Also to add! I have a GCC and he's trained to poop only on his stand or cage! He still has the odd accident but he's REALLY good about it. The way I did it was time how long between poops when he's put with me. Then the next day I started putting him on the stand, saying go poop, and waiting. When he pooped I would instantly reward him by bringing him back onto my shoulder now it's been over a year. He flies to his perch or cage to poop then flies back over! It just takes a bit of paitence and rewarding but they are really smart and get it quickly.
Wow! That’s great! What is a GCC? I want to get some tame parrots in the future and I will be letting them out so it would be great if I could train them the same way you did. How long do you think it took for him to understand?
I actually recently began to do the ice cubes! I used to just put my huge batch in zip bags but it was sometimes an inconvenience as it wasn’t anyways easy to get a chunk off. Having a poop shirt is also something I do, and having pads or paper always available is a really good idea!
I like feeding on a paper plate and putting clean grass, a few pieces of old toys and what not so it's a fun foraging game. Also, as a treat I'll sprinkle seeds on the floor for my cockatiel to run around and discover. My Lui loves que tips and toothpicks! Also book corners... She LOVES peas, fresh green beans and apple. Also egg and quinoa hot cereal, but she can't have those because she's laid eggs and I am trying to not stimulate "regurgitated food". Eggs are so hard! I'm trying to figure out how to break the cycle, but hormones cause behaviors, which stimulates more hormones. I've read everything I can find on how to discourage eggs, but she's just laid a 2nd clutch after only a week of finally abandoning her eggs after three weeks. Will it ever end? I'm a little worried. Has anyone else discovered something that worked for them to get they're birds to stop laying eggs?
Potty Baskets - Potty training is super easy. Put bird on basket handle, reward bird for pooping in the paper lined basket below. Done. No poop anywhere but the basket. Happy birbs, Happy people. They will most likely fly to the basket to get the reward.
I would collect the feathers and donate them to an avian vet for imping procedures. It can save lives! I only keep maybe one or two nice feathers from each bird to remember them by. I don't feel that you need their feathers to remember them... taking photos of them is another great way to keep their memories, as well as keeping them in your heart. :)
That’s what I’m doing, keeping some for myself and maybe some extras if I want to put them in a necklace somehow (I do) and then I’ll give the rest of the primary and secondary flight feathers to a bird rescue organisation
@@swiftiebee13 I’ve seen some wonderful ways of putting the feathers into necklaces. You can get some necklace plates and UV resin (doesn’t need to be mixed) to make some really nice looking jewelry
My son just got a cockatiel, and I have upcycled an old t-shirt with long sleeves: I have sewn a lot of old, shiny, colourful buttons (saved from old clothes before tossing them out) on it. Now he wears it whenever he takes out his bird, so it protects his other clothes AND the bird loves to climb around on him and nibble around on the buttons. A perfect 2-in-1 use. 😁
Great hacks! Another good hack for clean up is to get a small vaccuum. Just for vaccuming up around the bird cage and jungle gym (i built my lovebird one based off of your video!). I also use the handheld part of the mini-vacuum to make cage cleanup easier when changing liners and whatnot.
I recently discovered pressure washing and it’s the greatest thing. Of course it’s not an all the time option but every few months I can take the cages outside one at a time and pressure wash all those little corners that are hard to get with brushes and cloths. It’s just fantastic, definitely recommend.
Or you can just layer newspaper inside the cage bottom and in the morning you can throw that and layer a new one . Personally I like this this keeps my bird cage very clean and away from hardnig poop .
I don't use disposable cage liners anymore. I just got a couple of those cheap polar fleece blankets you see on sale in the fall for couches. Polar fleece doesn't really fray so all you do is cut it to the size of the tray. And there ya go! Washable, reusable, whatever pattern you want, ect. Just shake them out over the trash (or, honestly, I just shake the solids off in my yard) and toss it in the wash or rinse in the sink and hang dry.
Ooh! I just got my cockatiel! I have only had a budgie before. Mine is tamed BUT He’s terrified. I don’t want to let him out until he isn’t scared to step up. And we’ve been making progress for sure but he’s so cute it’s killing me!!
My hack for 32 years of owing a parrot - I hung a curtain rod above and behind my birds cage and hung a sheet from it (with curtain clips) to protect my wall from flung food and watcher splashes. Once a month I hung a new sheet and tossed the old one in the wash. Much easier than trying to wash walks!
I have a hack that makes cleaning my 8 cages fast. I bought a 1,000 foot roll of brown paper, 24” wide, and I put that on top of the metal grate. I no longer have to scrub them. I can clean 8 cages in less than 10 minutes. Once a month, I steam clean all the sides and perches and toys. I let poop in the parrot room dry, use a scraper to lift up the drooping, sweep up everything and then wash the floor. I use glass or ceramic ramekins as dishes for all my birds. I have 2 sets of the dishes so I can put the dirty dishes in the sink to clean later and take out the clean ones and lay them on the cart. Then I load up the food and wheel the cart into the bird room. I have a bottled water dispenser in there. I fill each water dish and pair it up with the food dish, then do my stewardess bit by loading up each cage with the appropriate dishes. I have 3 GCCs, 2 Moustache Parakeets, a Quaker, a Brown head and an orange winged Amazon. I make all their toys because the only one they seem to like, sometimes, are the sola kebab pieces. I stopped buying toys when not one of my birds even looked at them. But, put measuring spoons together with the flat parts facing and they go nuts. I use cupcake liners to make pompom balls, paper cups and straws to make foraging toys and I stock up each Easter with shredded paper used in baskets and I buy all I can before it disappears. A paper cup, cut with 4 slits, stuffed with shred, with a nutriberry in it, or a nut, and then punch some holes in the top, one in the bottom and get a zip tie, a bead and go through the bottom hole and through the holes at the top (it’s easier to do this first), and zip it closed. All my birds love this. For conures up, boxes on top of the cage will keep them busy designing their new condo complex. I have a climbing net that covers the ceiling and part of a wall in the bird room. I have a big play stand at one end of the 20’ living room and a smaller one (table top one) near where I sit in the living room. All my birds are flighted.

OH my goodness.... My GCC, Sidney, is 20 years old this year. I wish I had thought to save her molted feathers through the years! I don't know how much longer she will be with me.... I'll start today!

Baby wipes, though... Really great for cleanup. You can use one baby wipe multiple times over the course of a couple of hours before having to throw it away. Technically using anything that you need to wash to re-use may not end up being more eco friendly than using toilet paper. Water is a precious resource too.
Very nice life hacks! Also, funny how so many of them were about poop :D In my case, I use a wide paint scraper for dried up poop on the office mat in front of my cockatiels' cage. The scraper has a good handle and is easier to scrape with than an old card.
I actually love the last tip so much I just got a conure and I already love him to death his name is link (from legend of Zelda) and I would miss him so much and will so be doing that with his molted feathers 😁 everything else was also extremely helpful especially the poop cleaning tips so many shirts have been lost 😞 because of link I might as well tidy them up and use them as my bird shirt
I will definitely make some origami toys for my conure. I already use the muffin paper hack which I have learned from your video. He just loves to find the treat inside. Thank you! 😊
As an owner of a sun conure (Cosmo) and a rescue budgie (Teddy), This really really helped! I definitely needed help when cleaning the poop since I have carpet (unfortunately) Thanks!
Ahh thank you so much.. As we are on budget like just how it is in the EU mostly, i loce these hacks for my 3 budgies!! And we have an Alexa and if we are home or not we mostly have music etc on, our birds love it as we too👍👍🤗🤗

Love your videos! Once I begin watching one I can't help but watch more. Lol... My cutie is "Danny Boy ". He is a sweet, shy blue quaker. So special to me because he is named in memory of my son. My beautiful, sweet, blue eyed..... Daniel. , Whom I lost 4yrs ago at the age of 23. The saddest time of my life.. Daniel had the most incredible sea blue, turquoise eyes!!, much like Danny boy's colocolor!.. He bobs, weaves, rocks and whistles .. lol. Adorable.. he brings so much joy to my fractured heart ❤️ 💙 Thank you again for your videos and you!! You are a wonderful person ❤️ 💕 ♥️ and I am grateful that I am following you..
I just collect my birds feathers because they look nice not because i have something to remember them by. And I think that putting the feathers in a picture frame is super cool, i will definitely do that when my bird loses some nicer, colorful feathers :)
Jesus loves you. He is coming so soon. Please give your life to Christ while you still can and repent. Be baptized in Jesus Name with water and the Holy Spirit!
I've had my conure for 2 months now- she's already learned not to poop on us (for the most part lmao), but comes to either my husband and I to tell us she needs to poop, so we can just hover her over the rubbish bin in whichever room we are in at the time. She's also occasionally going to the rubbish bins by herself to poop. I think I lucked out big time xD
I use a dedicated flat scraper from Home Depot to scrape up dried poop the. Mop the floor or vaccum. It’s much faster and does a better job than a credit card. I also use this in their cage on perches for faster cleanup. For cage liners I use butchers paper. If you go to any kitchen. Supply store or Costco business they sell this in large rolls and they last forever ER.
I need some help and/or advice… my mom and I got a lovebird, and I love it so much! I managed to gain its trust pretty quickly and I felt like we had a great bond. But then it started to constantly fly on top of the curtains. My mom doesn’t like it, and whenever it flies up there she tells me to take it away from there. And ever since, it has started avoiding me and bites me when I get close. I feel like my chances of having a great bond with Noxy is ruined just because my mom is afraid of having to wash her curtain a little more than usual. I think it hates me now and I don’t know what to do

would you be able to possibly make a video on how to help start getting your bird out of their cage amd safely fly around without getting hurt? me and my grandma tried letting my budgie out to fly in her bathroom because it was the safest room for him but he was panicking and flying into windows and walls constantly and he was sitting on the bit were you hang up your shower curtains and he wouldn't get down so we would really appreciate some tips on helping him calm down and get used to it.
I love the last one!🪶so cute Edit: im so lucky that my cockatiel never goes to the bathroom on me and i know that he doesnt want to bec sometimes whenever i put him down after holding him, scritching him he will go to the bathroom when i put him down.
Great video. Thank you for sharing. I've had my GCC since 2019. He is a great guy (boy)... but now I need to move and I unfortunately cannot take him with me. He is very special to me and I don't want to just sell him to some random people. Would like to make sure that who ever gets him, will care for him... Any suggestions? Thank you.
My hack of environmentally friendly cleanup of poop: catch the poo with your BARE HANDS as soon as the bird poops it out 👌 freshly steamy Of course. Wash your hands.
- I have a gaint placemat on my whole desk, so my desk becomes easely cleanable. - A towle on my gamingchair prevents them from pooping on it. - I have made a little playground with a piece of newspaper underneath it next to me, so my birds can sit there while I work. - Also for cables I use empty toilet rolls to put around them so my birds can play with the cardboard in stead of the wire. - I also use cloth handkerchiefs to clean there poop of my desk. You can easely wash them and it is a little bit bigger then the makeup wipes. - My birds tend to have there favorite poop-space. If it is a good spot to make poop-safe with some newspaper, I incurage it, put some newspaper underneath it and even make it more atractive with some toys. If it is not a good spot, I make it less atractive so they can find themselves an other spot.
Thanks for this video! At what point should I take my budgies out of their cage? They seem like they don’t want to leave the cage but I want them to get more exercise. I’ve had them for about a week.
This won't work for big destructive birdies, but I started pitting plastic cutting boards inside my green cheek's cage so just the back edge up to her bottom perch are covered. She plays a lot more with her toys cuz they roll so much better than on newspaper😃 Also keeps her from losing her previous treats in the bottom tray. I wipe them off during the day and wash them every morning. I also put the cutting boards under my white-eyed conure's cage to protect the stand it's on. I even took 2 cutting boards & hung them by their premade holes (sandwiching the bars between) to cover part of the back of her cage where she doesn't climb but poops. Much easier to wipe those down than the bars 🙂 NOTE: i don't put the cutting boards in the bottom tray as it's metal & will rust if water gets underneath them. There's multiple thicknesses of cutting boards & found the super thin ones worked best for the hanging, while slightly thicker, yet pliable cutting boards were better for the cage floor & stand. Otherwise, the birds cheered them.
Eco-friendly alternatives to a biodegradable, sustainable, locally produced and easily sourced product like paper towels? Please do not use "reusable" pads to clean faecal matter. Those "reusable" pads require a lot of water to clean as well as requiring either heat (80 degrees celcius minimum) or chemical sterilisation (usually alcohol bases or bleach equivalents) after **each** use. These "reusable" pads also degrade over time and require replacement which is less eco-friendly when you compare the water used to produce a cotton or cotton alternative product as well as the longer biodegradation cycle required. At the end of the day, both products are made from cellulose from different sources but the efficiency in growth (resource in compared to resource out) are not equivalent. Cotton that is not produced within the united states is also most likely to come from the other main producing countries like india and china, both of whom unironically use slave labour to achieve such a scale of production.... Just stick to paper towels.

You Show 2 Kinds Of Food And feed To The Bird And get 2 of The Treats Again And put in two sides of your hand the left hand And Right Hand show it to the Bird and The bird will pick one and determined to get the favorite food So you can get its favorite food easily and also try new treats and plus you can use fruits and vegetables that can be fed by the bird

I cut old tshirts and make bird Capes . This keeps my shirts clean and also they don't put holes in them either.
I will definitely make some origami toys for my conure. I already use the muffin paper hack which I have learned from your video. He just loves to find the treat inside. Thank you! 😊
I’m gonna make a necklace and earrings with their moulted feathers. Maybe even a hair clip.
And we have an Alexa and if we are home or not we mostly have music etc on, our birds love it as we too👍👍🤗🤗
You are a godsend. Thank you so much for all your amazing advice. Does anyone know what types of live plants are okay for sun conures to have indoors ?
I wish this video was around when I was researching how to be a parrot owner before i got my cockatiel. Great ideas i'm going to start using!!
Love your videos! Once I begin watching one I can't help but watch more. Lol...
My cutie is "Danny Boy ".
He is a sweet, shy blue quaker.
So special to me because he is named in memory of my son. My beautiful, sweet, blue eyed.....
Daniel. ,
Whom I lost 4yrs ago at the age of 23.
The saddest time of my life..
Daniel had the most incredible sea blue, turquoise eyes!!, much like Danny boy's colocolor!..
My grandfather used to play the piano and sing ," O Danny Boy " to Daniel every time we visited and the name became his ..
Danny Boy's favorite song is that!! He bobs, weaves, rocks and whistles .. lol. Adorable.. he brings so much joy to my fractured heart ❤️ 💙
Thank you again for your videos and you!!
I made earrings with some of the feathers I got from my babies- I have 2 love birds and an Alexandrine.
Jesus loves you. He is coming so soon. Please give your life to Christ while you still can and repent. Be baptized in Jesus Name with water and the Holy Spirit!
paint scrapers help SOO much with dry poop! i got mine at dollar tree and use it all the time
I've had my conure for 2 months now- she's already learned not to poop on us (for the most part lmao), but comes to either my husband and I to tell us she needs to poop, so we can just hover her over the rubbish bin in whichever room we are in at the time. She's also occasionally going to the rubbish bins by herself to poop. I think I lucked out big time xD
that's awesome!
😊😊😊😢injunction use gx trzt s Saxon s
What could you use to clean the poop off the cage? Is it just water or is it the vinegar solution too? Also are baby wipes safe for birds?
I just found you and can't stop watching your videos. Very well done, educational and easy to understand. (interesting too) Glad I found you.
Supply store or Costco business they sell this in large rolls and they last forever ER.
the transitions are just chefs kiss
What type of parrot do you have and what is the most sociable and friendly parrot?
I'm going to try to make some thing with my bird's fathers to and thar name is Simon coco and sky
heyy could u please tell me where did u get your parrot playstand i wanted one for so long :C
She made it! There's a video on it
@@Luv.Gracee oh ok thankyou
@@Vanlyz yw:)
I line my cages with packing paper it's perfect size for larger cages
I just train my bird to poo on his perch instead of everywhere or me problem solved!
U can leave more than one paper under the cage so once u need to change it all u do I just take out the paper
Wait… YOU HAVE A DOG?? Can you do a video about having conures and a dog?? Pleasssse! Thanks
Soo cute
thanks so much!
I think it hates me now and I don’t know what to do
ello i love your videos your so informative and i learnt so much and corrected all my mistakes. great video. thanks for being so great i'll keep watching
Idk if you choose the ads but I found myself watching at least 2 of them all the way through lol and then I’ll come back to this video and I’m like “wait I’m still here?” 😂
What types of birds do you have?
Very detailed especially for first time parrot owner like me. Please keep up the content! 👍👍
thank you so much, this helped a lot. not early this time cuz its early in the morning here 😂 btw your videos are amazing as always love ya! 💕
would you be able to possibly make a video on how to help start getting your bird out of their cage amd safely fly around without getting hurt? me and my grandma tried letting my budgie out to fly in her bathroom because it was the safest room for him but he was panicking and flying into windows and walls constantly and he was sitting on the bit were you hang up your shower curtains and he wouldn't get down so we would really appreciate some tips on helping him calm down and get used to it.
thanks informative i have a pinapple green cheek conure just like pinapple
I have a question, what should I do it’s my floor is carpet?
You can still use water + vinegar and let that sit! (When it's done, dab/tap DONT rub!)
Gearing up to get two budgies. Glad I found your channel.
I should buy some cool capes to wear around the house with my bird. I only wear black so it won't show stains.
Another amazing video 🥰🥰
Thank you!! You have the best timing with these videos, was just going to do more research!
One more major life hack: Rope perches can be cleaned in the dishwasher sanitizer setting with no detergent.
I loved the bird origami idea!!
yay new video this is helpful
LETTTTSSS GOOOOOO BOIIISSSS💯💯😈😈😈😈
HHIIIIIIII 😈😈😈
Mmm no I used disinfectant wipes. Them birds will be ok. Lived 17 years
I love the last one!🪶so cute
Edit: im so lucky that my cockatiel never goes to the bathroom on me and i know that he doesnt want to bec sometimes whenever i put him down after holding him, scritching him he will go to the bathroom when i put him down.
I recently bought a baby Kakariki parrot , would you recommend clipping his wings so I can bond with him or not?
Please do not clip your bird’s wings!
Brilliant
If you do choose to use newspaper or circulars/ads for bird care liners, it is important to make sure the ink used for print is non-toxic.
What are your thoughts on light weight bird flight suits/diapers? They’re hand washable.
Thank you.
Great , thanks for the wonderful tips
Please can someone recommend toys for inside and outside the cage! And big stands / perches for them for outside the cage?? Thank you 🥰
My hack of environmentally friendly cleanup of poop: catch the poo with your BARE HANDS as soon as the bird poops it out 👌 freshly steamy
Of course. Wash your hands.
i wish i can keep the feathers from my CAG that died a few months ago. Sadly i have to discard everything it touches as my CAG is PBFD positive.
Much easier to wipe those down than the bars 🙂
NOTE: i don't put the cutting boards in the bottom tray as it's metal & will rust if water gets underneath them.
Just stick to paper towels.
i learned so many things from your channel thank you
Are your tamed birds handfeed?
I Have A Hand Feed budgie And Hes recall Is Not That Good. Im Doubting if I Can Still Tamed Him
Tip 14 immediately brought me into a gloomy mood and my brain started to simulate the situation when my bird has to go.... I'm looking for an available jar right now.... thanks for all the tips
I’ve got my sun conure parrots for 2 weeks now, i am taking care if him, playing with him but, i feel that my bird is somehow very agressive on biting me, its like he wants to cut my finger.. oh still I don’t understand my bird.. but i know he already likes me coz he us following me wherever i go inside my flat, he is calling me also.. can you give me an advice how my bird stop biting me? Whenever i am letting him out his cage..
Loved this! Thanks! Ive saved feathers from my african grey and made earrings and dreamcatchers with his lovely red feathers ❤
thank god I collected some feathers of my bird, I honestly did it as a joke at first
i have budgies and i find their poop might harden on their natural perches -- and is REALLY hard to get off even with the vinegar solution because of the texture from the bark, what should i do then?
Go to Walmart and buy the construction paper in a roll where the packaging supplies are! 3 bucks and it lasts me 3 months!!
HELLO I'm a new bird owner. last year a friend who was a breeder of Conure , his wife gave me two ,not sure how old they are, the one is very aggressive and the other is very afraid of people. the aggressive one bites draws blood. Neither one wants to be Handled. am i wasting my time with these birds? not sure as to what sex they are so not sure if they could breed and maybe have babies to work with. could you please advise.not knowing their age or their sex would it be better to separate the two into separate cages .thank you for any help. we live in Gainesville Florida.
Thanks for the tips. I purchased draw liners. They come in different colours and in rolls. Cut it to size place it on the grill tray and tie it with zip ties at each end ever second or third gap. When i need to clean i take the tray out and wash in the laundry tub.
First 4 tips: "everything you want to know about cleaning parrot PooP"
We have a CBC and he won't poo on me, he waits until he is off of me. We do the toilet paper tip and wear old clothing around the house. We use a clear plastic table cloth under the cage. Actually, we have used all the tips here over the 30 years that I have had birds. When you have no children, pets become your children. For my husband and I they are our feather babies.
I forgot that birds poop all over and on people because my conure doesn’t poop on people and typically doesn’t poop on furniture and stuff either and he’s out all day. Idk why he does this I never trained him to (which I had planned but he did it automatically)
I just got two of my first ever parakeets and named my blue and yellow one pineapple and my albino one coconut
