Ok so the U.S. national team can tie against a full French national team but they can’t beat Trinidad and Tobago to get into the World Cup

Nice effort and some good moments. Don't read too much into this, though. It's a friendly against a distracted French side playing conservatively as a glorified training ground exercise and focused on getting through this match without any stupid injuries right before the World Cup.

2018 World cup would tell a different story
This was Dave Sarachan's stint as interim coach after JK was fired and before Berhalter took over. Notice that though Dave Sarachan didn't hate the MLS, he was not stupid enough to field pro MLS teams and thus got way better results than Berhalter because of it. Makes you wonder why in the F was Dave Sarachan snubbed even after he admitted publicly that he wanted the job. He got way better results against way tougher competition in hostile environments away from home like in this game against the eventual World Champions France! Results that could have been built upon. Now, the USMNT has regressed by years thanks to a POS coach trying to promote the mediocre MLS.
Mr. hrfister I’ve asked myself the same questions. Under Sarachan the US team did better than right now. He even debuted players like Tim Weah, Weston Mckennie and Josh Sargent who was still a High School kid without even playing a professional match.
@@Javier23gol It's obvious that they are trying to promote the MLS for financial reasons. The problem with the MLS is that its best players ARE NOT American. The best American players don't play there, they play in Europe. Also, notice how CONCACAF moved the goal post (no pun intended) by making it easier for USA and Mexico to qualify to the world cup. You think this was just a coincidence? Whatever! They lost a lot of money with USA not qualifying for Russia 2018 and almost lost probably a higher amount of money when Mexico almost missed Brasil 2014 by a razor thin margin. I'm sure that representatives from the MLS, from USSoccer, from LigaMX, from the Mexico Soccer Federation, and from CONCACAF all met in secret behind closed doors to plan a guaranteed money making plan by lowering the standards and favoring USA and Mexico. Oh, and don't forget FIFA because I'm sure they could have stopped this new mediocre qualification criteria, but they didn't. They want to get their cut too. This stinks to high heaven!
You’re talking nonsense. France completely dominated, and the USMNT were lucky to escape with a 1-1 tie. If they played against each other now, the time of possession would be more even, and we would have a lot more shots, and look way more dangerous. The results would be anyones guess, but of course France would be favored.

Dave Sarachan was doing an excellent job with our youth at the time and was smart enough to field players that belonged on the USMNT, not just because he wanted more MLS players on the team like the current coach we have.

This was after they missed the World Cup. This was Dave Sarachan's underrated stint as interim coach. If you look back, Dave Sarachan fielded great teams with the best players that USA had. Unlike Berhalter, he wasn't stupid enough to try and promote the mediocre MLS and thus got way better results against way better teams because of it. Have you not noticed by now that Berhalter is fielding mediocre pro MLS teams that suck ass?

I know we got a "result," but I would have preferred a bit more optimism in the formation. We didn't just park the bus, we put a boot on it too. I suppose this was good preparation for France and what they will likely see from Australia, and that it might have been talked about between coaches beforehand, as is often the case in this situation, but it was painful to watch. It was hard to really make too many assessments, other than that Steffen was pretty solid.

Soccer and maybe the winter Olympics are our only difficulties I can think of. But aside from that we have many well known athletes that I am sure you've heard of. Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Michael Phelps, Dan Marino, Shaquille O'Neal, the list goes on. Might I add these are world renown players. What does Argentina have? Messi. That is pretty much it.
