Breaking it on April 1st is extremely impressive. I also broke the AZ 3x3 state record the same day 🤔 Btw my 2x2 PR single is 1.57 and here's some British kid coming right out and averaging faster than that; huge congratulations to Luke!

@@ScoochCubing ahaha yeah Sameer had it at 1.96 until 2018 when I finally got 1.92 - then I brought it down a bit over a couple of years :) Ngl having NR for 5 years was longer than I ever expected though and a huge privilege. The next generation have taken over now, and I’m excited to see what’s gonna happen in the future!
I use the ortega method but sometimes when i get one bar/j perm/y perm its at he bottom so i have to do a rotation so can you solve those without a rotation?
T perm on bottom: Hold bar on left R2 (t perm) R2 But cancel R2 and R into R’ So R’ U R’ U’ R’ F R2 U’ R’ U’ R U R’ F R2 For bar on bottom Hold bar on front L D’ L F2 L’ D L’ And idk y perm on bottom
For the bar on bottom left I do R2 U' R' U R' F2 R F' R' F2 For y perm on bottom I never do it, I just avoid it because it's bad. But I think i used to do R U' R' U' F2 U' R U R' U R2 F2, or just flip upside down and y perm

I was in the same round as him that time but sadly I messed it up so badly - a DNF and a +2 :/ I got the exact same solution as him for solve 1 and 2 - my times were 2.21 (not even 5 tps 🤡) and 1.69 (PR) same face/layer solution for all the scrambles except solve 5 (I did U2 insert) After watching this video I realised some of my CLL and EG-1 algs are probably outdated and bad already... (I completed CLL and EG-1 over 5 years ago and didn't use the excel sheet that everyone uses today) probably the time to update my algs... Btw what alg do u use in solve 2? Coz I use Luke's one as well and I think that's fast enough...? Is there a better alg?
That’s hilarious yous did a lot of the solves the same haha. Unlucky with the penalties. Yeah I’m the same with some algs being not good, mainly because I learnt from j perm and a few of his algs are really bad. I realised that when watching antonie paterakis tutorials. Then I went to the spreadsheet and changed a good few For that alg on solve 2 apparently it’s actually really popular haha. I really don’t know how I’ve never seen it before. I know two other algs, one from the top colour bar on the front which starts with F U’, but now I only use it when I get that angle, now I otherwise do, facing headlights R U’ R’ U R U’ R’ U R’ F R F’l
@@ScoochCubing another reason about some algs being not good, when I just started CLL and EG-1, I can't one-look solves at all, so I refrain from choosing algs that has pre-AUFs. For example, the sune CLL on solve 3. I didn't memorise that alg even tho it's clearly the best one because when I don't one-look, after completing the layer, I would have to recognise that case, and then do a U2 before doing the alg which I thought would make things slower. But now that I can one-look quite well, these pre-AUF no longer bothers me, but then I have to re-learn these better algs @_@ but well on the positive side, I can have multiple algs in my mind for the same case which is definitely beneficial :)

I would have done the last scramble the way he missed but without the cancelation because the say I solve the 2x2 is weird.
