    I’m going to get surgery soon and I’m very excited about the height gain since it’s the only thing that’s keeping me motivated. I have a 50 degree thoracic and 30 degree lumbar curve, do you think i can gain 4 cm maximum? my spine is very flexible as i just turned 18. Thanks :)

    I might get the surgery done next year. I have a 48° thoracic curve but it might worsen by the time I get the surgery done. Would I be able to workout after being fully recovered? Also, how much height would I gain?

    • @TheSpinePro
      @TheSpinePro  Год назад +1

      I would only get the surgery done if your curve is progressing or if it’s painful. Many patients have been able to get back to full activity after having their thoracic curved fused. Of course, there are always exceptions but vast majority are very happy. And depending on stiffness you should get at least one inch in height

    Can a small curve cause severe pain in adults? I have had scoliosis since I was little, now at 28 I’m having severe back pain upon waking up every morning, my curve is to the left at 15 degrees when it was checked 2 years ago, not sure of the degree now.

      It's best to get repeat scoliosis xrays and also get MRI of L spine to further evaluate. Please feel free to email info@thespinepro.com or call us 424-21-SPINE

    Hello, may I know if my understanding is correct - does it mean that Kyle had VBT/tethering first but still progressed? then had undergone fusion when he grew up?

    Hi, I’m 23 and I am a bodybuilder. I habe had scoliosis since I was a teenager and I think my curve is around 46 degrees on the top and 20 degrees on the bottom of my spine. I want to get surgery around age 26 after I graduate and want to know if that age is ok to get a surgery?

      Dr. Melamed - can you do a video on thoracic bone spurs treatment and surgery ??? Seems like many people have bone spurs in that area and causing them radiating pain to the ribs and around to the front of chest . Lots of people on Facebook group called Thoracic pain talk about hurting and seems like many have had surgery . Thx . Always look forward to your videos

    He can't grow anymore so he can't catch you in height, you fused his plates

  • @escapelina

    Well, a spinal fusion surgery comes with many downsides. It's a major, invasive surgery with really difficult recovery period. Loss of mobility is a big issue after that. The deformed vertebrae are fused together in one solid bone! Then you are like a pen for the rest of your life, which is something to consider before doing this to yourself.
    I am also with surgical levels curves, but I will exhaust any other conservative proactive treatment options and only if it is absolutely impossible to avoid, I would undergo spinal fusion.
    Make your research and don't buy into such oversimplified and sugar-coated versions of a much darker reality

    • @TheSpinePro
      @TheSpinePro  Год назад +1

      There’s nothing oversimplifying or sugarcoated. Any spine surgery specially Spinal Deformity surgery is very very serious. Any spine surgery should be the last resort. 90% of patients who have spinal deformity or scoliosis do not need surgery. But those that absolutely require the surgery, when it’s done by an experienced surgeon with a good surgical team where everything is planned properly and executed to near perfection, patients are extremely satisfied and they report that they would do the operation again because how much it improve their life.
      There’s no question that you loose mobility, but the satisfaction of getting rid of the majority of your pain and saving your organs is worth the trade-off for many patients. Most patients are actually able to do biking, hiking, swimming, low impact aerobics, Pilates, yoga, and weight training after the operation

    My name is Angelina, and I am an 18-year-old working student. I am writing to you today with a heartfelt plea for help regarding my medical condition.
    Several years ago, I was diagnosed with dextro-levoscoliosis 44° & 48°, a condition that has caused my spine to curve, leading to significant physical discomfort and limitations in my daily life. As time has passed, my condition has worsened, and my doctors have recommended scoliosis surgery as the best course of action to prevent further complications and improve my quality of life.
    Unfortunately, my family and I are facing severe financial constraints, making it impossible for me to afford the necessary surgery on my own. As a working student, I have been doing my best to contribute to our household and support my mother, who has a mental disability and relies on my care. However, the costs of the surgery and ongoing medical care are overwhelming, leaving us in a desperate situation.
    I am reaching out to you, not only as a last resort but also with the hope that your kindnessg and generosity may extend a helping hand to someone in need. Your support, no matter how big or small, would make an enormous difference in my life, allowing me to undergo the scoliosis surgery and regain my health and mobility.
    If you find it in your heart to assist me in this journey, any financial contribution or resources you can offer will be sincerely appreciated. Additionally, if you know of any organizations or charities that could provide aid to individuals in my situation, I would be grateful for any information you can share.
    Thank you for taking the time to read my message and considering my request for help. Your support would not only impact my life but also the lives of my family members, as it would relieve the burden on them and ensure I can continue caring for my mother while focusing on my recovery.
    If you require any further information or have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at 09455865621 or angelinabarnido0125@gmail. Om. I am more than willing to provide any necessary documentation or additional details.
    Once again, thank you for your compassion and understanding. I hope that, with your assistance, I can overcome this obstacle and look forward to a brighter and healthier future.
    Warm regards,
    Angelina Salazar Barnido
