It could be not only the gasket but also a shaft oilseal inside this ballacer shaft gear case. Unfortunately you cannot disasemble it as there is no screw to to remove the belt pulley.
This video was very useful I am an auto mechanic I see what Honda did the rear counter balance shaft Honda put reduced gear so you have to be very carful to re-install the same place you have to put that 6mm long bolt trough the rear hole and the pully notch has to aligned with the body mark absolutely unlike the front balance shaft which has one place only notch to notch. I'm just working on one of this at the shop 2002 Accord 4 cyl. timing belt water pump tensioner adjust the valve ect. .
my oil pump is leaking out the balance shaft seal. I already have it apart but how do i get to the balance shaft seal behind the gear ? How to get the gear off the oil pump to replace the balance shaft seal ?
Front balance shaft or rear? This video is about the rear balance shaft. If your leak is coming from the front balance shaft you need to pull the seal out using either a screwdriver, a special tool, or improvise. You may try to poke a hole in the body of the seal and screw a little screw in it and then pull the screw along with the seal. Either way be careful and do not damage the lip where the seal seats. I hope this helps.
Any gasket or o-ring will get flattenned out as it is squeezed down or compressed and will harden over time. Even if it is flat it will maintain the seal. The problem is when they get hard and crack then they leak.
That is correct, but that gasket was only 2 years old (20,000 miles). However I am still not sure if it failed or if the leak was coming from the oil pan seal.
At 0:18 you can clearly see that it is green coolant dripping down - not oil. Most likely coming out the weep hole in the water pump from a bad internal seal. Just change the water pump.
I am having weird things with this Honda. Sometimes the brand new seals still leak after replacing. What I do now is I coat them all, even the new ones, with a thin coat of RTV. It works. Good luck.
@@pablosilerio-romero2029 Yeah, I'm pretty sure it is the balance shaft seal; however, you need to press the balance shaft out and buy a new o ring. Balance shaft cover Assy costs around 500 dollars. Either that or you go to the junk yard and pull one out. The o ring costs 10 bucks at O rellys.
Hello Friend. I'm in Brazil and I have a Honda Accord 95 when I disassembled my engine I noticed that the balancing shafts and their bushings are very worn, do you know what is possible to do? Sorry I'm using google translator.
Cotick Somick so I completely took the shaft out not noting I’m which direction it goes or anything. I did it by accident. So now that it’s going back together I’m not sure how to put the case gear back on . Right now the shaft is free spinning with no gear on it once I put the gear on how do I line it up to install the outer case gear and mate it up correctly ?
@@johnnyninetytwo I have done it a while ago. But if I remember it correctly the rear balance shaft should be locked in place and the marks on the gear assembly should be moved as in the video. Good luck, Sam

Agree. In my case there is no leak after I replaced the gasket and coated it the RTV.

So my question is I pulled out the shaft by accident , what do I do now

I replaced it but it still leaks

Was it the balance shaft seal?

I am sorry I have never gone that far in the engine disassembly.
@@cotick No problem, thanks.
Is there any specific timing that we need to put it in when we take it out or put it back in ?
When you remove the balance shaft assembly from the engine it will freely spin. So follow the marks for the assembly.

What happens when you spin them ? And the outside
Did that fix it? Or was it a leak between the oil pump and the block?
I believe that the leak was coming from the oil pan and the block seal. I did reseal it.
Make Mode Year in title sure would be helpful!!
Thank you for your remark. I have edited the title as well as the description. This is four cylinder 1999 Honda Accord.
Regards,
Is there a part number for this seal??
