    Thought that I already knew the follow me tool for moldings and trim... and I did... until you removed material and rounded that bookshelf top! So awesome. I immediately hit rewind in my brain and thought about how long it took me to do the same thing on a set of stair treads some time ago. Again, so awesome. Thanks Justin!

    Thanks for the tip on removing material.... I knew about the base board type stuff, but not using a face as the path or removing material on a crown.

    Is there a way to miter the corners and make each piece separate?

    Good one! Do you have suggestions on accurately modeling saving the profile of different router bits?

    • @Thesketchupessentials
      @Thesketchupessentials  7 лет назад

      There may be some out there in different formats - not really sure because I haven't done too much with this. There's a pretty good discussion in this thread on SketchUcation - sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=183&t=9101 - Thanks!

    Can you explode that trim into cut parts easily?

    Thanks for the vid. Can you use the follow me tool on crown profiles you get from the Warehouse? I'm having a hard time try to make that work. I can do it with a profile I create but not from the warehouse. thanks!

    Great video but was wondering if you can keep 'stock' profiles rather than drawing them each time, I'm a non-pro user. Thanks

    • @Thesketchupessentials
      @Thesketchupessentials  4 года назад

      Sure - just upload them to the 3D Warehouse and download them when you need them

    This is really good. do you have videos on 3D printing too. this would be my main interest.

      Unfortunately at the moment I don't - I've been meaning to purchase a 3D printer but just haven't gotten around to it yet - sorry about that!

    • @joulesja
      @joulesja 5 лет назад

      That all good mate. I have learnt a lot while building my printer, over the years , but the lessons you provide, have cut time in half, big time. cheers again. your a great help. I will make a note of your web site address and pop over, to watch and support the site. oh and you should build or buy the 3D printer, as you know all the drawing stuff already. as for me, i built my one, due to lack of money, this was cheaper to build, but i didn't regret. best move ever. OK i will stop going on and let you be. THANKS

    Hi Justin, did you ever do a tutorial to demonstrate how to create detailed moulding for wood working or design? I'm trying to create a Dentil moulding profile but cant seem to get the notch detail, can this be done using profile builder? I think it would make a great tutorial.

    • @Thesketchupessentials
      @Thesketchupessentials  6 лет назад

      Hi Wayne! You're correct, this would be an excellent use for Profile Builder - you'd could extrude the profile shapes, then create the repeating notches using the assemblies option. This is a great profile builder tutorial idea - I probably can't get to it this week though. Maybe next week?

      Thanks!!! that would be amazing and I would greatly appreciate it, as would others I think. Much appreciated.

    Thank you for video. Is there a way to add, say like a baseboard, around finished rooms by having the profile outside the model but within the same file and not having to move the profile every time to the guideline in order to use the followme tool? This way I can have the profile in one place in the model without having to move every time. If not with follow me, is there perhaps a plugin?

    • @Thesketchupessentials
      @Thesketchupessentials  7 лет назад

      Hi Gerrit - I'm pretty sure you can do this with profile builder - ruclips.net/video/rvKHQBvuTmg/видео.html - you might want to give the trial a try and see if it does what you want. Thanks!

    this video is good but where is the first step where you can just add a solid shape

  • @kristintabor3496

    I still have no many questions :( What if you are in a room and some of the 'follow-me lines get separated, or get selected in small groups of lines? How can you manually turn a corner? I created my baseboard, applied it to the wall, and when I triple click to create a group, it selects basically everything it touches so I cant group only my baseboard.

  • @zakorkaz
    @zakorkaz 3 года назад

    Doesn't work for me. I keep getting a circle with a line through it when I select "follow me."

    • @Thesketchupessentials
      @Thesketchupessentials  3 года назад

      Sounds like the face you're trying to extrude might be in a group? It needs to be raw geometry to work

    Good … But what you and many others forget is that when you are teaching or explaining a new tool or function, especially to newbies like me with a week's experience, you must slow down. We can't watch the whole screen at once to see what you did and which tools or options you used.

      You may want to consider going into the settings and setting the speed of the video to .75. I do have to balance making videos that beginners can follow with making videos that experienced users can follow without losing interest. If you're looking for beginner tutorials, you may want to start here - ruclips.net/video/u80grW1zjOw/видео.html , or here - ruclips.net/video/xJdpbmUnw_Y/видео.html . Thanks for watching and I hope you're finding the videos helpful!

      Click on the little gear-like icon at the lower right of the video. This is the Settings control. It will allow you to adjust the play speed. Running it at .75 percent will slow the action enough to follow without distorting the audio.
