don't you take advantage of it and make him your mentor??? If he grows, you should grow as well to become a power couple building an empire.

Mr Patrick, I’m a 26 year old insurance broker. Been watching you since you had 300k subs. I went from $18k to $125k then brought my wife on as my secretary. Year to date I’m already at $220k. So needless to say I’m a lot busier than I was when she came on. During what I consider to be work day 7:30/8am to 6/6:30pm my wife loves to come into my office and chat or call me and chat. I get very little down time and when I do I want to just sit there and not talk to anyone. Today I tried telling her the little chitchat stuff needs to stop during the work day. She’s normally very supportive and lets me do whatever I think will further the business, so our lives I want but with this I can tell it offends her. Like I don’t want to talk to her or I don’t care. Im a Marine, my father (also a marine) who went and got it in his own field raised me to be very direct while working and get to the point. Work is work, play is play. Idk if I’m approaching this correctly. She goes along with anything I think will help the business, so our lives but with this I seem to be hitting a soft spot. Any advice?

Entrepreneurs are all curious, things fascinate them or even turn them off completely. Their spouse would need to be patient and allow them to be sometimes.
