+Liz Rivas I got it from ebay, but be aware there are two type of distributor and mine is fron Hitachi. www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-KOK-Honda-Accord-HITACHI-Distributor-Shaft-Seal-3286-12-45-X-22-X-6-1995-97-/171817599578?hash=item280120825a&vxp=mtr
I am sorry I missed your question. I do not think you still need it since you posted it seven month ago but in case somebody else needs it, it is: Kotek # OS-3286 (12.45X22X6) Rotation clockwise
To all don't bang on the pin it can work after hours an hours however just buy a chain breaker for motorcycle chains an within a a few mins that pin pops out easy breezy...
Thanks so much for this tip. I have been dreading having to take out this pin and searching youtube for tips. Going to buy a good quality chain breaker now.
Thanks for the video! Despite long time working around cars, I am paranoid pressing the pin out and just getting good used distributor housing from the junk yard.
I finally got that pin out, the seals in everything working great. Thanks to my neighboor who put it a big vise with soft brase covers, and his 2 lb hammer, my set of punches. I got the pin started moving last night hammering for like 2 hours, not much. Yet clamped in the big vise, with the big hammer, 10-15 minutes, Then seals in and I used the vise to '' press'' the pin back into the shaft-- easy. Then a few hits to make the pin flush..Presto'''.... 10 bucks for the seals at red auto rehab. They've got a store in Ebay. and it's easy.
Bad news! Start with something, like a short piece of nail or screw, that has a smaller diameter than the pin. Make this piece short so it will not bend. Try penetrating oil. Good luck
The removal is quite simple: unscrew three 12 mm bolts and the distributor is out. One of the bolts is in the back of the distributor and cannot be taped anyway. However the installation is a bit tricky. It goes in only one way. If the distributor does not go in all the way you need to stop and rotate the shaft 180 degrees. I hope this helps.
The engine code is F23A4. I do not have the car here anymore. My daughter is driving it now. As far as I remember if you look in the FSM it will give you the exact distributor model. Just look for F23A4.
Mine will not come out I've tried banging on it with the pin and hammer but it will not budge I even tried your idea by using the vise to press it out but it won't budge any ideas.
I have tried hammering it too and it did not move. A short pin should work. They pressed it in somehow. So it should come out. Try to use some heat maybe.
after hours of banging on it, it finally started moving, but i had been hitting it so hard the backing on the distributor started to break and fall apart!! i needed a new one anyways. but yes it is possible to remove the pin. it just takes ALOT !!! ALOT!! OF effort
If it leaks externally it is easy to fix. A two dollar o-ring from the dealer will do it. You can see this ring @2:52. If it leaks internally you will have to go through the process outlined in this video. Good luck, Sam
No I do not think so. If I can fix something I rather do. I spent few dollars for a replacement seal and the car keeps going. This is not only because I want to save money. Less stuff goes out to trash. More room for us, the humans, to live. Buy a new part here, buy a new part there. It will soon become cheaper to buy a new car. To each is own. I do realize that people are different and some people prefer it this way but not me.
@@cotick this is an old comment but I wanted to say, you are a good man. I wish more people think like you. I wish you a long and healthy life and hope others will follow your example.
Im at hour 3 of banging away at the pin, it hasnt move at all. I dont want to go out and buy a vise that costs twice as much as a new distributor. So I might as well just buy a new distributor :\.
Broke 3 punches in the process but eventually got it out. Well worth the savings of labor or a new distributor. Thanks!
Thank you so much for this video, I was told at Honda that they do not sell the shaft seal but from your video I got the name and maker. Big thanks
Hi, this is a cool video, can you please tell me model number of the seal please? Am planning to the same job on my car....

I am glad it helped you.

This is the main reason I do the videos. We all share our experiences and it helps us all.

I use a motorcycle chain splitter from Harbor Frieght
Thank you for nice video. Unfortunately not able to take out pin.

Great video. Congratulations! Can you tell me what's the engine code of your accord? Also, do you know the model of that distributor?

That was why I resorted to a steady pressure. If it is just stuck the hard shock may move it otherwise steady pressure works better.
I can get the pin out to save my life 🤦♂️
Is this the distributor housing? Im having an oil leak problem here :/ and i just order the part

hmm... all this done do you think it would be easier just to buy a new distributor and cap?

One of the viewers recommended a bike chain separator. Try this first.
And good luck to you.
Is this a Hitachi distributor?
