- Here is a beginner bird training tutorial on how to target train your bird! This training tutorial is super easy and it's a trick that your bird should be able to pick up right away! Target training your bird is one of the very first things/tricks that you can teach your bird because you can also use it to help you teach your bird other tricks like how to teach your bird to step up or how to teach your bird to spin!

Thank you for mentioning that the clicker is optional. My parrotlet is terrified of both the stick AND the clicker, and every video I watched on clicker training insisted that I touch the bird with the stick and then click. So I would finally get him to start to get over his fear of the stick, and then *CLICK*, he would go into a massive panic at being “rewarded” 😟 by the sound of a click that he hated. I started to realize that I was punishing him for doing what I asked because he hated the click noise so much. I didn’t see why so many bird RUclipsrs insisted on both the stick AND the clicker when it freaked my bird out so much, and felt hopeless. Now I just say “Good job!” or “Good boy” or make a clicking sound with me tongue (plus the treat,) and he gets that this means he did it right. So I really appreciate that you have said it’s optional, because too many people have made it seem like it’s necessary, and it really isn’t and terrifies some birds. Thank you!
Update?
Do you have those loud clickers? On a video i heard, you might have loud clickers and you can buy a softer sounding one.
I honestly don't know how you only have over five hundred subscribers! Your videos are so useful! I really hope people start discovering your channel!

I just adopted my cockatiel 'pikachu', hes hand fed and was an instant bond the moment we got to my room and started the bonding. It was an instant click that ill take care of my partner for years to come. hes only 9weeks old and hopefully i can proceed with the training.

What kind do treats do you use?
Could you tell me how to train my hummingbirds to do jazz hands?

Thank uuu I’ve been looking at other videos on how to target train my budgie but this is the only one that’s really helpful because my budgie will not do it to save his life
Did you paint the one with the cat? It's really good. I like the style
So helpful thank you! My cockatiel picked it up very quickly❤
What are you using as a treat? Thanks

Great video good on ya, I'll try it now, good thing is I have lots of chopsticks at home.
Would love a video on how to get birds back in their cage💜
Well once you get the bird to trust u and go out of the cage onto u,you pretty much just put them on your finger and put it in the cage
Please answer my question
Can I target train my budgies with my finger instead of a chopstick or a stick?
I am not a bird expert but I'd say it wouldn't hurt to try
I ish your 990 sub 'v' Also thanks
How do I target train if my bird won't take treats from me?
what sort of treats do you use for your parrot to reward them? mine can be extremely picky, i have a budgie and a ringneck - would some small grape sliced into quarters or such work??
What if your bird bites the side of your finger that is holding the treat instead of just taking the treat? How do I get him to take the treat? Also, where do I get the safflower seeds? Are they organic? Where do you order them from? Thanks for your help!
Hiya can you do a video on target training an aggressive bird ,my alexandrine takes treats off me but he goes to bite me a lot and doesn't like to leave his cage or gym .....thanks 🙂
Has it gotten any better since then?
Hello, I love your videos, they are very helpful. I was wondering what are some kinds of treats would be good for training? I’m having a hard time finding treats that motivate her
Thank you so much for your help! Love your relationship with your birds and I do hope to have the same bond with mine.
What if my birds are scared of my hand so I can’t give the treat?
My parrot's did to omg
Where can I get a part
what's a clicker please?
What seeds do you use as a reward for your bird?
Hi
May i know what seeds u using? The white seed...
Sunflower seed probably
Your videos are so helpful! We have a new GC. He is about 6 months old. He has adapted to our family of 3 very well. The only problem is, he’s a little obsessed with me. Instead of being interested in the stick or the treat, he only tries to get to my shoulder. Any way to try to get him to pay attention to something other than cuddling with me, lol? (This is really the only time he bites, too. He will bite my husband/son if I place him on their shoulders. If I’m not in the room, he’s very sweet and affectionate towards them).
I’m having a similar issue, my bird is only interested in getting to me neck and nuzzling up.
i have a training question! my conure always flies to my shoulder, never flies to my hand. how do i fix this? would i have to start back with target training?
When should you actually start training.. I just got a pinnaple conure and he/she is only 35days old today.. So when should I start??
Hey I got a conure (2 months old) he comes to me for food we pretty much bonded, but I don't know when to start teaching him to step up and target and all that, what should I expect from him at the time?
Does it matter how old my bird is to start training? I've had him for 5days He is 3months
Any bird can be tamed but I should say that older birds are harder to train than younger ones. 3 months is pretty young so there is no problem in training it.
So, my bird got over the fear of seeing the stick, thanks to your video. But for some reasons, he doesn’t reach for the stick. What should I do?
my bird touches the target stick but doesn't want to eat the treat bc he doesn't trust me yet
What treats do you use?
Mine touches it but wants to bite the stick really hard 🤷♀️ he bites all the time and won't step up on fingers but on a stick
Problem is, my bird grabs on the stick and DOESN’t let go and it’s hard to make him let go
Lol my bird just bites the stick
My bird is scared of everything execpt my hand.(He just want bite it)
my bird wants to climb and chew the stick…any tips?
ok I never actually trained my bird/parrot because he dose not like coming outside but thank you for such an amazing tutorial
I have been teaching my bird how to jump from his steps
whats the point to do this training ?
Can you do something on potty training?
How are the birds
What do you feed you bird?
Its my first time having parrot as a pet i don't know what to do he's nice but i think he's afraid of my hand he won't let me pet him or touch him but he doesn't mind when i kiss him or touch him through my face can someone guide me how can i train him to let me touch him or pet him plzzz 😭😢
All my bird does is fly away and doesn't listen I'm trying to be patient but it's hard and he won't take the treat no matter where i put it
What are you using as a threat?
Plz talking to hindi
